From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

Sorry to everyone for handing off the thread and disappearing! I have some serious catching up to do, but wanted to check I super quickly. It's 2:18am here! Tuesday was my last day at work  and today DH2B called in sick so we could get a lot of stuff done... We went to pick up his suit at 10 when Men's Wearhouse opened, and LONG story short, spent the rest of the day (literally until 7pm) driving to everywhere we could think of trying to find him a suit. He just needs pants and a vest, this shouldn't be so hard. We are still suitless, the wedding is Saturday, and Thursday now has to consist of all of Thursday's to-do list PLUS all of Wednesday's to-do list :crutches:

Disney soon, though! This time next week I'll be asleep on a heavenly bed, waking up in a few hours for pre-park Crystal Palace breakfast with Pooh and friends!! Oh, and I had a 197 weigh in this morning!

I'm so glad you checked in!!! Congratulations on the end of work (yay!) and the AWESOME WI (double yay!!)

I hope you ENJOY your last few single days and that the wedding is as magical as it can be. And the honeymoon!

I'm a little late (since it's now Thursday) :/

This week has been up and down - I've had some successes with my food, but some struggles - my usual snacks at my knitting group are something I definitely need to get under control in the future. The group meets at 5, and I'm usually hungry but haven't had time to actually eat dinner, so I need to plan a snack that isn't a cookie from the bakery every week :P

My woo hoo this week is that we are getting super close to our December trip!!! I can't wait! And that I'm working on a healthier meal plan for next week so I can set myself up for success :)

Good job! It sounds like you are doing a great job setting into a routine!!

MRI day at the hospital! Is that a Whoohoo? Well, I do want to know what's up with my back. But....no gym until I do, very discouraged about that...I was doing so well. I had a good night last night. I only ate one of my "health cookies" for a snack as decided. I'm allowing myself two a day. So far....I feel strong. Carry on everyone! Be good to yourself. You are your own best friend!

Good luck with the MRI today. I hope they figure out what is wrong and get you back to the gym ASAP!

QOTD - October 22

Brrr. Another cold and chilly morning out there. What is your favorite hot beverage?

I adore hot chocolate with whipped cream more than anything but my usual is Darjeeling tea with milk and a tiny spoonful of sugar.

That's an easy QOTD: tea, Earl Grey, hot

Yummy!

Thank you all so much for the love and support last night. I needed it.

You are very welcome! Part of this journey to weight loss is to learn how to not eat your frustration (literally), so if you want to vent on here instead of ending up eating candy, this is what we are here for!

Sorry about your situation. One thought I had was that maybe your MIL has difficulty dealing with the fact that she will not have any grandchildren from you an your DH? And that is why she kind of wants this trip to be a substitute for the memories she always has hoped to create one day? I am not saying this to convince you to go on this trip (I can absolutely understand your point!!!), but maybe it is easier to deal with her if you at least can explain her behaviour. And maybe you are right and your MIL does need someone to help her through something which might be a hard time for her, too.

Oh - and what about a trip to California? I had a great time at Sequoia National Park and Yosemite this summer. And there is the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco and then that tiny park in Anaheim... :rolleyes1

Thank you all so much for the love and support last night. I needed it.

Dh's family is unfortunately not the sort that is good at the big group dividing up sort of thing. All activities must be pursued together even if everyone is miserable! I stopped questioning it a decade ago.... The biggest problem is that my MIL has it her head that she wants to take her grandchildren to WDW and she thinks that the perfect trip for this is the trip DH and I had planned in April so that we can help her and FIL wrangle kids. The bizarre part is that she doesn't want any of the kids parents to go (which is what started the family fight while we were visiting). We don't have kids of our own, not for lack of trying, and I love my nieces and nephews but we decided to stop trying a year ago and I'm just not emotionally up for introducing other people's kids to Disney right now. DH is 100% supportive of that but he has also 100% bought into my MILs emotional blackmail that she will just be heartbroken if we go to WDW without her again. Which somehow seems to have extended to include Europe.

So the short answer to the long drama is that I'm backing quickly away from Florida, Italy, France, and the UK. Having typed all this out, I'm also thinking I may need to talk to DH about whether someone needs to talk to MILs doctors about her emotional state and why a normally sweet woman is blackmailing one child and putting her other children against each other. Not to mention torturing her DIL.

And I may plan a significantly shorter solo or girlfriends trip to Florida for myself to get my fix.

Thank you again. I apologize for turning this thread into an in-law vent fest.

Oh girl, do not apologize! We can vent about MILs ANY time LOL

Wow...just Wow! It's even worse than I first expected. Without support from your DH....it seems like a lose/lose battle...and to require you to assist her in caring for the kids as well....geesh....she doesn't ask much does she? I'm so sorry for your troubles. The key is going to be what you and your DH decide....regardless of the consequences. I just would not want to spend all that money for a trip that is less likely to be enjoyable for the two of you....even though you love your nieces and nephews....it's a ton of work to rodeo them all. Keep us posted. We will support you every step of your journey!

Agreed! Don't feel bad about venting, @DisPup75 ! So sorry that you are dealing with that when the planning is supposed to be the fun part! Sending positive vibes your way!

QOTD - October 22

Brrr. Another cold and chilly morning out there. What is your favorite hot beverage?

