Except, and not to be a stickler because even DCL screwed it up, the city is Puntarenas. Punta Arenas is a city in southern Chile overlooking the Straits of Magellan. Of course that might explain why the Canal isn't on our cruise plan.....

Anyone else now have the Animaniacs Magellan song going through their head? No just me? Uh....:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Ugh! Where did I get Costa Rica? Was that from DCL? I can fix it.

Thanks for pointing it out! I appreciate it

Yes, DCL put it on the itineraries as Punta Arenas. The website for DCL however has it correct.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puntarenas - Costa Rica - Where we are going

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punta_Arenas - Chile - Where, barring the installation of a massive jet propulsion system on the ship, we are not going.

But then some kudos are due to the team which did not bail on the greatest city on Earth.

I stand by Douglas Adams on this one.

"[Life] will even live in New York, though it's hard to know why. In the winter time the temperature falls well below the legal minimum, or rather it would do if anybody had the common sense to set a legal minimum. The last time anybody made a list of the top hundred character attributes of New Yorkers, common sense snuck in at number 79.

In the summer it's too darn hot. It's one thing to be the sort of life form that thrives on heat and finds, as the Frastrans do, that the temperature range between 40,000 and 40,004 is very equable, but it's quite another to be the sort of animal that has to wrap itself up in lots of other animals at one point in your planet's orbit, and then find, half an orbit later, that your skin's bubbling.

Spring is over-rated. A lot of the inhabitants of New York will honk on mightily about the pleasures of spring, but if they actually knew the first thing about the pleasures of spring they would know of at least five thousand nine hundred and eighty-three better places to spend it than New York, and that's just on the same latitude.

Fall, though, is the worst. Few things are worse than fall in New York. Some of the things that live in the lower intestines of rats would disagree, but most of the things that live in the lower intestines of rats are highly disagreeable anyway, so their opinion can and should be discounted. When it's fall in New York, the air smells as if someone's been frying goats in it, and if you are keen to breathe, the best plan is to open a window and stick your head in a building. "

The teen thread was posted by my daugher, Carly who will be 17 when we cruise. I linked it on the 2011 Wonder Cruise - Panama Canal Cruise head. It would be great to link it here too. Carly has been disappointed there hasn't been any traffic yet.

Please tell Carly that Elizabeth and me have been sick and i was out of town this weekend working. We are going to sign her up on facebook tonight later, my DGrandson will be here and I will be watching him.
I will send you a message with the info. Elizabeth wants to do facebook and texting

Ok..let's try it again...Is it correct now? I really do appreciate you pointing it out.

And here I thought we were going to be friends:confused:

Hey, I love new york. But that quote is pretty accurate as well.

And someone with an iPhone, try the site now. I had to break the locked menu and background image, but thats as small price to pay to keep my beer.

It looks like it is working now. Thanks Jeff. And thanks for adding me to the list. You are awesome.

Alison posted a reply to Carly's teen thread and is anxiously hoping other teens will join in. She doesn't have a facebook and we've been pretty adamant that she has to wait until age 16, so she'll be out for that. She also doesn't have unlimited texting, so hopefully a few kids will make this their means of communicating about the cruise!

About New York, I have always wondered why people refer to going to the restroom as going to New York.

Well, quite the broad range of topics today. It appears that I may be the lone Rockies fan (even if they lost today). I grew up in Colorado and continue to cheer for the teams and the Broncos have a pretty good record. After going to school in Tampa and now living again in Central Florida, I cheer for the Tampa teams as well so I do know a few names from the Rays.

I REALLY like this! Very nice! Where did you get the WDW logo? I was searching all over for that and finally had to settle for a pin graphic.

Somewhere in my quest for clip art :rotfl2: I have looked at so many sites I don't remember where I got it. If you want me to send you a copy of the logo..I would be happy to.

Wow, fall behind for a few days and it takes a couple of hours to catch up! I did try earlier today to look at the website on my iPhone with no luck. Now that I'm all caught up with the thread I can check out the website on my laptop.

I'm the one who volunteered to coordinate a FE gift for those from around the globe. I've got a great idea if any of our international cruisers are interested PM me.

Carly will be excited about having Alison to talk to on the thread and Elizabeth (Carly's middle name) to talk with on FB. Any other teens out there?

I love the idea of school at sea. Carly's just started homeschooling and will have to keep up with her assignments while we're gone. I'll volunteer to supervise the room one day.

Night all, time for sleep!

Hey Tenya,

Could you possibly change the font color for this to red? That way, it might get more notice. Thanks!

Good Morning, all!

Ok..let's try it again...Is it correct now? I really do appreciate you pointing it out.

THAT is Fabulous! It WOULD look great on T-shirts or doors - I am SO glad we have access to all these great designs! You are so CREATIVE!

Tinksmom (Tenya) volunteered to coordinate the joint fish gift for the international folks. PM Tinksmom for details

Has anyone started the schoolroom thread yet?
