Nice weather report...hopefully we'll hit a warm spell next year.

We're taking off on Sat. to My Happy Place on the Mendocino coast for a few days of hiking, rest and relaxation. It's our annual trip to celebrate our b-days, but I guess we'll miss it next year. I think we'll get over it since we'll be Wondering through the Canal.

Enjoy your vacation! Happy Birthday!

In case anyone is looking for me a year from now -- I'll be getting my Cabana massage on serenity bay. But I enjoyed seeing a lot of you at lunch at the Air Bar!
:thumbsup2
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen..

Sorry..your weather report is a little late today..afterall.. we are on vacation and I decided to sleep in (ok..so I woke up with a migraine!)

Today on Castaway Cay is 68 degree with mostly cloudy skies..the UV index is low at a 1...

Enjoy your day with a frosty beverage or as Shoshie is..with a massage at the cabana.

We will be departing Castaway Cat at 4:30 PM and heading towards Aruba which is 950 nautical miles away...

Enjoy!
Thanks
Jan 7 2011 Castaway Cay

Dear everyone at home (where it was snowing last year and 32 degrees in the afternoon):

This trip is going to be great. Connected with some old cruisemates and am in the process of matching names & faces to new (and future) ones.

The wave runner trip to the sand bar was fantastic - warm blue Caribbean blue water (like in a painting), calm for the first time that visited CC - must be the month. Good thing I booked in the am, since it was starting to get choppy after lunch.

Serenity Bay is too good to leave - why can't we just stay on the beach overnight - they've got toilets and showers on the island ! Then I could watch the sun go down while strolling on the beach.

Lynne

I cant wait to try serenity bay next time, Ive always had my dn with me.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!
We are in the Seminole Heights area, I work at home and DH works just off of Dale Mabry. I am a customer service rep for a health insurance company and DH is an attorney. What do you all do? :)
The weather reports are awesome, I am keeping notes in my sad little binder (but will be overstuffed by next year lol).
We did Castaway Cay on our first cruise, but have not done it since. It is too crowded and hot for us. We like quiet beaches around sunset. Though, next year I am thinking we will get off for a while, I am afraid of cabin fever for the long stretch of sea days if we don't. We will probably end up renting a cabana on Serenity Bay if we can get one. If not, we will play it by ear. Any other recommendations for CC?
Have a great day! :thumbsup2

For you Seinfeld fans: Serenity Now, Serenity Now

For the rest of the adults: Serenity Bay, Serenity Bay

For Seinfeld adult fans: Serenity Bay Now, Serenity Bay Now

I really wish we could stay longer and be on the beach at sunset. But without streetlights, it might be difficult to sweep the island for stragglers (but aren't the Disney Parks pretty dark at night?)

Definitely go to Serenity Bay (or not - so it's even less crowded for the rest of us). I find the family beach and Serenity Bay to be like two different islands. First, it's a natural bay (no retaining wall - and no barrier net :scared1: for large fish). The water is so clear for so far out. Put on some water shoes and just walk in and look down at the fishes (not a bunch; not really worth the money of snorkel gear IMO - you could use plain swim goggles). Pull up a chair into the water and hang out. Pick a lounge chair or hammock. No kids, just relaxation.

Lunch is more like eating on a tropical island, too. No Disney look like Cookie's BBQ.

Serenity Bay at CC is one of my favorite beaches (above Hawaii-cold water and St John USVI-crime).

Lynne

Can't wait for today's weather report. Really need to find out if there's choppy seas on the cruise down to Aruba.

I honestly didnt think the beach was that crowded, we walked right to the very end, next to the sting rays and I think we were almost alone.
It was very, very nice, I will have to post a picture so we can look forward

No, def not crowded, this was 2pmish if I mind right.

Just a word of advice about the beaches on this cruise. I have a feeling the guest make up is going to be similar to the other PC cruises, meaning a lot of adults and not so many kids. That means the beaches flip flop. Serenity Bay in 2005 for that PC cruise was PACKED and the regular beach was relatively empty.
Just something to keep in mind!

can anyone tell me what the policy is about little kids on Castaway Cay? My kids are big but I have friends cruising and they are wondering if they can put their kids in a kids club or in some activity on Castaway Cay, and go to Serenity Bay themselves. Also what is the policy in port? Can kids stay on the ship? I am thinking they may have to tag team it with the other family they are travelling with. Like a mom shopping morning in port and a dad "go for a beer", then nest port a couple 1 morning and a couple 2 afternoon. Something like thaqt anyway....

The kids club activities move to CC. I don't think Disney has a policy about leaving kids on the boat alone (any port of call). My nieces (not little kids, mind you) stayed on board while their mom and I went ashore at CC, Cozumel, and Key West.

We are on our way to Port Canaveral now for our Dream cruise. Cozumel now will be 65 on Monday. I was planning on doing a Manatee swim! We like to snorkel at CC but one time in Feb we did not get in and rode bikes. That was fun too.Still 95 in Panama.

Good morning cruisers! :yay:

Welcome to your first day at sea... today the temperature will be a high of 66degrees and we currently have waves of 2-3 feet (it's amazing what searching the internet you will actually find!)

The shops are open for your convenience and the spa is running a sea day special (aren't they always running something?) - there will be a game of bingo sometime today and a wonderful show tonight...the drink of the day is some fruit thingy majiggy.... enjoy your day!

I am apologizing for my terrible typing in advance.

You will laugh.

I sometimes have my lap top on a wall mount tv stand in front of my treadmill.:rotfl: So I am walking and typing and not very good at it sometimes! Please excuse my mistakes!!!!!

I figured that if I spend as much time exercising as I do planning my PC cruise, I will loose the 20lbs I put on on my last two Disney holidays...I guess we'll see if it works...HAHAHA!

I love the day by day updates of our "virtual cruise".

Ah -- interesting observation. Trade off -- serenity bay is crowded -- but we get to make FLUBBER!

However, nothing shall stop me from my cabana massage!

Also, the family beach area will be twice as large since they will have finished the island makeover for the Dream.... so maybe we can have Serenity Bay I and Serenity Bay II: Electric Boogaloo farther down from the main family beach?
:flower3:

I would not worry if I was you!

I think I would put a hundred bucks on you having a massage!:thumbsup2

Well just wanted to say hi to everyone. DW and I went to go see Mary Poppins last night. What an amazing show. If it comes to your town, or close to it I highly recomend going to see it. As for the cruise, can't wait. We are just trying to figure out if we will be cancelling our TA in Sep. We will see.

Currently my husband and I are at the Radison at Port Canaveral we got a AAA for $105 but as you walk in there is a rack with coupons and one for the hotel for $10 off. Hertz is the closest rental car company. There is also a Country Inn and Residence Inn closest to the port. The Radison has a breakfast for not so much I think $8.99 and Mac D 's across the street and a Pizza place and SubWay close by too. There is a place to eat here too somewhat pricy. The hotel will take you where ever you like. Cocoa Beach Surf company gives 15% discount. The hotel will take you to the pier but the earliest we could get was 12:30. Overall a nice place to stay.
