From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

That thread hasn't been started yet but @courtneybeth will be our FANTASTIC host in November! Welcome aboard!!

NO ONE LOSES WEIGHT LIKE GASTON November Challenge will be epic - but I won't start thinking about that until after tomorrow. You're doing great this month and it's been awesome to see so many gifs of Hercules.

I hope you were able to make some big strides on your studying today! And I have heard nothing but amazing things about In N Out. We really need one near me!

Big strides were made but still a bit of a journey to go. Just had a Mt Dew at 11pm - so I'm ready to roll. Got a great score on the exam from last week - 95%. Yeah! I'll take it.... let's keep the momentum for tomorrow.

WELCOME @Qmom !!! It is NEVER too late to sign up for one of our monthly challenges - we are all so glad you found us!! Congratulations on dropping out of the "overweight" category - that is incredible! What dates will you be in WDW? I'll be there Oct. 25-31, and @ANforever1030 will be there the week after that! And YES please join us in November!! That thread hasn't been started yet but @courtneybeth will be our FANTASTIC host in November! Welcome aboard!!

Thanks so much! I'll be there from Oct 30 to Nov 13 and can't wait! I've been reading up on healthy food choices (because I haven't ever made them before at WDW!) and preparing myself to deal with my dessert problem :) I'm also planning to actually try out the fitness center, even though I've never even seen it, let alone gone in. Big plans, but we'll see how it works out.

Let's see those yummy healthy recipes! It can be anything - crock pot meals, low carb, freeze ahead, detox water, soup, salad, whatever! Just keep it healthy. :-)

Healthy Recipe is just making some homemade Zuppa Soup using Cauliflower vs. Potatoes and not as much cream at the end.. It really is delish..

Pam have a great trip with your Mom and YAY for DS (even though I feel your sadness when the last one can drive themselves)

Hope everyone is having a great day .. Michelle

Hey all....... well... PHEW! I think I'm finally ready! :crazy2: Everything on yesterday's list got DONE! My suitcases are packed (and unpacked and repacked and rearranged !!!) and in the dining room (just left open for the last minute stuff like my make-up and favorite hairbrush). I moved all of the casseroles I made for the men to the kitchen freezer, so they don't even have to go downstairs.

I have my "travel day" outfit picked out, just need to iron it. And my portable, TSA-approved breakfast AND lunch for Wednesday are packed and in the fridge. My lunch for work tomorrow is made and in the fridge as well. I just need to pick a work outfit for tomorrow (definitely something SIMPLE that doesn't require any thinking or ironing!!) and prep a bit more for tomorrow night's WW meeting.... which I can do on my break at school tomorrow.

I will head to work in the morning (alone.... DS will be driving himself for the first time!!:sad1: ), then home after school to put my suitcases in the car, grab the fridge/freezer stuff we are bringing along and then heading to my WW meeting. I will leave straight from my WW meeting to my Mom's for the night. She has a neighbor who is driving us to the airport at o'dark thirty (only 5:30 actually.... not too bad). Leaving extra early because of Boston traffic. Then I'm OFF!

I'll try to pop on in the morning to say hi and good-bye, but no promises! TTY soon!.......................P

You definitely have earned a vacation after all that preperation that you managed for it! I am so impressed!!

Have a fantastic time in Bermuda with your mother and daughter! I hope you will show us some pictures when you get back!!

I am here to report a personal success!! I was out at lunch at a thai place that we often go to. I had a pumpkin and chicken breast dish, so heavy on the veggies, lean meat and the sauce was not heavy either. But the best was: I was able to slow down when eating and then realised that I was full before I had eaten everything on my plate. I was able to leave some food on the plate even though it was delicious!! I am struggling so much with making myself stop eating at the right point. I know that when I am very mindful of how I eat it gets better and I have been trying hard those last weeks to improve in that regard. So, this was a major success for me!!

@JacknSally I saw over the weekend that Netflix here in Germany has Hercules available! That's my plan for tonight - I have a huge basket full of laundry that needs to be ironed and I think it will make for a fun evening to watch Hercules while taking care of my ironing!

Good morning, everyone! Happy Monday! Happy Columbus Day! Today kicks off my last week as October host, so don't be surprised when you see @DisPup75 's name beside your QOTD's next Monday! I will still be around, though, for sure! It was relatively quiet in here this weekend - I hope that means everyone was out having WONDERFUL WEEKENDS!!! I have seen some BIG numbers reported - CONGRATULATIONS to everyone! I will get that list posted today. I'm hoping that because it is a US Mail Holiday, we might be lucky enough to go home early, since there isn't anything for us to do (we've been assigned to assist another department today, but hopefully with 3 of us doing it, we'll be able to get through it pretty quickly?)... I doubt it, but fingers crossed!

