All caught up for the moment. Scored some amazing shoes at Payless for formal night and I think I can make them work for 2 0f my 3 formals/semi. Last time, I only took 1 pair of high heels and made them work for all things fancy. Scored 2 amazing dresses at TJ Maxx for under $75 and that was including taxes. We are at 10.25% out here. So I'm happy with that. Oh and DH bought me the most gorgeous dress for Christmas.....he just doesn't know about it yet.

Anyone else get anything good during Black Friday? I didn't go out in the madness other than to drop off my DD and pick her up but when I picked her up at 1 pm, some great buys jumped into my bags. Gotta love sales.

We have snow!! Proper snow!!! Apparently it is the earliest snow for 17 years!! Don't you just love these kinds of records? Last year we had the worst winter for donkey's years etc. Why do we never break the hottest day record, or longest hot spell record?

So do we, I had spinning booked at t5he gym so HAD to take the car out, now its stuck half way up the drive,so now I am away to dig/grit the dam drive, roll on summer!

We have luggage labels. I would email DU in the first instance, but apparently it doesn't actually matter if you don't have them, I think they give you some at the port or something. However, I would want them.

glad you got a nice dress. we have sales like you describe on boxing day, but one things for sure, wild horses wouldnt drag me to them!

In my youth we use to do the day after Thanksgiving Day Sales - thought it was fun to wait outside in the cold and the dark for the doors to open. There are some advantages to getting older and maybe smarter. I can't believe I am saying this but "in my days" people did push and try to take stuff out of your hands but you didn't hear about people being taken to the hospital because the crowds pushed them down and then stepped on them to get in the doors. This is just a shame on us and how we are teaching our kids what is appropriate and important. My editorial for the day. Val

I just received a PM that I left off the name of a member who generously offered her cabin on the room tour, I have updated the posting. So I thought I should mention that on Friday's I have been posting an "update" for the events I am trying to keep straight. I post the updates for two reasons 1) so the new folks can decide if they want to join the fun and 2) so you all can check if I have screwed up and need to correct anything. I really really don't want to leave anyone out, especially if I PM'd you I would be adding you to the spreadsheet and then you don't see your name on the update. So, I ask that you forgive me it I messed thing up. Be assured I have not sent any names or cabin numbers to DCL nor the Costa Rica and Aruba tours yet. I will let you all know before I do that. So, please look over the updates on page 181 and let me know of any corrects I need to make. Thanks for your help. Val

I think they posted a plan where by the last people would inform the room hosts who then closed the room and became the new "last people" . It certainly behooves those attending to show up in a timely manner out of consideration for the hosts!

for those travelling, especially from afar who may not hve computer or printer access, will there be a last minute printout on the day of the tour or what will be the way we know. my room is on the tour, but i want to start on the tour and open my room when i get there only and close.. oh my, what do we do about stragglers? really want to see all the rooms, including one on my floor. how does that work again? are those whos rooms are being shown allowed to start first? and will everyone stay open so those whos rooms are being shown can get up there? or is someone "herding" a bit so there are less stragglers? not to be mean about moving people through, but want to savor it all!! thanks

I am not working on the Personal Navagator for this cruise so I don't know when/if it will be printed or ready to be printed.

I can print out the room tour list and have copies of them in my FE, room 6572, for those who need a copy. If someone is keeping a whiteboard of events on their door, maybe they will post the info - can't speak for them.

On the WBTA, we had our room open on the tour but I didn't organize the tour, Lynne, AKA Orlandothebeagle did. She has been very helpful by giving me advise on how to organize this event. Bob and I switched off so we could each see the cabins we really wanted to see. Bottomline, it is a challenge to have your room open and see the other rooms - but it can be done - sort of. First, I suggest that we start the tour on deck one, with the people whose cabins are on the tour getting there a few minutes before the tour and running ahead as their deck is next. The tour can end on deck 8, where the suites are, rooms everyone wants to view. (special thanks to the 3mmm and Tigfanjeff families for opening their R & S suites) When more then one person offered a cabin in the same category I didn't decline because I felt this would give people an opportunity to see one of them at least.

While this is the first time I have organizing a room tour, I have a lot of experience organizing events (missed a board meeting once and ending up the chairperson organizing theme parties for 250 people for 5 years) so if I learnt one thing it is that herding cats is easier then herding people - and sometimes they are better tempered. I'll try to direct the people flow so that those on the tour are first but you know some people don't take to being directed very well. So we'll all just go with the flow and have a good time - Right? You know it. Val

Another quiet day in Kansas before Carly and I head home to Texas tomorrow. We're watching Suite Life on Deck and I keep saying, "two weeks on the ship, two weeks on the ship." I'm so excited I can't stand myself.

Thanks to whomever (Jen, I think) the ship's agenda. Carly and I went to ebay and found really cute Mexican shirts for us for $25 and and a cigar shirt for Joe for only $17. Our clothes are coming together nicely!

Well..out and about this morning helping my sister go shopping..I have been finished CHristmas shopping but I tag along with her. Glad I went last night - I found some carpis in the clearance section. Unfortunately, I am stuck at a 25 pound weight loss and as much as I hoped to lose more before the cruise - I was getting nervous about finding some clothes.

Hope everyone has an awesome day! Our Christmas lights went up yesterday - the tree will have to wait until next weekend after our rescue's adoption event. We are hoping out foster pups find a new home in time for the holidays!

The news just reported the arrest of a young man in Oregon who thought he was blowing up a tree lighting ceremony in Oregon. Luckly for us, some intrusive organization in our government was able to stop it and save lives. So, while I find the the TSA business at the airport annoying and wish for the pre 9-11 times, I'll put up with them, the nice ones and the creeps, to at least feel a little safer - whether I am or not.

Flying south toward WDW currently. Happy to report that even though our airport does not have full body scanners in place yet I did not see any pat downs occur. It was business as usual at our airport.

I just found out our room 6044 is a connecting room. We have never stayed in one before. Any one have any info on them? I tried to change it but at this point there were no other cabins in our 5c available. I was told my docs were mailed out so I should get them today or Monday.

We hope to leave for FL on Tuesday or Wednesday. It is a good thing we are taking the camper with us. My husband says I am taking everything but the kitchen sink. But it is hard to decided what to take.A lot depends on what the weather will be in FL for the months we are there, plus cruise wear. Men have it easy- put on a shirt and pants and they are set to go. Plus I have two boxes with my fish extender gifts. It is a good thing we are not flying.

No, we do fly twice daily to LAX though. Closest airport to Orlando would be JFK.

My heart is broken today. My sweet little Bichon Frise, Murphy, passed last night. We had him for 15 years.

Ours arrived yesterday, too.

Well, what a difference a few days make. The move is off.

In the run up to the Transatlantic cruise, I made friends with some people who were on the cruise and live in Dubai. I had emailed them before I went to Dubai in the hope to meet up with them. They happened to be on holiday, but emailed me on Wednesday. They raised a few issues that put me on high alert and prompted me to ask further questions. I also did some research online and I did not like what I found out through either.

This should have been a fairly straightforward transfer and I should have kept my seniority and all the length of service related benefits. By asking a few questions, I found out that they see this as a completely new employment and I would lose all the benefits that I have worked so hard for including my profit share. This was totally unacceptable to me.

I also found out that it is normal practice that you are shown your accommodation during the interview process. This did not happen. I was just given the name of the area where I would be housed. When I googled this, I found out that this is essentially an industrial estate and that most of the residential aspect of this are labour camps. They had kept rather quite about this as well.

Needless to say, I turned down their "generous" offer yesterday and I am staying put where I am.
