Morning started out bad. The alarm didnt go off and we over slept 20 min. only 5 min late to hospital tho. Dr. wanted to start early. Told me it would be about 5 hrs. Dr came out to talk 3 1/2 hrs the surgery was done! He said DH has a very young body for his age. He is 65, but Dr was able to do a procedure normally reserved for 40 yr olds. Got to see him at 11:30 and he was still asleep with about 20 tubes and wires. Very scary looking. When he woke up he freaked about the endotrachial tube as he is very claustrophobic. Took some time to calm him down I felt so helpless. However, when I left him at 6 pm tonight, he was out of bed in a chair eating popsicles and jello. They keep telling me how amazing he is. They may let him out after 4 days instead of 5 or 6! Thank you everyone for your prayers and pixie dust. Miracles do still happen.

That is truly great news! :yay:

That is great news. so pleased he came through it so well. Wow, only in hospital for 4 days - amazing!!

Looking for some advice here...

We are talking about switching our RCL Baltic to the 10 night Med in May. There are pros and cons for both , right now the pro is the kids are free on the Med but it ultimately came out the same with RCL when we priced it although RCL is 12 nights compared to 10 night med.
Ive always wanted to see the Baltic capitols but yet the Med countries ive never seen before either......decisions decisions

We are not jumping ship on this one either, thats part of the worry because final is due on this one so close after we get back!

Any advice is welcome, especially from previous Med cruisers...Thanks for the help in advance :)

It is amazing now how bypass is done. We have one surgeon who has actuallu sent pts home on the 3rd day if tubes are out and they are walking. He feels they are less susceptible to infection in their own environment then a hospital Go figure LOL The graft sites are so much smaller now too, they use to go all the way down the leg, now they can do a arthroscopic 1/2 inch on the knee to harvest the veins to use in bypass. Definitly not like it used to be, even in the fifteen years ive been a nurse!

Sorry, Can't help you with your decisions, but DH & I agree that we would rather travel Med/Europe on our own (rather than on a cruise). We figure we could enjoy more of the area without feeling rushed to get back for a ship departure. We (DH, I and the 2 kids) would probably travel by train for added adventure! But that big experience wouldn't be before 2012

I know what you mean about the final payment time. I am tentatively planning a trip to the UK for next summer. An expensive trip before having to cough up $$ for this cruise! :scared1:

Just an update, my Dad came home from the hospital today, much earlier than anyone thought possible on Saturday or even Sunday. Thanks for all the well wishes...
On a side note, watching the two open heart surgeries/ bypass that I saw in nursing school were some of the coolest things I have ever seen. it's amazing to realize what it is that is being done!

Hi: We did the Disney Med Cruise in summer 2007 with our teenage son and friend. It was an awesome trip, not only because we were pampered on the Disney Cruise Ship after a long day of sightseeing, but because of the ports and locations that we visited. We have also cruised twice on the Mariner of RCL, so we're a little familiar with that cruise line too.

The main thing to consider is which itinerary do you and your family really want to see the most? That is the driving question, because really the cruise ship acts as your floating hotel accommodation and transportation taking you from one locale to another. Either the Disney Magic or RCL will do a good job on this. I found our Med Cruise to be wonderful, but exhausting, because you are in a new port just about every day, and there is so much to see while there.

Just make sure you ENJOY whichever cruise you decide to take. It's all about location. What do you want to see the most? :)

Had to rescue us from page 2!!:scared1:
Everyone must be pretty busy!!
I hope you all are having a great day!!

Here's a photo from DISer eroller on the picture of the day thread. Just a little something to remind you of the Wonder.

:confused3It can't remind me of the wonder as I have never sailed her.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

But its been interesting (and strange for me) seeing the photos and where things are different.