I loveeeee Sleepytime tea with honey! But I'm a little torn on whether or not I should be using Splenda vs. honey-- my food tracker says honey isn't so good, but I can't imagine splenda being better in the long run being artificial... .anyway, I will sacrifice my calories for a little honey. It just doesn't taste right any other way!

Oh, and I had a 197 weigh in this morning!

It's amazing how much leaving a bad situation can be so good for you overall. The pounds are just melting off of you girl. So excited for you and an early congrats on your wedding and Disneymoon. :jumping1:

Jean Luc Picard would agree! ;)

Thank you again. I apologize for turning this thread into an in-law vent fest.

We've all been there. I am so sorry sweetie :grouphug:

Brrr. Another cold and chilly morning out there. What is your favorite hot beverage?

My every day favorite hot beverage is just plain black coffee. However, my all time favorite hot beverage is the Aztec Elixir hot chocolate at Vosges in NYC. Awesome stuff.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a sugar substitute that I like that is healthy. Stevia is one of the best, for natural, but I don't like the taste. I do use Splenda. Until I can adjust to a more healthy brand, it's Stevia for now. In addition to Earl Grey....I do drink diet Hot Chocolate as a treat.

Anyone had the problem of having a top that starts off as "too snug" when you try it on the first time in your closet... and when you're ready to wear it it's actually "too big" and you've missed the window of opportunity completely?

That's me today with my sweater. I bought this super cute sweater a couple of years ago and I never got to wear it because I ballooned up too quickly. Now that I'm smaller it's too big! I still opted to wear it because it'll be the first time I've actually worn it. And the last. Ha!

Had to go to the Disney store yesterday to buy a few new shirts for Disneyland/WDW. They had some that were $15 each and they're cute! Picked up a Disgust shirt that says "Don't wanna talk about it" and an Elsa shirt; hubs got the Anger shirt that looks like he's cursing. Ready to lose these last 13 pounds so I can get clothes and keep them!

Hey guys!

This is literally a 5 second check-in for me, but I wanted to stop by and mention that I'm still alive. Not having the best week, but I've had worse, so I'm trying not to panic about it too much.

I've been reading along and it's great to see some successes. And I'm sorry to hear/read about those who are struggling (both with weight loss and life).
@DisPup75 - it sounds like you're in a nightmare scenario right now. I hope you can figure something out and somehow make the situation work without driving yourself crazy!

And now I have to get off the computer! Hopefully I'll be able to stop by later and actually chat...

QOTD - October 22

Brrr. Another cold and chilly morning out there. What is your favorite hot beverage?

Coffee.... hot with a splash of lowfat milk..... or tea.... lots of different ones (green, black, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Chamomile) with a few drops of stevia.... and my special blend "hot beverage" (kind of a cappuccino/hot chocolate/coffee blend I make myself from a few different things).... in that order!

****************

Hi friends! Got a bit busier here yesterday than I thought I would be, so no time to pop on to catch up on the chatter.... sorry! I am definitely sending out HUGS  to a few friends.... HIGH FIVES to another few:wave: and WOOHOOs party:to others.... I saw some great scale numbers posted, some definite STRESS moments, and just all around news from a lot of you! Sorry I missed so much!

Coming up on some WEDDINGS in the next few days.... I believe we have a :bride: and a :groom: in our group, correct? Prayers going out that these next many days are filled with LOVE, PEACE, and CALMNESS! It will all come together and then you will be off to Disney for the FUN PART!!

Anyhooo..... here are just a few pictures from my Bermuda time.... it was OUTSTANDING! If you like beaches... GO TO BERMUDA! Don't waste time visiting the city of Hamilton however.... yuck. Didn't care for it at all.... but every beach we visited was GORGEOUS. The snorkeling was wonderful (parrotfish, green sea turtles, tangs, squid, octopus, corals.... SO COOL!), the people were SO FRIENDLY everywhere and the food was not QUITE as expensive as I anticipated.

DD and I at the PINK SAND of John Smith's Bay.... truly a BUCKET LIST thing for me!

Last picture of us after our last lunch with DD at her Station (Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences).

So there you go..... if you were expecting BIKINI pictures, sorry!

Working tomorrow, but I should have some weekend time to catch up here... and of course, to report in whatever number the scale will show tomorrow. Yikes!............P

QOTD - October 23

Happy Friday, Kids! Can you believe it??? We are about to start the LAST WEEK of the October challenge!!??!! What plans do you have to make this a great final week? Any obstacles looming that might get in your way? What do to have planned for fun and relaxation this weekend?

Don't forget to submit your updates sometime this weekend! I have a feeling we are going to see some more big percentages....

And finally, big congratulations to @JacknSally!!! We look forward to hearing all about the wedding and the Disneymoon when you return.:love:

Good morning everyone!

I had a crazy weigh in this morning - after weighing in at 150.2 some time yesterday (because I hadn't actually weighed to start the challenge), this morning my scale said 146.8??

Now, I've been trying to cut back a little and exercise more, but that seems weird. However, the scale was very consistent - I stepped on and off about 4 times to make sure that's what it said.

Do you think that it's accurate? It seems like a lot of weight at once to come off (though granted, I weighed yesterday after eating lunch and stuff, so there's that), but at the same time, the scale was consistent.

Basically, should I use that as my check-in for the week, or do you guys think it's an anomaly?

That's easy! As a night shift nurse, I live on black coffee!