QOTD for Monday, October 12, 2015

I'm sure almost everyone here knows that today is Columbus Day, but did you know it's also National KICK BUTT Day?!

View attachment 128312

So tell me how you are going to KICK BUTT today!
Are you finally going to tackle that pile of laundry that's been staring you down all weekend? Maybe you're going to take that bike ride you've been promising yourself you'd take for so long now? Did you break into that new weight decade or century this morning? Or, maybe you're going to use today to prep meals for the rest of the week, or vacuum the bedroom, or pack for your upcoming trip! It can be any obstacle, big or small, that you've been wanting/trying to overcome this month. Today is YOUR DAY to do it! Get out there and KICK BUTT!
I have cheer practice tonight and I will throw my back handspring from the air track to the resi mat. I have done it before but I need to pull it.
ETA- I did pull but I undercut and it wasn't as good as with a spot.

OK, I went back to page 1 and went through every post on every page trying to pick up every participant! Haha. If I still missed you, I am SO SORRY! Please let me know!!

If there is no number next to your name, I did not get a result post/message for week two. Please be sure to post your percentages, too, so they can be added here! If left on my own to calculate, I will likely come up with some absurd number, LOL.

Well done!! Despite your work place trying to sabotage your efforts in every way possible! I hope this week it is better with less snacks around?

Yesterday was good in the office...today someone brought sausage biscuits for breakfast and another coworker baked a couple dozen cookies and brought them in! Add my birthday tomorrow to the list of pitfalls that are waiting for me! But on the right side of things I am exercising more than I have in a long time.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!! How are we all doing?

My work computer is acting up, so this will be a short post until I can get it to cooperate. The boards are just too much of a pain on my phone. So sorry!!

QOTD for Tuesday, October 13, 2015

We've talked about Disney foods. Last month we talked about Disney rides. So today, let's talk about Disney hotels. You've got a week long vacation at the Disney park of your choice, and your hotel room for that week is 100% comped, no matter what hotel or preference you want. SO! Which one do you choose? Do you have any special room requests? Views? Locations? Tell me, tell me!

It's an easy choice for me as you can tell from my profile :-) No place says home to me like Old Key West. I would like a 1st floor grand villa in buildings 23-26. I would also like unlimited dining at Olivia's and free Turtle Krawls for the week while I'm dreaming.

Which park I want depends on my mood.
If I want to head west, then I'm staying at the Disneyland Hotel, preferably in the Mickey Mouse Penthouse suite (although I'd take the Fairy Tale Suite if that's not available).
In Florida, I'd want to do a split stay, starting off with a Cars Suite at Art of Animation (my favorite hotel!), then switching over mid-week to a theme park view at the Contemporary.
If I'm feeling really adventurous, then it's off to Tokyo for a stay in a Beauty and the Beast room at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel!

That is an easy one: Tokyo Disney, Hotel Miracosta with theme park view (i.e. looking out over Tokyo Disney Sea). My absolute dream vacation!!

But otherwise, I think I would be happy with a suite at the Animal Kingdom Lodge - or one of those honeymoon cottages at the Boardwalk Inn.

You see, I have expensive tastes!! :rotfl2:

Nope.... no house calls, sorry! (Although I often help DD clean her dorm room when I visit!). Thanks for the good trip wishes!
Just another quick check-in.... I'm so happy we will be home Wednesday night. This week has been trying, the family is stressing me out, I'm grouchy about getting knocked slightly off plan (I was prepared for eating out every night and instead it's been a let's eat in and have macaroni and cheese with no vegetables three nights in a row type of week), and my apparently never ending sinus infection is back.

Oh my, my, my! That sounds like a tough situation to be in as far as food choices! Prayers that things get back on track for you soon. And SO SORRY about the sinus infection. If it really is an infection and anti-biotics haven't worked yet, you should DEFINITELY go back to the doctor for another look-see. Those infections are NO FUN!!

I wish you a restful, happy, wonderful trip with mom and daughter!
Some GREAT numbers there considering we aren't even at the half-way point of October yet!!

WONDERFUL job on the 95%! Hopefully that gave you a confidence boost so that you know YOU GOT THIS! Good luck today!!

