Does anyone have any idea how to pack a pirate hat to survive 2 flights? We did the Mexican Riviera when DCL was here last so we only had to drive. I just sort of tied the hats onto the suitcases or wore them. I really don't want to wear them through our connection in Seattle or on either of the two flights.:confused3

Looks like the Giants are going to close it out tonight. Congrats to the Giants and their fans :goodvibes

ETA: I'm still a proud Rangers fan. They did a great job this year and look forward to next year!!! Love my Rangers :)

The Rangers gave it their all and deserve to be proud of the season they had. val

My roommate had a fancy pirates hat on the WBTA and she packed it in her suitcase with lots of tissue paper around it. Took up a lot of space but it made it just fine.

My husband and I have just booked this cruise.:cool1: Is it too late to join the FE list. We are very excited to meeting everyone. We currently have a gty room.

HI, Where're you from? Nice for you to join us!
I'm specifically looking for a friend of Buzz Lightyears, but it's nice to meet you even if that's not hyou!

I wish I knew an easier way--my hat has an underwire throughout it so it reallly cant be bent, so the only thing I could do was wear it...yes I looked quite silly through the airport and onto the plane but hey I was going on vacation so being silly just goes with the fun :cool1:

In addition, i have this:
Formal Nights are nights 3, 14
Semi Formal Night is night 10
Pirate Night is night 11

of course i have no idea, seriously, what some of those other nights are. what do you do on east meets west or prince/princess days? and the others?

I am also curious about those 2 theme nights, especially the prince/princess one- sounds like fun, anyone know what its about?

The Halloween chain Spirits has all their costumes and other Halloween items on sale for 50% off. I got a new pink boa for our Champagne Girls Gala. Also got a great pirates hat. Some Disney costumes where available. Val

Thanks for the info. There's a Spirits here in Alameda so I'll check it out tomorrow.

Thanks val!

I think it's the menu for formal night. Since we have 2, I guess it will be one of those nights. So, we will be dressed like princesses and princes. I was trying on my dresses a couple of weeks ago and I put on my long evening gown. When I opened the bathroom door, DS said "Ooh, you look like a princess!"

Just a bit of info as I'm still in shock. I got my phone bill today that covered the WBTA. My onboard phone calls to my DH came to 1035.00 US dollars! Yikes! And the reception was not all that good. Sometimes I had to call him three times in a row to finish our conversation as the calls kept dropping. DH was prepared for it but I wasn't. He asked me when I was going to start listening to him, yeah right, after 35 years of marriage what does he think? hahaha

On this cruise he will be along so no outgoing phone calls for us!

Ouch! Thanks for the reminder to leave my phone off!

:scared1: OUr phones will definitely be off. I may turn one of ours on shortly in port to check in with my dad (will have our dogs) but I will make sure they are off before we even get back on the ship.

If you are referring to the Princess night that was on Robin's list...on the 2nd formal night - all of the ladies wore tiaras and some wore gloves.

We all posed for a picture in the atrium. I will see I can find mine.

oops! In reading back..I see it was a theme night listed... I just know what we did in 2008.

here was our Princess picture:

Des - what fabulous photos ! Great to get a feel for what it's going to be like :)

As for phone bills - I guess the "advantage" for having worked for a telco for a few years is that I'm fully aware of the cost of overseas phone calls. I'd keel over backwards if we got stung with a bill for that much :scared1:

Time to pick up my munchkins from school. *sneeze*

Cheers,
Sally :)

LOVE the pictures of the princess night!! Thanks so much for sharing, I am so getting the white gloves and a tiara now! I never got to dress up as a princess as a little girl- I was quite the tomboy- but I did a total 180 at some point later in my life and now I'm obsessed with the whimsical fairytales and anything Disney, especially the princess stories- I want my wedding dress to look like Cinderella : ) So this will be so awesome to have the chance to wear the tiara and gloves! I was also thinking about getting an up-do in the salon- has anyone gotten one on board before and if so, do you know how much it cost?

Prince and Princess night!! I hope someone makes up a final schedule!

hmm...another dress....

