Portions of the Northeast are in for a snowy day Thursday as todayâs Southern storm morphs into an East Coast cyclone and takes on a much more comprehensive wintry demeanor. Snow will continue to move northward through Virginia tonight before sweeping into southern New England tomorrow. Substantial snow will coat the central Appalachians through tonight, with the axis of heaviest snow tomorrow stretching from northern Virginia to southern New Jersey. The Currier & Ives scenery will move into Washington/Baltimore, tonight; Philadelphia, tomorrow morning; New York City, later in the morning; and Boston, tomorrow afternoon. Preliminary snowfall estimates: Washington/Baltimore, 4 to 8 inches; Philly and NYC, 3-6 inches; and Boston, 1-3 inches. Merry Christmas!