Hope everyone is having a great day .. Michelle

What a great idea with the soup! Glad someone else can understand that sadness about that big independent steps of DRIVING! And silly me..... when I got behind the wheel I drove halfway to the high school before I realized I would be overshooting the mark since I only had to go to the elementary school! Nearly 6 years of driving my kiddos to the high school every day..... guess it will be a hard habit to break!

You definitely have earned a vacation after all that preperation that you managed for it! I am so impressed!!

Don't be too impressed.... most of the house was LOOOOONNNGG overdue for a good cleaning! And I am combining my "pre-trip cleaning" with my Fall cleaning.... so other than windows that I'll do when I get back, Fall cleaning is done!!

Have a fantastic time in Bermuda with your mother and daughter! I hope you will show us some pictures when you get back!!

I will DEFINITELY share pictures!! Thanks for the good wishes!

That is a HUGE success! It is such a hard thing when you've been brought up to belong to the "clean plate club" as many of us were! It wasn't until I started talking to my OWN kids about not finishing if they weren't actually still hungry that it really resonated with me that I have been guilty of that in the past! And it is EXTRA HARD when it is a delicious restaurant meal!

@JacknSally I saw over the weekend that Netflix here in Germany has Hercules available! That's my plan for tonight - I have a huge basket full of laundry that needs to be ironed and I think it will make for a fun evening to watch Hercules while taking care of my ironing!

That is what I do when I iron as well..... time to indulge my guilty pleasure of mindless television!! Hope you enjoyed it (the movie.... not the ironing!).

I have cheer practice tonight and I will throw my back handspring from the air track to the resi mat. I have done it before but I need to pull it.
ETA- I did pull but I undercut and it wasn't as good as with a spot.

Well... I don't understand most of that.... but I hope the handspring went well! :flower:

Oh my GOSH! Unless you work in a market or a bakery, I do NOT understand why there is SO MUCH FOOD at your office!!

HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY!! :cake:

Oh my!!! The list is endless. Because I am so cheap/thrifty/poor (choose whichever one you want) I haven't stayed beyond a VALUE in the past 24 years!! I stayed at the Contemporary in 1974 (first trip with my family) and the Carribean Beach Resort in 1992 (Honeymoon).... and it has only been VALUES since then.. Don't get me wrong..... I love the value Disney hotels.... but it is a DREAM to stay at some of the more "exciting" resorts..... AKL and Bay Lake Towers come to mind first. I would absolutely ADORE staying at a Monorail resort... and more specifically at the Contemporary/BLT so that I could WALK to the MK!! Magic Kingdom view, please!!! Poly and GF would be nice, but don't excite me terribly (but how fun to be able to say "been there, done that"). AKL with a view of the savannah would be delightful! I can only imagine waking up and looking out and seeing a GIRAFFE outside my window! Honestly..... ANY Disney hotel would be exciting! How about a Little Mermaid room at AoA!!??? With a private chauffeur please! I hate taking Disney transportation.... it makes my impatient, OCD, ADD personality go nuts!!

Special room requests you say?? Hmmmmmm... fridge stocked with sparkling water, fresh fruit, wine, and beer and daily morning breakfast delivery!!

In 2010 when I took my DS for a Mother/Son Disney trip, we ALMOST had this type of situation. We stayed at the Hilton at DTD (now known as Disney Springs) on Hilton Honors Points.... DH had been traveling a lot for work and we had enough points for our entire stay! Plus, since DH was a "platinum" (or is it diamond??) member, we got upgraded (without even knowing it) to an upper level with a Disney view AND free breakfast in the "Honors Club" room every morning (nothing fancy, but it was FREE.... eggs, yogurt, pastries, juice, coffee, deli meats, cheese)!! That was actually a pretty cool stay! The only drawback was having to pay for parking at the hotel.

So there you go!

****************************

Morning all! Well..... my LUCKY STAR must be shining bright!!! I got to work today and was doing my morning duty when the office supervisor came out and told me I could GO HOME WITH PAY!!!! They ended up with an EXTRA SUB! party: Honestly, there aren't enough SMILIES to express how excited I am! For the past two weeks while I've been proctoring tests with two other subs, I've also been covering the office in the afternoon (until about 3:10) when the test proctoring was done (one of the office staff is working half time due to an injury). The other two Subs that were proctoring left between 1:30 and 2:30 EVERY DAY! I was kind of grumbling in my head that since I know the office and have proven to be capable and trustworthy (I have administrative access to PowerSchool) I was getting "punished" and didn't get to leave early. But I kept my grumbling to myself... trying hard to be more POSITIVE on a daily basis. I knew that it may pay off in the long run and it did!!!!!!!!!!

Anyhow..... when I left this morning I was feeling pretty ready to go and I wasn't really in "panic mode"..... but it is so NICE to have a bit of extra time at home today to feel REALLY ready!

Off to fold just ONE MORE load of laundry and run the vacuum around one more time! I'll pop on again before I head out for WW later!...............P

ETA: That's weird..... my smilies aren't showing up. Oh well....

That's excellent news! Happy early birthday to you - I hope it's wonderful :) You'll survive - just remember, everything in moderation. You're learning the important skills of life - when and when not to indulge and how to not let other's food choices affect your own body's needs. Keep up the good fight!

THANK YOU! I am so nervous. Just trying to not learn any new information so the facts I do have don't leave my brain. I'm afraid that old facts will leave if new ones come in!! :rotfl2:

Oh man ... so many good choices!

Disney World: Grand Floridian - 1 bedroom suite with club access :)
It's the one hotel that I've always wanted to stay at but the cost has been a deterrent. (Trying to book this as part of a bounce back offer in December - fingers crossed for room-only discount). I remember as a little girl when I saw the hotel that I thought Mary Poppins lived there. I'm sure that the character breakfast didn't help since I thought she just would eat with you ;) . The entire place just feels regal and gorgeous.

Disneyland: Disneyland Hotel - The Fairytale Signature Suite
Okay so... I've only ever stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel (30th birthday) since I live so close the parks. But if I could ever have enough money the signature suites are so amazing. The fairy tale suite is my favorite because it is just filled with so many little details and it's super romantic. Definitely worth the google search to see all of the different signature suites available.

Disneyland Paris: Disneyland Hotel. Sleeping Beauty Suite.
Disneyland Paris is so beautiful that a theme park view is a must. Especially since the hotel literally acts as the main gates and your view is of main street and the castle. The SB Suite is so pretty from the pictures I've seen.

Tokyo Disney: Disneyland Hotel - Beauty and the Beast room.
Obvious answer is obvious. Favorite Disney movie and I love the fact that has little details, like the rose in the headboard. (Needs more Gaston!)

Hong Kong Disney: Maybe the Disneyland Hotel in a club-level room? Eh... we studied this disneyland in our International Business class and I have to say that I have no desire to go here. :(

Hi all! Well..... what do you do when you get a "free" day to yourself? Clean, of course! :rotfl2: DS's room was the one space that got NO attention this weekend.... so I hit it hard today..... one hour was all it got, but that was enough to at LEAST get the basics done..... sheets changed and bed made, trash emptied, crap/junk/papers/laundry picked up off the floor, items appropriately stowed or trashed, clean laundry put away, rug vacuumed and hamper emptied. PHEW! I feel much better not leaving that mess!

I also did one last load (well..... I thought it would be the last load until I found DS's hamper) of wash and ran the vacuum all around again. Now I'm just "nit-picking".... rearranging the suitcase, rearranging my carry-on, and WORRYING about what I forgot!!:confused3

Meant to do one last weigh-in this morning before getting dressed, but it totally slipped my mind. Considering bringing my scale with me to my Mom's and doing a last minute "pre-vacation" weigh-in tomorrow morning, but I know from experience that the 5 am weigh-ins aren't always great.

Off to pack a healthy dinner to eat after WW on the drive to Mom's..... probably something boring like a chicken wrap and an apple, but good enough!

BTW, already totally trashed yesterday's manicure with all of this cleaning.... oh well.

I will try to pop on from the airport tomorrow morning! Otherwise, no promises (resort wifi is $15/day!! )!................P

My haunted house on a hill painting is done - I had so much fun tonight. It was done under blacklights, so I opted to take two photos of it: one in black lights and another in normal lights. What a spooky painting!

I have to say - I love my pumpkin in the corner. :thumbsup2
Love this...it's just so original and so spooky! Great job!

Hmmm, any hotel, comped?! Love this question. We really love POFQ because of the theming and the memories of past stays this evokes. We've been to Beach Club twice and love the location. Maybe I would try the Grand Floridian, Club level. But I'd be pushing myself out of my comfort zone; we just love POFQ! We return there for our first December trip ever- can't wait!

Hey guys! Stopping in for just a quick second to make a selfish request for some thoughts/prayers/good vibes/pixie dust! It's 2:48p here and my interview is at 5p. Definitely feeling the nerves start to act up! Be back later to check in and catch up with everyone more fully!
