From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

I'm behind. Again. Difficult day on Friday and focusing on DD this weekend. I'll get caught up this week. Check in - my goal is to lose 10 pounds and I've lost 2.4 pounds. Better than nothing I guess.

Seeing some great results from everyone!! SO excited! Don't forget to give your percentages too when you report, so I can track them on the list. Thanks!!

Hey guys! I'm behind, yet again, and rather than try to comment on everything, I've just skimmed the past few pages and have a few things to say...

@JacknSally - Congrats on reaching Onederland, that's awesome! I knew you could do it and I'm so proud of you for making it there! And good luck with the job interview - I hope it works out! And congrats on the size 14 dress - you're getting lots of good news these days! So awesome!

@Flossbolna - Sorry to hear that you're struggling, but I hope things have been getting better. Getting sick is definitely rough, but keep eating well and exercising when you can and hopefully the scale will be giving you some good news again soon!

@ThistleMae - Congrats on the great weigh-in!

@CruisingKate - Congrats on weighing in at 25%! That's awesome!

@courtneybeth - I'm glad the AP mess got resolved! Who knew that going to Disney could be so chaotic? And I love the Halloween snack quilt, it's adorable!

@disneycheerleader - Congrats on being down another pound!

@pjlla - Congrats on being down another .5 lb. It may not sound like much, but even a small loss is an amazing accomplishment!

@DisPup75 - Hey, any loss is a good loss, even if it's impossible....

@belle032 - Time of month definitely has an impact on weight because of water retention and whatnot - try again later in the week and see if you get a better number!

I'm sure I missed some people and some news, so if I didn't have anything specific to say to anyone ... I'm still thinking of you and hoping everyone here is having an awesome weekend that will help set them up for another awesome week!

Friday's weigh in was exactly the same as the week before, which isn't too bad. Since I don't really have a goal, I'm not bothered by staying the same instead of losing - I'm focusing more on behaviors and figuring out why the number is what it is, so I'm going to try to think about that when I have the time.

Okay, this is all the time I have for today. Have a great rest of the weekend, friends!

In order, my priorities for today are......

dinner in the crockpot in the next 30 minutes
DONE ETA: It was yummy!

make a batch of chicken soup for DH's lunches while I'm away.
DONE (Decided to combine two tasks and made a big batch of soup for tonight's dinner and lunches next week.)

clean all three bathrooms (including the floors)
DONE (took longer than I thought, but I was super picky and even washed the plungers and toilet brushes!)

clean the kitchen (including the floor) This will have to wait until tomorrow. It is mostly done.... dishwasher was run and emptied, dish drainer was emptied (before the dinner pots and pans were added, my "paper pile" was sorted and cleaned up, counters wiped, stove wiped, island wiped...... :(

finish all the laundry (probably only have two loads left to wash) plus drying and putting away.
ALL WASHED (FIVE LOADS) and dried and folded.... will put it away before I sit down for the night.

vacuum EVERYWHERE! Downstairs is done.... upstairs needs to wait until my bedroom is clean.

Generally picking up (I am pretty organized, so this shouldn't take long) Except for the men's mess on the kitchen buffet, picking up is DONE!

Dust the living room and dining room.
DONE!

Sweep the mudroom and front porch.
DONE! Even got a bit of "fall" decor out on the porch!

Empty all the trash.
DONE

Print the menu list for the men (I keep revising it!)
Done! If there are any other changes I'll write them in by hand!

FINISH PACKING (yup, not done yet!)
NOPE!!

Straighten up my bedroom.
Always the thing I leave until last. Tomorrow it WILL be done.... because the majority of the mess is my packing piles!

*************************

I need to move a little faster! I'm running out of time today! But this headache isn't helping! Time for a short caffeine/Advil break!.............P

ETA: 7:55 pm. I told myself I would QUIT by 8pm.... otherwise I get kind of "cray-cray" and don't know when to stop!! So I'll put away the wash I folded as I took it off the line and call it a day..... time for a light beer and some TV time with DS (DH is watching football.... ick). TTY tomorrow.........P

13%! yes! A tiny loss! Well, I got it with a little trick: I slept in very late this morning. I know from experience that I am lighter at 10am than at 6am!

Had a great time at the party and managed to withstand the biggest temptation. The food was not diet food, but I managed to not do too much damage.

Thanks for all the encouragement! I hope the next week will be great for all of us!

I fell behind again, so here are the days I missed :)

Today for lunch or dinner, your meal can be ANYTHING. Calories, carbs, and cost don't count. You can have as much food or as many courses as you like with NO repercussion. What would your meal be? If you eat out, where would your meal be from?

My ideal meal...hmmm....

Definitely starting with a delicious cheese plate: some Parmigiano Reggiano, some goat cheese, some Sartori Bellavitano, and some Ziege Zacke Blue, with fruits and crackers to pair. (Put together by my good friend and Certified Cheese Professional Crystal)

Then a small Caesar salad.
And bagna cauda with bread. (Great-grandma's recipe)
And a small plate of stuffed shells. (Great-grandma's recipe)
And corn on the cob. (From a family friend's farm)

A beautiful filet mignon, medium rare. With sauteed mushrooms and onions. (Cooked by my dad)

Dessert would be a small pineapple upside down cake (from my aunt) and a Reese's & Cookie Dough ice cream flurry. (from the local ice cream shop)

QOTD for Thursday, October 8, 2015

Today is your LAST CHANCE WORKOUT (so to speak) before our second round of progress reports for the month!
How will you use today to your advantage to stay on track and ensure - as best you can - a solid percentage for the next list? Are you planning an extra mile on your jog? Drinking an extra bottle of water during the day? Going to bed an hour earlier tonight so you get more sleep? Tell me your plans!

I planned for an extra couple blocks on my walk and increased my water for the day.

QOTD for Friday, October 9, 2015

So as we move into the weekend, I think this is something we could all benefit from remembering - I KNOW that I definitely could. We all get caught up with work, school, family, stress, work outs, weigh ins, cooking, cleaning, etc. and more often than not, we forget to take a minute to take care of ourselves. So this weekend, try to take at least 15 minutes for yourself - lock yourself in the bedroom, read a book, take a bubble bath, paint, go on a jog and don't worry about your time or your distance, go for a drive, listen to some music, WHATEVER can help you have a minute to recover from the week behind us and replenish your energies and just focus on you.

What will you do this weekend to take time for you?

I take time for myself by crocheting and listening to music or catching up on favorite TV shows.

My weigh-in for the week was 278!!!!!!!!!! :flower1: :cloud9: :rainbow:

Overall, I achieved 84% of my goal :D

I lost 7 pounds (out of 0 expected), was 32 ounces shy of 352, ate fast food 3 days out of 11, and did 90 minutes out of 120 physical exercise.

Good morning, everyone! Happy Monday! Happy Columbus Day! Today kicks off my last week as October host, so don't be surprised when you see @DisPup75 's name beside your QOTD's next Monday! I will still be around, though, for sure! It was relatively quiet in here this weekend - I hope that means everyone was out having WONDERFUL WEEKENDS!!! I have seen some BIG numbers reported - CONGRATULATIONS to everyone! I will get that list posted today. I'm hoping that because it is a US Mail Holiday, we might be lucky enough to go home early, since there isn't anything for us to do (we've been assigned to assist another department today, but hopefully with 3 of us doing it, we'll be able to get through it pretty quickly?)... I doubt it, but fingers crossed!

QOTD for Monday, October 12, 2015

I'm sure almost everyone here knows that today is Columbus Day, but did you know it's also National KICK BUTT Day?!

disney-hercules-punch.gif

So tell me how you are going to KICK BUTT today!
Are you finally going to tackle that pile of laundry that's been staring you down all weekend? Maybe you're going to take that bike ride you've been promising yourself you'd take for so long now? Did you break into that new weight decade or century this morning? Or, maybe you're going to use today to prep meals for the rest of the week, or vacuum the bedroom, or pack for your upcoming trip! It can be any obstacle, big or small, that you've been wanting/trying to overcome this month. Today is YOUR DAY to do it! Get out there and KICK BUTT!

