From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

A big thank you to all of you who have uploaded pictures to SmugMug. It is so much fun to look at all the pictures and relive the fun we had on the PC cruise. I hope everyone is enjoying the pictures I have uploaded (not finished yet) as much as we are enjoying the ones all of you have put up.

Also, thank you to Carmen, who spent so much time and work to set up the photoshare in such a user friendly way. It is so nice to be able to see every day so well organized.

Ditto! And a special big THANK YOU to Carmen!

I have to make it through helping DH assemble DD's playset and having DD's 3rd birthday party this weekend, then I should be able find time to upload the rest of my photos and video.

We had a great time at WDW this past weekend, especially meeting up with the Lungstrums again. Glad we made it back for a final farewell to Toontown.

Just wanted to share this from Disney CEO Bob Iger. He took it today from a Helicopter. It is the Dream an CC. Sorry it is a iPhone screen shot.

OK, so I have been looking at the photos from the Canal Day, and for the life of me I cannot remember exactly what this is. I think it is the Continental Divide / Culebra Cut area, but not 100% sure. Anyone know for certain??

Yes, that is exactly what it is a picture of. Thanks for posting on SmugMug.

Yes, that is exactly what it is a picture of. I hope you are putting it on SmugMug (hope, hope, hope). I have a picture of each side but didn't get on like you have.

Your wish is granted!:wizard:

That one is already up there (that image is linked from the SmugMug site), and I will be adding the others I took of the same area. Just didn't want to spend time uploading them only to have to move them to a different folder.

Thanks Alan! That sounds right, my mind just blanked out when I was going through our pics.

You're welcome! Hope everyone is enjoying the site and can easily find the photos they need. We are approaching 3000 at this point and many haven't even started uploading. I know I still have a bunch :) I can't imagine trying to find a photo and having to sift through all those photos only to find there were none or to find some and not be for certain if they're even from the day/activity I was looking for.

I have received a few PMs requesting additional categories or with questions, which have all been addressed. However, I will be out of town for a few days and may not get to any new PMs till Sunday so please be patient. If I can sneak in a bit of time for the dis I will :goodvibes

I remember doing that for my DD's 3rd birthday, almost 9 years ago :( . We've since assembled another due to not wanting to move the 1st one and they can take longer than a day to get together. Good luck to you two.

. . . We are heading to WDW on 10/25 and on the Magic 10/29 for a Western. While I get a good amount of vacation time, I don't get enough for much more along with the visits to my folks and a family wedding this fall. But, I will have one or two cruises booked before I get off the Magic, just to play with.

Darn we'll miss you by a week - doing the western 11/12

LOVE that photo of the Centennial Bridge - thanks for posting it! I promise I will start uploading to smug mug soon. (still stalling )
Thanks, Carmie, for all your hard work!

I realized right after I posted that the photo was up on SmugMug. Thanks again. In going through our photos, I found that I have pictures of both sides of the bridge and continental divide, but didn't go up to Deck 10 to get a picture from back or front of ship.

I still have Panama Canal day to get uploaded, so will also be adding some of Centenial Bridge and continental divide.

hmmm...definitely seem like repo dates to me. Hoping for some great itinerary announcements in April!

I love Hawaii and cruising too, but for the $$ I would much rather fly and spend my time on the islands instead of the ship.

I have to agree also.

Love the SmugMug!! Thanks Carmen! Still stalling like Linda - will tackle the photo project just as soon as my kids find someone else to bother 24/7:3dglasses

There is an interesting article on AOL about getting sick while on a cruise. There is also a video about repositioning cruises. Most of this info we all know but it was interesting.

Here is a part of the article and link to the entire thing.

"The Captain's Word Is King
"Until Congress gives passengers a bill of rights, you basically don't have rights."The first thing cruise ship travelers need to understand is that the laws of their home state don't necessarily apply. "Until Congress gives passengers a bill of rights, you basically don't have rights," Anolik told AOL Travel. "Once you board the ship you are under the captain's command." This means that if you get sick with any infectious disease (for example, norovirus, a group of viruses that effect the stomach and intestines are associated with cruise ships due in part to the close living quarters) the captain can sequester you in protection of the other passengers.

A Visit to Ship's Doctor Can Have Consequences
If you're feeling ill, your first thought might be to go get checked out by the ship's doctor, but Anolik says there are several things you need to keep in mind. "Ship doctors are independent and not employees of the ship. In many cases, they have a lesser degree of training than what you might be used to." So it is possible that a ship doctor can make a misdiagnoses and keep you in your cabin for what turns out to be nothing more than a cold. Still, Anolik doesn't advise avoiding medical care if you're truly under the weather. "Your health is more important than your enjoyment," he points out."

You're welcome! Yes, I'm stalling a bit too. Did get a lot of wildlife/countryside pics added to Costa Rica but that's about it so far, other than the test photos I uploaded. I also tried uploading a great video of a guy feeding crocodiles out on the Tarcoles River but I can't get it to go through. As anyone else tried uploading videos?

Off to the airport in about an hour. Hoping internet charges at the hotel aren't ridiculously high so I can work on uploading from the room. If it is, I'll be waiting a few more days popcorn::

The numbers on last year's TA were as identical to the PC as they could be!! 1800 total with 300 children(all the ages)

Funny as it sounds, it felt like there were a few more 5 - 12 year olds on the PC. On the TA there seemed to be more preschoolers instead. I don't know if the time of year had anything to do with it with schools just having started a new school year and being a bad time to take children out of school.

I would suggest that the PC cruise could be deemed more educational than a TA.

I have to say - I had a huge asthma attack on the Magic a few years back and had to go to the ships doc. In ONE HOUR - I had a nurse visit, blood gas, blood pressure, doc visit, iv meds, inhalation treatment, prescription filled, bill and out the door. The doc told me stuff about asthma my own doc hadn't told me - and what they did in one HOUR would have taken 3 stops and half a day back home!

Val---just love how you are displaying the cruise pins. I have all my ariels on a bulletin board that Shirley will attest to. Now you have given me some new ideas on how to display those special pins. My craft/office rooms needs attention.

We are unpacked but nothing is in it's right place; perhaps a case of denial.

DES--found you on FB; glad you got together with Shirley. We head to Dland second week in March. :)

Alan---thanks for posting that cool picture of the dream at CC.

Charlotte--SO SO glad you got those pics recovered:thumbsup2

Cheers

We have just arrived home!!! Are we the final ones to do so? We have had an amazing vacation. The cruise, DL, San Diego, and finally almost 3 weeks in a pool home. Wonderful. Now I am ready to do it all again after I have unpacked of course.:lmao:
