Does anyone have any good or bad experience with this airline? I was shopping some flights for our December trip. I like the price, but I have read tons of very negative reviews online.

Thanks for any help!!!

We flew them from PHL to MCO in March and again in August and had no major issues.

The first time around, we didn't pay attention (was a rushed trip that we booked two days in advance) to how much cheaper it was to pay your checked luggage fee online pre-flight.

Our flight was first thing in the morning, and we weren't able to catch breakfast at the airport, so we ended up paying for expensive drinks and snacks on board. The flight attendant told me that I could have also purchased food and drink vouchers for cheaper online pre-flight, but when we booked our second trip, I honestly could not find that option so I just bought extra snacks from home.

Other than that, the planes and employees have been good and the flights on time. My only complaint is their uncomfortable seats because they don't recline, and their tray tables are spring backs, so unsupervised children tend to play with them and annoy the person in front of them.

Was my go-to airline until they "went to" the Ultra-low cost model. Their new model made for very unhappy employees, who took it out on passengers for quite awhile after that.

They also started screening ALL bags at the gate for size and if it was a millimeter over, you had to pay up on the spot -- mine never were, but it slowed down boarding significantly.

They quit that after a few days, I THINK...but anyway...that's when I quit flying Frontier and swore to never fly them again.

Having said that they have improved since then and employees seem to be happy now according to news reports and as I said, I think they got more reasonable about bag size etc.

Indeed, just made reservations for my wife on one of their flights today.

But here is a recent article about how they are doing, which gives facts and figures.

I just started flying Frontier a year ago and have since been on 5 Frontier flights to or from Orlando and have another RT flight booked with them for December. They are now our go-to airline because we can get such great rates.

So far I'm very happy with them. All of our flights have been on time. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. The cost of tickets have been drastically cheaper than other airlines. There is really nothing negative I can say aside from perhaps they aren't the most comfortable seats. But for the amount I'm saving, and the relatively short flight, I'm okay with that.

I also had a great experience with customer service when we had to cancel a flight this past Spring because we got sick with the flu. Frontier will waive the change fee and issue a credit for "emergency reasons." This included illness so I called and spoke to a very helpful rep on the phone, sent in my paperwork from my doctor, and within minutes I had a credit so I could rebook for a later date with no fees. It did not go as smoothly with the other airline we were using that trip.

When booking keep in mind the extra costs of things like picking your seats and baggage. We minimize baggage fees by using backpacks as our "free personal item" and/or checking one large bag vs. 2-3 small ones.

So far, my experience on multiple flights this past year has been that they have not measured bags at the gate. I even had an extra bag most trips that I carry with medical necessities and keep a letter to show if I'm asked about it and never had to show it. I'm sure a couple of times my bags would have gone a tiny bit over but they were always easily able to fit under the seats.

I might try them soon. They just started direct flights to MCO from here. The base fares are cheap, and their Works (or Werks, or however it's spelled) package is something I've been wanting to see from Allegiant for a while.

I have used them several times and you can get some really great deals but they are a few draw backs. their seats are very small, close together and do not recline. the tray table is about 3 inches deep. The main problem I find is their limited flight schedule. If for some reason your flight is cancelled there is little to no effort to get you home. This presents a problem for me since I take my son out of school and need to get home when I'm scheduled. You do pay for everything too and paying at the airport is more expensive so do it online even from the airport is ok. I have been the recipient of the tape measure on my personal item on one flight but this last flight they didn't seem to check to see if people paid for a carryon like they have sometimes. I really think it's hit or miss with them

My big worry with them would be if I had a connecting flight. See the on-time figures that are in the business journal article that I linked to in my earlier post in this thread. And that is RECENT information.

BTW, my wife got a "Wonderful" fare from them of $45 from MSY to PDX yesterday, but by the time we added that yes she wanted to sit during the flight, yes she wanted to be INSIDE the actual passenger cabin and no she did not want to ride in the baggage hold -- as well as the other numerous things they charge for, she was only about $15 dollars cheaper than SWA.

And, at least SWA lets you change and/or cancel flights for no fees and they allow checked bags for free.

Obviously I was exaggerating about Frontier's fees, but they do add up quickly.

If the Frontier flight hadn't had such a perfect departure/arrival time, she would have taken the SWA flight for $15 more.

I flew them the first time this past Easter. I booked seats two weeks before Easter at a very good rate. I paid for one checked bag and we took backpacks as our personal item with no problem. Yes the seats are smaller and more uncomfortable however it was doable. I wouldn't hesitate to fly them again as they are one of the few non stop options from CLE to MCO.
