Frontier Airlines: Memphis to Orlando!

Today Frontier Airlines announced that they would start serving Memphis on May 12 with 2 round trips daily to its Denver hub, 1 round trip daily to Las Vegas and 1 round trip daily to Orlando!

It looks like they have an introductory fare of $79 one-way to Orlando and the flights are on Frontier's Airbus 318 aircraft which have the seatback individual DirectTV service.

Memphis must be a stop on a Denver - Orlando flight because I can't imagine they'd want to tangle with Northwest on a non-hub route. Interesting. Expect some sort of retaliation from Northwest on that move!!

Wish they would add a St. Louis/MCO flight! I had to move from Denver two years ago for a job and LOVE Frontier.

I would have thought Northwest would retaliate too, but it looks like it was AirTran first. They've added a non-stop from Memphis to Orlando starting May 8 (four days before Frontier starts on the route), with an introductory fare of $69 each way, undercutting Frontier by $10.

And it looks like Northwest is matching prices on the route as well.
