From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

Okay...Happy Tuesday! I took my motorcycle out for her last cruise of the summer. Ran some Carb treatment through her....it was a blast! I ran the lawn mower to pick up leaves. I can't lift the bagger but waiting for my sister to help empty them. I go out trick or treating...every year with my daughter and grandkids. We all dress up. This year I'm doing "day of the dead".....you know, the skeleton heads that are decorated, best known in Mexico. I bought the makeup at Rite Aide. Still working on the costume. I don't buy candy, we don't get any kids out here in the woods! But....every year, the week before Halloween....we design our pumpkins and we used to bake Sugar Cookies and decorate them with chocolate and jimmies and thick colorful frosting! We stopped doing that last year. So....instead...I try to make a light treat or special dish that we can enjoy, that is a bit out of everyday but not loaded with calories. I haven't decided what to make yet...maybe health cookies I'm designing. I added Caraway Seeds to my oatmeal for extra fiber. Yummy! It's been a good week. I'm eating well...no empty calories. You all have a lovely evening. Stay away from those Candy Isles at the Store!

QOTD - October 20

So I didn't follow rule number 1 and bought the Halloween candy on Sunday. I made friends with the Halloween candy last night. Which somehow led to me reuniting with French fries instead of answering yesterday's QOTD and posting last week's results. I blame the doughnuts I had for breakfast. And then, apparently in a sugar and fat induced coma, I slept through my WW meeting this morning. It is really great that it is the start of a new WW week! The remains of the candy are now in the neighborhood food pantry box, I've made dinner reservations for Halloween night so I won't have to buy more candy for the trick or treaters, and I've got a meeting scheduled in my calendar for later this week.

All of which leads me to the QOTD: Halloween!! Who is dressing up? What fun plans do you have? What are some of your favorite Halloween memoirs? And how do you deal with The Candy Problem?

I totally get the candy problem! The way I handle it is just to NEVER buy it. We live in a pretty rural area so we don't get trick or treaters! Therefore, I just don't buy it. Work is actually the hardest because people constantly bring in candy & treats. One guy always stocks our giant beer cooler (I work at a winery/brewery!) with bags of chocolate, so I really just have to force myself not to even walk in there!

We leave November 1 for WDW so we're going to MNSSHP that night. I'm so happy we got tickets, literally bought them a few hours before they sold out. For someone who is a huge procrastinator, this is a giant accomplishment! I'm going with a Tower of Terror theme, so a custom tutu, maroon tank top with an HTH emblem, etc. I worked at TOT, met my fiance there and got engaged there so I have a little bit of an attachment to the place!

@ThistleMae That Scar pumpkin is amazing! Where did you get that stencil?

:cool1:

I am starting Woohoo Wednesday early!! First, I stepped on the scale this morning to another half pound loss. I am so happy! All in all I am now down 7.5 pounds since September 7th! I know I was frustrated last week and the one thing I changed is that I have been geting 8 hours of sleep the last three nights (my second woohoo). I wonder whether it is really the sleep that lets my body to finally get rid of the surplus fat. I can already feel a significant difference in how my clothes fit, too (third woohoo)!

I bought an awesome Maleficent costume several years ago that I promised DD I would resurrect this year. Since having DD, we have spent Halloween at my parents house because they live in a very small, tight knit community where trick or treating is a huge deal. My entire family ends up at my parents house where we set up a candy station in the garage, give out tons of treats and take the little ones to however many houses they want to go (making it a point to also visit my lovely mawmaw). I typically don't have a problem with the candy.....unless I eat one piece. I'm not really tempted by it but if I do decide to eat one piece then I have an issue stopping. So my goal this year is to not eat a piece so I don't start that slide.

I try to keep the 100cal snack packs, low-sodium popcorn, and fresh fruits and veggies handy (though I am also likely to snack on cereal or animal crackers). Breakfasts-made-easy for me is usually overnight oatmeal , I can make a week's worth one night at grab and go before work for the whole week.

I have been wanting to do the overnight oatmeal for some time now but still haven't done it. I need to. I have tons of overnight oatmeal recipes pinned on Pinterest so I need to stop planning and start doing.

Hey all! I'm back! It was a WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL vacation! Had a blast, learned that I LOVE snorkeling, spent every minute possible with DD, and I am SO SAD to be back to reality (although I missed my men and my kitty!). I'll share pictures later after I have had a chance to download them and sort through them. I can't really take the time right now to look back at the 10 pages of chatter I missed, but I am DELIGHTED to see that things have stayed active here! I'll be back later to catch up on the conversation!.............P

So great to have you back!! And to hear that you had such a great time! Snorkeling is wonderful, isn't it? I was totally surprised how much I loved it the first time I tried it. Looking forward to see plenty of pictures!

So happy you enjoyed the snorkeling! It is my very favorite thing to do on vacations. I spend hours in the water....one of the reasons I like to go to for tropical vacations in the hottest months! Looking forward to your pics. And yes....we are all still here, stronger than ever!

Whoohoo Wednesday.....Planning my Outfits for Disney in November! What fun! I have so many nice new things to pick from. Spent a ton of money....but I'm worth it! The most difficult part is deciding on shorts vs. crop pants vs. jeans. I've been trying to research the weather and it seems to vary greatly from morning, mid-day and then night. It seems I need a bit of everything! Any suggestions for end of November weather things to make sure I have?

Woohoo! It's Wednesday but I have Friday off so it's really like my Thursday. I've had a very successful week with packing snacks, staying within my points and not really using any weekly extras so I'm really looking forward to this week's weigh-in. I worked out on Monday but I can't work out on Tuesdays because I have choir rehearsal. But I've got my gym bag packed for today! Oh and 41 days until Disney :D

Whoo Hooo Wednesday - or Back to the Future Wednesday is on my scale this AM I was 169.4 haven't been under 170 in 2yrs!!

@pjlla Glad you back and had a wonderful time and found a new sport/hobby you love..
@ThistleMae Yay for new clothes! and an upcoming Disney trip

Okay....toying with making health cookies. Is this a trap or a good idea? I have ingredients laid out on counter. Will I end up eating too many, or can I keep it down to two healthy cookies for a snack? Thoughts?

Go for it. But maybe make a small batch, so if you end up eating them all the damage is less bad. I think part of this journey is also to learn how to have treats, but limit them. This is a great opportunity for you to exercise!

You won't know until you try. :flower1: I find it hard to stop eating just about any cookie but maybe you can eat a couple and then put them away so they aren't in your line of sight. That might help.

Work is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a bowling party - and we get to dress up in costumes by team. We've decided to be the team "They See Me Rollin'" and we're all dressing up as Mario Kart characters. We've grabbed boxes from Wal-Mart to decorate as the karts and we're going today at lunch to Hobby Lobby to get shirts and hats. I'll post pics on Friday -- but it's something super fun to get excited over :)

(I don't have anything else really - already did the hotel check-in and the FP+ reservation for the December trip over the weekend, so that woohoo has lost its impact haha)

I say make a half batch of cookies and see how it goes.. if you can control yourself then next time make the whole batch if not then don't make anymore LOL