LOVE THOSE PICS!! can we do that too!!?

And I like the idea that the categories are full so we can get our upgrades! I mean our stateroom numbers. ;)

How many adults are planning to "dress" for pirate night?
We've got costumes around here somewhere from the last cruise. I've been searching for them high and low but can't seem to remember where I stored them. So the answer is we may or may not dress up this time.

I'm not sure if I can pull this off the top of my head, so anyone who reads this, please correct my errors...
Let the Magic Begin (aka Celebrate Mom's Bday:thumbsup2) Day 1
Pirate Night Day 11
Golden Mickey Day 2
Prince and Princess Day 14
East meets West Day 7
Till we meet again Day 15
That's all I can remember...

On the EBPC 2 years ago, Golden Mickeys was the theme for the first formal night, on day 2. East Meets West was the day of the PC crossing. And Prince/Princess theme was the last formal night.

Good Afternoon everyone :)

I have a day off work (paid) today ! With thanks to the Melbourne Cup (think Kentucky Derby for Australians), our company allows those who are on wages to have a Picnic Day (I've been on salary for the past two picnic days). So, what am I doing ? Sitting at home nursing the start of a cold :( Trying to catch up on other bits and bobs, too.

Don't know what's happened to our Summer... it's been unseasonably cold this year - I woke up to 52F, which meant dragging all the kids jumpers and blazers back out for school.

A couple of quick replies...

Disneynut - welcome ! This is a fabulous group of people - I can't wait until our cruise (we're doing two weeks of Disney beforehand, too).

Val - sign us up for the Hawaiian t-shirt comp. ! Poor DH, I don't quite think he knows *what* he's letting himself in for giving me complete control of all the planning :rotfl2:

Lynne - thanks for the feedback on who to contact for the dining seating. I'll contact my DU agent.

As an aside - has anyone else booked this cruise with DU ? If so, would you mind PMing me with the name of your agent, if you're happy with them ? Thanks :)

Jen - many congratulations on finishing your paper ! Every time I think it'd be good to go back and do something post-grad, I seem to remember just how much work is involved with uni ! Jack looks gorgeous in his pirate costume !

Pirate Night - I'm sorry, I've forgotten who asked about it, but we I plan on getting dressed, do a degree. I have already had custome shirts printed for the whole family, and we'll take patches and head gear. That will probably do, although I'm not sure Dh and DD1 will be quite so "into it" :confused3

Limo / Bus to port - has anyone used another company aside from Happy Limo to go from WDW to port ? Could you let me know the name, and if you were happy with them ? Also, what time did they do pick-up for you ? TIA !

That's it for now - I've waffled on long enough :hippie:

More ironing, more cleaning...... picnic day ! What picnic day ? LOL !

Cheers,
Sally :)
Sounds like a fab day, have fun.

Hi and welcome.

It is just one of the formal nights. The menu was named that too, but I can't remember what it was like. Quite a few of the menus we didn't like to be honest, but it didn't stop us loving the food!!!:lmao:

Well on the TA we just did, some ladies did wear tiaras and perhaps dressed a little more princess like(and looked lovely), but for most it was just normal formal gear.

If you use the ship to call in OR out it's about $8 a minute (or was december a year ago when i checked). With cells, if you have a phone from Tmobile or i think sprint, it may be internationally enabled and you just have to ask them to turn it on temporarily. It would still be expensive, but no where near that price! I know verizon and most others do not have that capability. you could buy a paygo phone from sprint or tmobile and save a lot of money. This info comes from 2 places - number 1: my DD2 worked for Sprint last year and works for a different cell company now and 2: as i'd mentioned, i work for the Defense Dept and we send people all over the world for trips from 1 week to 5 months. We send them with cell phones. and 3 i called tmobile and sprint (had one now have the other), so really 3 places. but the 8 aminute comes from disney. just so you know and can look into it. i've not actually asked them about the paygo phones, but now that you mention it, i'm going to. i'll let you know what they say. and i'm goinjg to ask sprint what it costs to enable international for month.
