Des, the photos are fantastic! You all look wonderful. Thank you for sharing them with us!

We've got costumes around here somewhere from the last cruise. I've been searching for them high and low but can't seem to remember where I stored them. So the answer is we may or may not dress up this time.

On the EBPC 2 years ago, Golden Mickeys was the theme for the first formal night, on day 2. East Meets West was the day of the PC crossing. And Prince/Princess theme was the last formal night.

oh wow!!

Hi and welcome.

It is just one of the formal nights. The menu was named that too, but I can't remember what it was like. Quite a few of the menus we didn't like to be honest, but it didn't stop us loving the food!!!:lmao:

Well on the TA we just did, some ladies did wear tiaras and perhaps dressed a little more princess like(and looked lovely), but for most it was just normal formal gear.

Marilyn, what's the east meets west about?? are these just what they call the type of food or do they dosoemthing?

If you are referring to the Princess night that was on Robin's list...on the 2nd formal night - all of the ladies wore tiaras and some wore gloves.

We all posed for a picture in the atrium. I will see I can find mine.

oops! In reading back..I see it was a theme night listed... I just know what we did in 2008.

Des, did disney give out tiaras or did that many bring them? How'd you get such a neat set of pictures taken??

So looking forward to meeting everyone! There are so many activities planned. It's goig to be tough cause the ship has so many i want to do!!

Oh also, is there a way to find out what our dining rotation is? Now that i knw DD may be able to join us, I'm needing to know to tellher! thanks!

I'm think the East meets West was the menu on the day of the Panama Canal crossing. They gave us those menu's, but I have just thrown them out. :rolleyes1 I'm thinking a mix of dishes from Caribbean to Mexican.

Not sure apart from that if there was anything special about it at dinner time, though there were things going on for the crossing. There were coffee and pastries early morning up on the sports deck, a barbecue at lunch time and an ex PC pilot commentating throughout the crossing, which was excellent. Everything was shown on the big screen and on the in room TV's so you didn't miss much around and about.

We did have a Tropical Night when we were in the Caribbean and people wore tropical wear such as Hawaiian shirts for the men and anything tropical themed for the ladies. There were some very pretty dresses and mumu's(sp?) worn.

There was Mexican Night over in the Pacific where people wore everything from traditional Mexican wear to the ridiculous and funny party type gear. Many men bought the Mexican wedding shirts(John did) and the easiest thing for the ladies was embroidered blouses etc. Some actually bought something in a Mexican port. There was a Mexican Show that night. I also think they had a Mexican Deck party at some point.

Pirates was in the Pacific, but that could change of course. I think they called it Pirates NOT in the Caribbean!!

You don't find out your dining rotations until you get to your room these days. It used to be noted in initials on your key card, but not this last time anyway. Dining times have been 6pm and 8.30pm recently too.

ON the TA and MEd cruise we had to leave our pirate hats. We got on at Port Canaveral so we just carried them in a bag but when we flew home from Barcelona we had so much extra stuff that we could not pack our pirate stuff. We gave them to the room stewart and he said he would give them to someone on the next cruise. This time I bought some stuff at the DOllar Store so if I have to leave them it won;t be too bad.

Like the idea of the mixology - not sure if it is for the men to get together while the chamgagne girls have their get together- I think it started out that way but now I am not sure just what it is. Will there be any non-alcoholic fancy drinks?

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Tiaras - I bought my tiara at Tiaradiva.com. There is also an on line store called Tiaratown.com. Apparently in some parts of the country tiaras are BIG. Dimples bought hers at the Build-a-Bear store. I have also seen them at Party Warehouse.

Chilly here this morning - 34 F at 9 am. I've been to the gym and pool. Picked up the dress I had shortened. MAiled at the post office. Voted. had breakfast. I'm off to a good start - now. GET OFF the computer, Linda, and follow through. HA.

On the Magic, they did Prince and Princess night on the night they showed Twice Charmed, but with this cruise I am not sure which show it would correspond with. The servers wore powder blue jackets and a white sash. Disney did not give out tiaras, but people were not really dressed any special way except for typical formal attire. There is a certain menu, and I remember liking it, but I don't remember what I had. HTH!

I was really pulling for the Rangers as they beat the Rays, and I always want the team that beats "my" team to win. But, the Giants played great. Congrats to all those who were rooting for them.

Sherri, I am booked with DU, and asked my TA to set our dining rotation. We have a preference as to when we eat in each restaurant. She made the request, but it cannot be secured until we are on the ship. Disney is good about getting requests done if possible, so I am sure it will come through. If you have a TA, you can ask them to set it up for you. If not, you can contact DCL directly. Good luck!

Well, I am off to vote. I hope everyone in the US gets a chance to today. :flower3:

Good morning all! Just wanted to share my experience with Vista Print, I received my tshirts yesterday. I ordered 2, one for each of us, and one is great while the other's front logo was crooked! I was disappointed but I just got off the phone with Vista customer service and it was a very easy phone call to explain what the problem was, and they are sending me a replacement free of charge--it even shows up already in my 'order status' on the website. They also said I dont even have to send the other one back, which I thought was super convenient and I guess that means i can have a backup tshirt that I can wear to the gym or something! So all in all, I was bummed at first seeing the crooked logo but the customer service was great so I cant complain. The clarity of my images were great too--I will try to post pictures tonight or tomorrow to share.

Linda- thanks for sharing the website for the tiaras, I was wondering where to go about finding one! I'm so excited for the princess night- any ideas on where to get some white gloves?

Does anyone have any idea how to pack a pirate hat to survive 2 flights? We did the Mexican Riviera when DCL was here last so we only had to drive. I just sort of tied the hats onto the suitcases or wore them. I really don't want to wear them through our connection in Seattle or on either of the two flights.:confused3

Bob is the best packer - once I get him to do it. He stuffs socks and underwear in and around ours and puts a ring of cardboard around it and then puts it in a plastic bag. Val

I just checked the website and it is showing NO verandah rooms available now. I think whoever suggested GTY assignments are coming soon is right :cool1:.

It originally was suggested as an activity the guys would do as we CG but the only interest seemed to be an event everyone could join in. I asked DCL about a non-alcoholic offering and was told they could do that but it didn't sound like it was going to be any cheaper. She did say she thought they would allow observers who didn't eat or drink but where there and there would be no cost. I'll ask again when I give her the final counts on Friday. Then we'll have to wait and see what/if they offer.

If you use the ship to call in OR out it's about $8 a minute (or was december a year ago when i checked). With cells, if you have a phone from Tmobile or i think sprint, it may be internationally enabled and you just have to ask them to turn it on temporarily. It would still be expensive, but no where near that price! I know verizon and most others do not have that capability. you could buy a paygo phone from sprint or tmobile and save a lot of money. This info comes from 2 places - number 1: my DD2 worked for Sprint last year and works for a different cell company now and 2: as i'd mentioned, i work for the Defense Dept and we send people all over the world for trips from 1 week to 5 months. We send them with cell phones. and 3 i called tmobile and sprint (had one now have the other), so really 3 places. but the 8 aminute comes from disney. just so you know and can look into it. i've not actually asked them about the paygo phones, but now that you mention it, i'm going to. i'll let you know what they say. and i'm goinjg to ask sprint what it costs to enable international for month.

I have AT&T and called before I left so I knew how much it would be per minute. $2.49 per minute from the ship or even on shore close to the ship. This is the agreement they have with Disney. So walk away from the ship before making that phone call, don't just walk off the gang plank and think it will be cheaper. I have an International Plan and had gotten the rates from each port so tried to call from there. However, we had six At Sea days in a row and I missed my DH.....so, I am now paying for it, literally. I see where there are about $80 in obvious dropped calls that I will be calling on but that doesn't help much. I should have put a timer on!

I saw a few people with Sat phones. It might have been cheaper to rent one.

Only 65 days until we set sail !!!!!:banana::banana: For the TA we got cabin assignments at 55 days out. It's getting close !!!

Virgin America just sent me an e-mail announcing a great sale on seats from LAX.
Samples of fares; LAX (LA) to MCO (orlando) on 1-22-11 $129, on 1-25-11 $99. They also allow 70 pounds in the first suitcase and $50 on the others, cost is $25 per bag. We love Virgin - wish I hadn't already booked.

Some have mentioned wearing special dresses for villains night. Is this something that people decide on their own or is more like a pirate dress up night?

After Halloween is the best time to shop if I need to get "parts" so I can play too! Long black gloves? What else??

I have never gotten over playing dress up!!! :cutie:

On our recent TA quite a lot of the Dis group dressed up, some very themed, others just just with something purple. Some ladies bought special purple evening dresses etc. I just had a purple top and jewellery. I guess some wouldn't even have noticed my effort!!!:lmao:

There was a very nice Queen of Hearts outfit and a Cruella de Ville get up or two. I wasn't out and about much, but saw some photos of folk. Quite fun really.

There was an activity during the day sometime for making masquerade masks, and there was a Masquerade Ball in the atrium I believe after dinner. We always finished dinner too late and i was too tired. Bu, I wish I had gone along to view.

I have a cute purple print dress, nothing fancy but nice so I guess I can wear that. Doesn't look villain like but I guess it will do :goodvibes

I'm sure that will look perfect. We will know you are dressed for villains anyway!! I will probably wear what I did before anyway.

I agree they are really messing with us now. Yesterday no cat. 7 and today they're back and all the cat. 4-6 are gone.:confused3

Yikes on that phone bill. I have an Iphone with international calling on it. We go to Croatia every other year. I made 2 calls last time to the US and about 10 min a piece and it was only $25 more than my normal bill. My husband will be in Croatia while we are on the cruise so it may be difficult.

:eek::scared1::eek::scared1:That is ridiculous.

Can anyone tell me what the snorkeling in Aruba is like or Manzanillo? We have snorkled in the Virgin Islands, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica and none of them held a candle to Hawaii. I am trying to decide whether or not to snorkle. I do not want to be totally disappointed. slightly disappointed is fine.

I love all the pictures. The kids look great in their Hween costumes!

Oh...this feels so wrong...can any one give me an idea on the logistics of going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter from WDW? DD wants to go and I am told there is only half a day of stuff to do there. Is is far from WDW. Could we cab it for a half day?
