Wow, auntlynne, you have an amazing talent. Welcome aboard!

Anyone going to be in the World from Dec. 18-26?

...Also is Deck 5 loud with the Movie Theater and clubs there?

I'm s-t-i-l-l reading the posts :surfweb:

We love deck 5. The cabin hallways are not in a straight line with the main corridors outside Flounders, movie theatre...; and the number of cabins fore and aft are fewer, so fewer people headed towards their rooms. We had 5522 secret porthole on our first cruise - the noise we had came from across the hall where the cabin attendants came in and out.

Lynne (the one from Alabama, not Orlando the Beagle from Scotland)

We originally booked a CAT 11B GTY (2 adults, 2 kids) and we have already been assigned a cabin

Wow. Really? Has anyone else in a GTY cabin received their room assignments? We're in a 6GTY and would love to know we're been allocated.

Is that really "GoodmorningladiesandgentlemenboysandgirlsthisisBrentyourcruisedirector?"

...My poor DH groaned the other day, "You're going to bug us about Disney stuff for the next year, aren't you?"...

I couldn't stop laughing

...Truthfully, being with my family is like living in Toontown 24/7, we are all just a bunch of crazy cartoon characters...and I am SO not kidding!...

I don't think those kids stand a chance with parents like that...

...For the EBPC in 2008 we had the following dining rotation:
Embarkation - Parrot Cay (Let the Magic Begin menu)
At Sea - Lumiere's - Formal Night (Golden Mickeys menu)
Cabo - Animator's Palate (Animator's Palate menu)
Puerto Vallarta - Parrot Cay (Taste of California Menu)
At Sea - Lumiere's (Lumiere's menu)
Acapulco - Animator's Palate - Mexican Night (Mexican Riviera menu)
At Sea - Parrot Cay (Parrot Cay menu)
At Sea - Lumiere's - Semi-Formal Night (Prince and Princess Dinner menu)
Panama Canal - Animator's Palate (West Meets East menu)
Cartegena - Parrot Cay - Tropical Night (Taste of Caribbean menu)
At Sea - Lumiere's (Master Chef's menu)
Aruba - Animator's Palate - Mickey Mouse Club (Around the World menu)
At Sea - Parrot Cay - Pirate Night (Pirate menu)
At Sea - Lumiere's - Formal Night (Captain's Gala menu)
Castaway Cay - Animator's Palate (Till We Meet Again menu)...

We didn't get off the ship in P.V. ...DH and I basically checked out the Walmart and got back on the ship.

The best dining room rotation EVER to compliment your clothes.

I make a point of going to Wal-Mart when I travel, just to see what changes from place to place. I especially love buying things for my brother at Wallyworld - he is a bit of a snob, now living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. When he comes home to visit, invariably he needs something; for example, he forgot his jeans and wanted to find an Abercombie & Fitch; he looked at a bunch of department stores with their $75+ jeans and couldn't find what he wanted. I took him to Wal-Mart and got him $12 Levi's (as I laughed my way out the store).

I also love visiting grocery stores - the ones in England are great. Just give me some of that Tesco Strawberries and English Channel cream yogurt - and the very best raspberries I have ever eaten.

As requested, Below are a few of the menus from the EB PC 2008. ... The first is East Meets West which was the menu the night we went thru the Canal. I imagine they may "recyle" this menu for our cruise. :)

We had the sane on the WB. But for us it was east meets west. And we got to keep the menus from that night.

When you have spent the last 5-6 hours reading these posts and it is 4am, this becomes the funniest thing ever. Sorry, shark avatar (Bruce-Alan) - the "recycle the menu" and its double meaning kept me in stitches.

Taking you back about 6 weeks ago...Star Trek vs. Star Wars vs. BSG, SG-1, etc... I give you that homage to Star Trek -- Galaxy Quest.

Guy Fleegman: I changed my mind. I wanna go back.
Sir Alexander Dane: After the fuss you made about getting left behind?
Guy Fleegman: Yeah, but that's when I thought I was the crewman that stays on the ship, and something is up there, and it kills me. But now I'm thinking I'm the guy who gets killed by some monster five minutes after we land on the planet.
Jason Nesmith: You're not gonna die on the planet, Guy.
Guy Fleegman: I'm not? Then what's my last name?
Jason Nesmith: It's, uh, uh - -I don't know.
Guy Fleegman: Nobody knows. Do you know why? Because my character isn't important enough for a last name, because I'm gonna die five minutes in.
Gwen DeMarco: Guy, you have a last name.
Guy Fleegman: DO I? DO I? For all you know, I'm "Crewman Number Six"! Mommy... mommy...

Sir Alexander Dane: Could they be the miners?
Fred Kwan: Sure, they're like three years old.
Sir Alexander Dane: MINERS, not MINORS.
Fred Kwan: You lost me.

Guy Fleegman: Did you guys ever WATCH the show?

[Trying to explain TV to the Thermians]
Gwen DeMarco: They're not ALL "historical documents." Surely, you don't think Gilligan's Island is a...
[All the Thermians moan in despair]
Mathesar: Those poor people.

Okay, it's almost 5 am and I'm up to about page 103. Getting there :surfweb:

Hi All,

My family is booked on this PC cruise and still debating it. We really want to do it but the cost is a consideration so I've been checking the DCL website to see if the prices are going to drop..........what do you think?

I've noticed the prices haven't changed since the first day of booking so I am wondering how it is selling and if they may offer some incentives for people to book?

We originally booked a CAT 11B GTY (2 adults, 2 kids) and we have already been assigned a cabin.......I was surprised that they would assign it so early. I am hoping they open the CAT 11C cabins to parties of 4 (like the CAT 12 GTY previously) and drop the price.

So what does everyone think? Is it slow selling? Will they offer any "better deals" to sell more cabins? Why did they assign a cabin so early? Just a few questions for the board.

TIA

Chris
:confused3Sorry,havent a clue!

Good job Aunty Lynne! I am only Aunty Lynne when dn wants something, funny, I get very twitchy all the Aunty Lynnes I see!

Auntylynne, now I must go rent Galaxy Quest and watch it again...I'd forgotten how much fun it was!

It's taking a while to get caught up on reading this thread (I can't remember if I introduced myself or not - I'll find out later when I have caught up).

In the meantime, for your enjoyment,

That's VERY clever, AuntLynne!

People on this thread seem to be very creative, to say the least.

I like to shop in foreign lands - not Wallyworld, not jewelry stores, nor gift shops - but the stationer, the hardware store, and book shops! It's quite amazing what one can find.

Sorry to have dropped off the face of the earth. Both Jeff and I are swamped right now, (toddlers are waaaay to much work!). I've been in the middle of renovations at work plus it's finals week at school. This sounds awful but I almost was happy to get the phone call from Jack's school that he had a stomach bug and needed to come home. Naps all around!

That looks neat. If there is enough interest, it might be worth organizing a group order as they have a minimum set up fee of $10 for under 50 certificates.

-Kay

I know that the site says this but I am pretty sure we didn't pay a $10 set up fee extra or my DH wouldn't have gone for it. I may be wrong because I do have that "age" thing going of bad memory but I don't think we did.

Carol

Lynne, are you up early or sleeping late?!?!?!

I was still up at 5 am; finally went to sleep around 7. Told my dad to wake me at 12:30 to see Jeopardy! on TV. Wonder if that short sleep will let me go to bed at a decent hour tonight. Two things could prevent that: caffeine after lunch (didn't effect me when I was younger) and trying to catch up on this thread. I'm caught up to p 122 (October 27). I am a fast reader, but this has been slow going.

...Smelled something odd as I'm typing this ... and remembered I had the custard part of tapioca pudding on the stove. Yep, it stuck to the bottom of the pan - I wonder if extra sugar and plenty of vanilla can cover up that slightly burnt milk flavor. This Disboard is dangerous to my sleep and my cooking.

Ummm - NO! Once scorched, always scorched! Toss it.

:hug:Jen! This time, too, shall pass! Hang tough!

Deluging here, this morning. I'm NOT going out to the gym:laughing:

Happy day, all!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I have now read the entire thread.

So, let me introduce myself.

I am the third Lynne on this cruise, along with orlandothebeagle and totallymickey; I almost never see this name, especially with the final "e." I looked it up in the baby name book once; it read "this name has fallen into disuse; sometimes used as a middle name."

I am an RN who is currently a stay-at-home daughter to my 80 yo dad (limited mobility due to S-shaped spine and bad joints); lost mother to Alzheimer's this year and am working through the adjustment of not having to follow her around and keep her company.

As usual, there seems to be a bunch of nurses on this thread; if you ever get sick on a Disney Cruise, you're probably within earshot of a nurse.

To you Zonies - I worked at Banner Desert Hospital from 2001-2003 in L&D; lived in North Scottsdale (Gray Hawk - 50 miles RT 5 days a week, ugh!) the first year, then moved to Higley (Guadalupe Road near Power - much closer) before coming back home to Alabama. Never could understand why people slowed down on the freeway when there was a curve in the road.

I'm traveling solo this time. Next up is BTB EB Transatlantic and 11-night Med April/May 2010 with 16 yo niece (who has been on all 3 of my previous cruises, all DCL). Then this PC and a 4-night Dream (solo) in Feb 2011 and Alaska for my June 2011 50th birthday (with the entire family - 8 people - I have no aunts, uncles or 1st cousins).

My nieces know my mantra - "There are people out there who save up their entire lives for just one Disney vacation;" the girls even quote it along with me. I want them to know how fortunate they are with all the experiences they have - then I read these boards and am also amazed at how many people are so blessed to be able to repeatedly enjoy this fun!

Lindababe and annmorr, et al - if you need a roommate to keep you on this cruise (yes, that single supplement is punishing), pm me and we'll talk. I am a non-wild, non-wallflower cruiser. I spent my last cruise playing Bingo with Shoshie, disnavlman, Goofprincess and Chipmerliner (I think that's the names for Shoshie, Adam, Sandy, Tony, Shirley and Doug) along with Chip It Golf and night-time adult activities in Diversions? Wave Bands - you repeaters know what I'm talking about.

My 2 cents to lurkers: We (the above Bingo-ers) met because of the boards, not from talking on the boards or in the chat room; it was wearing the lanyards and doing the FEs that gave us the entree (sp? I don't know French) to talk and play.

It is going to be great to get to know you better Lynne.

I chatted a while we were booked on ebt, we swapped to the west.
I am afraid that my dn takes stuff for granted, last week, we were in company and talking about hols and I said " we want to do the dream but it will be in school hols so that Shaun can go" she said, " maybe I dont want to go" And I said.....nothing...I nearly cried but for various reasons it will most likely be that she has had her last cruise and vacation paid for by me.:sad2:

Hi everyone. Just got back from the Wonder. I'll need to wait until DD takes a nap to post more details and catch up on this thread but just wanted to post that we heard some interesting Dream news. Captain said the Dream will arrive in port on 1/4/2011! Luckily I didn't cancel my Radisson reservations. We should be able to check her out for before we set sail! Not sure why the inaugural cruise isn't until 1/26?? :confused3 I didn't have time to ask questions, we had to leave the CC meet early.

Me too! :woohoo:

WELCOME! I am in the midst of the homesickness myself as I was on the Magic Nov 7th and did a back to back. DCL certainly has it's hooks (or would that be the anchor) embedded deeply in me.

Do they make you get off the ship and go through customs...change rooms...or do they just lock you in your room until the Ship is ready to go again!!! LOL!!!