Sounds like you had a nice time and came home feeling SUCCESSFUL! I do anticipate a GREAT week!

Yum, yum, and DOUBLE YUM! But what is "bagna cauda"????

I take time for myself by crocheting and listening to music or catching up on favorite TV shows.

I need to take up crocheting again.... well, I say "again" like I every really made anything! But I know the technique! But since I have so much trouble sitting still (because it feels unproductive), if I could crochet I might be able to sit longer! What are you making??

NICE JOB! That is amazing!! Seven pounds in one week??? Crazy!

*****************************************

Morning all! Well... despite saying that I was going to stop working at 8pm, I kept going until about 9:30. I got all of my t-shirts ironed and packed, and two of my three pairs of shorts ironed and packed. Discovered that my khaki shorts have a stain, so they got a dab of detergent and left overnight and are in the washer now. I will take them, regardless of how they come out because it isn't a very big stain and they are my best fitting khaki shorts.... but fingers crossed that it comes out!

Oh my...... just took a minute to get my shorts from the washer to hang out and the stain actually looks WORSE! The area where I poured on a bit of detergent (usually I'd use Dawn dish detergent, but I am out), actually has a big dark spot from the detergent. DANG! I scrubbed the area with some baking soda and then poured on vinegar. It is sitting at the moment.

Breakfast.... despite CRAVING pancakes, I am having an open-faced broccoli slaw omelet with Laughing Cow cheese.

I have started cleaning the kitchen between making coffee and breakfasts and laundry. I also discovered a basket of whites that I didn't fold/put away last night, so that will be next. And then I'll get tonight's dinner going and wash the kitchen floor and then head upstairs to FINISH PACKING!!

I'm sure I'll be popping on a lot today..... it is a great "avoidance mechanism" when I don't feel like cleaning! TTYL..............P

Hi! I just found this board - hope it's not too late to sign up. I'm Krista and I'm in a weight loss challenge at work until December 4. I've done pretty well so far, and am currently sitting in 3rd place! I'm using the Supertracker website and have found that to be an excellent resource. I'm in the heavier end of the normal weight range - my Wii just recently told me I'm no longer overweight :). I'm going to AKL the end of this month and expect to fall off the wagon hard, so I'm making plans on how to stay active and not completely indulge while vacationing. My goal for October is to lose 4 lbs. (and then not gain any while on vacay). Guess I'll be signing up for November too!

Easy one..... I going to KICK THE BUTT of the MESS that is my master bedroom and finally FILL MY SUITCASE!! Kitchen is looking good, other than the mess on the buffet (not my mess!!) and the floor. Office needs a run around with the vacuum, but again, this is mostly DH's home office and the majority of the disaster is his.... so I will ignore it.

So my bedroom and my packing is what I really need to focus on!.............P

Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! Never too late!! October is shaping up to be a great month for many of us, so you joined at a great time! Super jealous of your upcoming trip to Disney! Share a bit about yourself and then feel free to jump into the chatter, full force! .........................P

Sadly midterms are kicking my butt... but I've decided to kick back! My goal today is to try to stay focused on the content that I need to memorize for tomorrow. I'm sort of taking it as a 'light day' at work. Door is closing and I'm immersing myself in it.

Also, I managed to stay within my daily WW points yesterday, despite eating my first In N Out Cheeseburger in about 4 months. Oh my god. It was so delicious.

I'm off of work today so I'm spending the day with DD so my kick butt plans involve keeping up with her. :-) I've done 45 minutes of step activity so far and we've been having dance parties and washing loads of clothes. The rest of the day will include continued planning for next months WDW trip, cooking dinner and maybe another dance party or two. I'm also working on "letting go" of some worries that are plaguing my mind right now. I used to not be a worrier but its amazing how having a child can change your mindset. Now though, I worry over everything and tend to take little things and make them big things. So my kick butt thought for the day.....Whatever will be will be. :-)

Hey all....... well... PHEW! I think I'm finally ready! :crazy2: Everything on yesterday's list got DONE! My suitcases are packed (and unpacked and repacked and rearranged !!!) and in the dining room (just left open for the last minute stuff like my make-up and favorite hairbrush). I moved all of the casseroles I made for the men to the kitchen freezer, so they don't even have to go downstairs.

I have my "travel day" outfit picked out, just need to iron it. And my portable, TSA-approved breakfast AND lunch for Wednesday are packed and in the fridge. My lunch for work tomorrow is made and in the fridge as well. I just need to pick a work outfit for tomorrow (definitely something SIMPLE that doesn't require any thinking or ironing!!) and prep a bit more for tomorrow night's WW meeting.... which I can do on my break at school tomorrow.

I will head to work in the morning (alone.... DS will be driving himself for the first time!!:sad1: ), then home after school to put my suitcases in the car, grab the fridge/freezer stuff we are bringing along and then heading to my WW meeting. I will leave straight from my WW meeting to my Mom's for the night. She has a neighbor who is driving us to the airport at o'dark thirty (only 5:30 actually.... not too bad). Leaving extra early because of Boston traffic. Then I'm OFF!

I'll try to pop on in the morning to say hi and good-bye, but no promises! TTY soon!.......................P

WELCOME @Qmom !!! It is NEVER too late to sign up for one of our monthly challenges - we are all so glad you found us!! Congratulations on dropping out of the "overweight" category - that is incredible! What dates will you be in WDW? I'll be there Oct. 25-31, and @ANforever1030 will be there the week after that! And YES please join us in November!! That thread hasn't been started yet but @courtneybeth will be our FANTASTIC host in November! Welcome aboard!!

I hope you were able to make some big strides on your studying today! And I have heard nothing but amazing things about In N Out. We really need one near me!

I hope you had a wonderful day off with your DD! I know you both enjoyed your dance parties!! party:And that is a wonderful mindset to have - something that I'm sure everyone here could use a little more of. I know I could! It's amazing how little go of even just one or two little stressors can make such a huge impact on your day-to-day! I hope that it worked for you today. :goodvibes:hippie:

OK, show-off! :P Just reading about everything you have gotten done in the last few days has me worn out!! Do you make house calls??

HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!! Enjoy every second with your mom and your DD! Can't wait to hear all about it!!

Just another quick check-in.... I'm so happy we will be home Wednesday night. This week has been trying, the family is stressing me out, I'm grouchy about getting knocked slightly off plan (I was prepared for eating out every night and instead it's been a let's eat in and have macaroni and cheese with no vegetables three nights in a row type of week), and my apparently never ending sinus infection is back.

I'm so proud of how everyone is doing! We are making great progress this month and I look forward to posting the QOTDs while @JacknSally is off getting married and honeymooning instead of having fun with us!

I'm slowly getting caught up in my reading and will try to get back on for a bit tomorrow but these two need to be noted right now!!!

My friends, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, are here to help me celebrate GETTING INTO ONEDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo::jumping1::woohoo:

I FINALLY DID IT! I weighed in this morning at a flat 199.0!
Of course, then I wanted to take a picture, so I went and got my phone... The phone + the case made me weigh in at 200.2. NOPE! So I put the phone down and was 199.0 again. So I tried weighing, then grabbing the phone before the number flashed away, and couldn't get it to focus... and every time I tried, the number was different! So today I weighed in at 199.0, 200.2, 198.8, 199.6, and 199.2. :rotfl::rotfl: Goes to show you just how finicky those scales can be, and why your number should absolutely not be the be-all-and-end-all of your journey!

I finally got a picture at 199.2, so that's what what I'll use for my "goal" tracking today. 199.2/204.0 puts me at 148% of my don't-gain-weight-goal!

So I've done a really bad job at coming back and answering my own QOTD's! Haha. My apologies. I'll start catching up with this one! This weekend we have got a busy, busy list of still-to-do's to knock out, but I am going to make sure that at some point tomorrow morning or tomorrow night before bed, I take at least 15 minutes just to sit outside on our deck with my puppy and do something NOT-wedding-related. Most likely, I will find my way here! Haha.

Hurray! Hurray hurray hurray!!!!! Hold a place for me. :) :) :)
