"Frozen" food for thought

I understand what you mean I hate the movie overlay on POTC!
I would love an Frozen indoor snow attraction- ice rink, snow play, sledding etc-make it snow!

I highly doubt Disney would invest multiple millions in a new ride for a movie that has only been released for one year, also with a background story that was before relatively unknown.

I know it the "in" thing now and people are going crazy.. But I would think they also analysis longvivity of a character/movie before investing.

Maybe people will still be crazy about Anna /Elsa 5 years from now, but seeing how quick we are to love the new best thing, It will only take another new movie, with another new princess, to be the new best thing and Anna/Elsa are soon pushed aside.

Other rides are built on "classics" TSM, POC are an exception, maybe due to being part of a franchise. I would not say that Frozen is a classic, yet.

POC is a movie franchise based on a ride! The ride existed way before the movie did.

I don't want to see Frozen in Norway. The movie doesn't even take place there, and I think it is insulting to the area to say it is all the same. (The inspiration store was written by a Dane, not a Norwegian, and the story doesn't take place in any real country.)

I agree. :thumbsup2 Frozen has definitely proven to be more popular than most, but only time can tell if it will have true classic status!

Also, as far as adding A&E to Akershus, I have a feeling that would turn in to a mob scene. People trying to sneak in, people rushing them as soon as they come out. Maybe not, but maybe!

I hear you, but I don't recall Test Track having a 5-6 hour wait even when it was new. WDW very much needs new attractions. They really need to capitalize on what they've got, and they have Frozen.

As dinky as it is, we love Maelstrom. Still, I think Frozen holds huge potential for WDW. Given the execution of LM in MK, I don't see WDW making the kind of attraction that Frozen really SHOULD get.

I see a significant opportunity to totally reinvent Imagination around the Frozen franchise. Give guests the opportunity to "imagine' and explore their own ice castle/ice world. Build your own snowman. Imagine ways to make the world a better place (world out reach, technology, interactive idea).

I've always liked the quotes outside Living with the Land. What if they used a similar theme, but made it interactive using modern technology. Like one person could suggest an idea, then another could improve upon that suggestion, then another could add a way to make that idea a reality, and finally people could donate money to develop the concept. Crowd source/turn guests into the "Imagineers" or easily tie the concept to Frozen. "You too have the magic power to transform your world with imagination."

The whole thing could then be brought back to education...There's a very large # of options if WDW embraced 3-d printing technology. Imagination could house 3-d printers, and host assorted STEM competitions. A very simple tie-in would be to let kids design and print their own Norway/Frozen themed jewelry. How's that for a way to get young ladies interested in STEM?

I agree that it is not a classic yet but i have an almost 8 year old daughter that has seen new princesses come Merida, Rapunzel...etc BUT nothing compares to this it really is a phenomenon. I dont know if they will have the staying power though...just the other day my DD told me he wanted to be Pocahontas for Halloween....i mean could she have picked a more random princess...but anyway....i wouldnt go changing the Malestrom just yet, i would rather see them A&E added to a dining event first rather than changing an attraction. JMHO

Winter Summerland overlay sounds AWESOME. I would go for that.

Redo of Tom Sawyer island bad bad bad. Not only does it mess up the distinction between the lands, I can't even begin to imagine the disaster that those little rafts would be dealing with the number of guests that would try to get over there for the meet and greet. That would be an EPIC failure in my humble opinion.

I wouldn't call The Snow Queen a "relatively unknown" story... :confused3 It's a classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale...

I would hardly call the few tweaks they made to PotC an overlay. All they did was put in 3 Jack Sparrow animatronics and that water curtain thing at the beginning (I've only seen the first movie so I'm not sure who that character is). What they do at HM at DL every year with The Nightmare Before Christmas is an overlay because it's totally different from the regular version.

When the second/third movies came out it was Davey Jones, and then when On Stranger Tides came out they changed it to Blackbeard. And they also added "mermaid" lights and their song from the 4th movie.

I'm all for it!
Good night---that dark and depressing movie after the ride?
It'll be nice to brighten it up. I don't think they would have to lose the integrity of the ride or the culture. Change is good!

:thumbsup2 Changing the old movie for a snippet of the movie would be great!

Just imagine...the movie could be set up slightly like original MTV- where each time it's a different song from the movie. The audience could wear Frozen costumes and act out each song- or develop small hand dances (or something) unique to each song.

Or maybe WDW could give out some kind of small freebie. They could very much fill that theater if they handed out something like Frozen themed baseball cards, or game cads. (like MK's KttK cards). Especially if they just gave out a handful of cards per showing...

*********************

Another funny idea...the movie title seriously lends itself to themed iced concoctions: Frozen ice cream, snowman snow cones or real-fruit granita, Frozen soft serve, Frozen adult beverages, or some new confection: waffle cookie ice ream sandwiches where the waffles are shaped like the snowman! (think Mickey waffles)

I say the Norway bakery is totally missing the boat!

Y'know, I'd mostly be fine with all the changes, if it weren't for all the idiots that now insist on taking a flash photo of Cap't Jack! Once they start, they just keep flashing away! Oblivious that they are flashing EVERY other guest in the six OTHER boats surrounding theirs! pirate:
