I am a huge Star Trek fan. I grew on up TNG and it is my favorite series. I love the cast of characters, especially Picard. He is the best captain they've had.

I just have to chime in here...I prefer the "original" with Shatner and Nemoy, very campy and tongue in cheeky, and yes, hokey, but I love it...especially the music they use in fight scenes!

Now if you want to talk good SciFi TV, let's talk Battlestar Galactica, aka BSG (the newest one), and Babylon 5 (aka B5)...now THAT's good SciFi, because they are actually drama series in disguise!

(And if you want to talk campy and hokey, you couldn't do better than the ORIGINAL BSG...it was a bit painful to watch when I was young, but now I think it's great!)

Star trek IV ruled. That is my fave out of the orginal six.

For me...ST2-The Wrath of Kahn!

KHAN: "No... You can't get away... From hell's heart I stab at thee...For hate's sake... I spit my last breath at thee!"

Go Ricardo Montalban!

You gotta love Captain Jack Harkness :thumbsup2

Oh yes :lovestruc

Jen and her brother will fit in nicely at your television viewing party.

I'm a fan, but no where near as addicted as they are. I'd love a remote control K-9 though :)

I've visited Cardiff a few times, and there's a Dr. Who exhibition there

This is me from last year (as I walked past the exhibition)

I'll have to remember that when we next go to the UK. My list of places to visit and take the kids is sooo long (and that's without seeing family :lmao::lmao:) I think we will need to stay all summer - and win the lottery.

So what about ...

Wait for it...

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Bidi Bidi, what's up buck!

and more recently Red Dwarf (our UK friends will know what I am talking about!).

:banana:I grew up on BBC television. Saturday nights in northern NJ as a kid meant PBS and a day and a night of BBC television. It started with Benny Hill (as a 6 year old I loved it) and ended with 4 to 5 hours straight of Dr Who. I was in heaven as a kid!
Torchwood is awesome, very sad right now but interested to see what the next season will bring.
My brother (HeWhoCaves) loves Red Dwarf. I love it for one word: Smeg. Only British TV would go there.
Of course the all time best BBC show is Coupling. (Except for the last season - losing Jeff was horrible - still better than just about anything on American TV anyway).
Giggle loop anyone?

Oh, Sci-Fi! Don't know how this thread got started (didn't read back a few pages----just a little busy here at work;-) But I must chime in on LOVING Torchwood---I'll be meeting the chap who plays Ianto at the Hurricane Who convention in Orlando in 2 weeks!

My friend Meredith and I will be at Epcot for the food and wine festival from October 27th to the 30th and then go over to a mini-convention from the 30th-November 1st. This will be my 1st convention. I am sooooo excited!

I love all things Sci-Fi! I also love most British Telly! I'm going to London for a week in January---for my birthday:-) and 2 things I must do is see a Chelsea FC game (she sighs about her footie-mad husband) and a visit to the Who Shop in East Ham. I've never been to London in January----I just hope it isn't too cold.

Calling all trekkies...

There is a Star Trek exhibit making the rounds. It will be coming to San Jose in a couple of weeks at The Tech museum. So if you are in the area...

I am sure there will be loads of visitors from here (high tech and star trek seem to go hand in hand).

Live long and prosper!

I am really hoping it comes to my neck of the woods. It would be awesome to go!!

 Hi to the newbies, welcome aboard

I'm a sci-fi fan too. I really dislike the original Star Trek series and movies, but loved The Next Generation and Voyager, especially when the Borg were involved. I'm also a Star Wars fan, but my absolute favourites are Dr. Who and Torchwood (anyone get BBC America ?)

I hope everyone is having a good day :thumbsup2

TNG and VOY are my favorites, and they both have the Borg in them, which is a huge plus as the Borg are my favorite villain.

Are you serious? Really? I mean this movie is horrid. It's a train wreck that makes Star Trek III, Nemesis and Insurrection look like Oscar winners. At least you agree on the greatness of First Contact.

I know, it's terrible that i like it. I think it's becasue it's the first Original Series movie I saw, maybe it has some type of nostalgic hold on me. I didn't mind Insurrection, it's my second favorite TNG movie. I don't even count Nemesis as a Star Trek Movie. I just pretend it doesn't exist, it was horrible!!

clungstrum- We have some snow right now for you. We left FL on Sat it was very hot. Flew into Denver and was met with 25 degree weather and snow.

Good night you all.

I miss the snow. I grew up in MI and that's my husband (clungstrum) so I've been to CO a few winters as well. The one winter I'm not pregnant and didn't just have a baby and we're not going so I still can't ski. :confused3 Last time we flew into Denver, it was Christmas week and there wasn't much if any snow. I know there was no snow in Colorado Spings, luckily we went to Pagosa Springs where there was so much snow in the driveway we had to use chains to get up.

Afternoon all!

Raining here again in SoCal. Yuck -- people here do not know how to drive in the rain. oy!

We're planning an RCCL trip for May to the mexican rivera -- figured that way we can scope out the shore excursions and do one with RCCL (like snorkeling) and the other in 2011.

Anyone else realize we board the Wonder on Topsy-Turvy Day? :)

I just can't do it captain, i don't have the power!? :lmao:

It drives folks nuts at my work when I say it in a scary scottish accent.

Brilliant photos Mandy!

I gotta say Simon Pegg as Scotty was a brilliant move.
Can I have a towel? No?

Hubby has just advised thats the new film, I have not seen it.
I just like Capt Archer and Porthos and ofcourse Scotty, cause I do the accent.

I've never been to London in January----I just hope it isn't too cold.

I HAVE. Also Scotland and Wales and let me tell you it can get VERY VERY COLD in the British Isles in January! I think the wind starts blowing in New York and by the time it hits the London streets it's got up a good head of steam

Just have to chime in here as I await my flight to Orlando here in Nashville. I love Buck Rodgers. That show was the cream of the crop when it came to cheesyness and I loved it. On the topic of Star Trek V. That movie was an insult to Star Trek. I can't blame people to much because I loved Nemmsis.

I loved Nemesis too!
And ST V was an insult... then again I loved the cheeziness of the orginal BSG and the awesomeness of the new BSG

Live long and prosper!

Peace, and long life!

Another Trek fan here....NG being my favorite series.

I enjoyed the latest movie....I wonder if it's out on DVD yet...wouldn't mind seeing it again. McCoy is one of my favorite characters and having him being played by Karl Urban (:lovestruc) really floated my boat!

Yep!

Also loved Stargate (in several incarnations). Haven't checked out the new one yet. Also watched Farscape (though not from the start, but got sucked in later).
