I signed up last night--for my two daughters but didn't get myself a ticket. I just want to take pictures and observe. Am I allowed to do this without a ticket myself? I figured I didn't want to take a spot from another kiddo who is hoping to see the characters. Thanks.

I think someone asked this before, so Im answering based on what I read.....
I think everyone who gets in line needs a ticket. I'll see if I can find the post.

You will have actual tickets waiting in your cabin when you board. The cast member also has a list of cabin numbers and number of people that they check off as they take the ticket at the time of the event. So there are actually two checks that you may enter.

Ok, thanks! I was lucky enough to get our entire group (13 of us!) tickets for the meet and greets for Alaska in June. I hate that I have to take a spot of a kiddo just so my parents can see their grand kids meet princesses, but I didn't want them to miss out on the excitement, either.

Actual tix--they'll be in your room with anything else you booked through Disney. Ours were on the desk with our port adventures, character breakfast, and a note stating how much OBC we received from our TA.

Yep. And at least a couple of years ago they were checking off names matching tickets when you handed them in.

You aren't taking anyone's spot. Since they do it this way, they anticipate a certain "average group size" that takes a certain amount of time. If everyone started just getting tickets for their kids it would overload the system, as there would be more "groups" per time period than they expected.

i agree that they don't really make it clear that everyone needs a ticket, no matter if you are participating or accompanying.
