I don't remember who was wanting military rate info, but here's some for discounts on tickets & rooms at the Disneyland Resort Hotels.

[Update from Mouseplanet] Disney has issued a press release about this offer with a few more details. Active and retired U.S. military personnel may purchase up to six tickets, but one of the six (6) Tickets purchased must be for use by the eligible service member or his/her spouse. Disneyland is also extending a 40% discount on rooms at the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, subject to availability and other restrictions. Ths offer is valid for stays most nights now through Oct. 1, 2011, with blockout days or Nov. 24-Nov. 26, 2010, and Dec. 26-Dec. 31, 2010. Valid military ID is required at check in. Thank you very much. We won't be taking advantage of it this time but will in the future. Val

Thanks for posting this list. There are a lot of great ideas here.
I wonder if the guys feel left out because they aren't apart of the Champagne Girls fun? Is there any interest in an activity for them? How about the Hawaiian shirt contest? val

When we did the original Champagne Girls(yes I was an ORIGINAL;)) some guys met for a Lost Beer Boys get together. Problem is I don't think men are quite as keen to get together for things as us ladies. At least not until they have made connections before.

As far as cost went, some ladies only really want to sip a little Champagne. We had a slightly lower rate for those ladies, though of course that is difficult to police. I think then it was $10 for guzzlers and $5 for sippers! Costs have risen me thinks. But, I do think having the sommelier is worth it. We did get chocolate drops() to try at times with some of the Champagne to see how it tasted different.

Sorry I didnt know anyone by that name...but lol I wasnt much of a social person out there since I was taking 18 credits a semester and swamped with classes and studies all the time. Did he go to USD, SDSU, or UCSD? I went to USD but I lived in La Jolla closer to UCSD.

He went to UCSD, I knew it would be a long shot. :goodvibes

UPDATE TO THE CHAMPAGNE GIRLS UPDATE – Calling all Champagne Girls and Wanna-bes (all are welcome)
I have received a response to my FAX to the DCL Function Request Department regarding our Champagne Girls Celebration. She replied that our reputation precedes us and that she has scheduled Champagne Girls events before. She further stated she would be scheduling her January requests sometime in November and would advise us as to what DCL can provide at that time. However, in order to assist us she will need an estimate of how many of us would be in attendance. When I inquired as to an estimated cost, she indicated it would be somewhere between $15 and $20 each. Non-alcoholic beverages could also be provided.

Please send me a pm, even if you have notified me already, if you would like to be included in the count. Please note I will be giving her a count of the estimated number for planning purposes, not your individual information. I would like to hear from you by next Friday, 11-5, at the latest. Thank you.
Val

I am glad we are going with the more formal option. I sent you a PM! :thumbsup2

No, we didn't print any of the photos for the scavenger hunt. Instead, the judges just looked at all of them on the digital camera screen. I'm trying to remember all the particulars of the game. I know that teams were sent out at staggered times and had a set amount of time to take as many pics on the list as possible. When time was up we went back to the judges and let them scan through the pics on our camera to determine how many points each team earned.

I found the "Pocket Pirate" someone put together for that cruise. (A 1 pager of all the planned activities.) Besides coordinated excursions in each port, here's some of the other things we did as a group.
  • Ice Cream Social at Goofy's Galley every day, including port days
  • Happy Hour at Signals every day, including port days
  • Meet & Greet on Deck 10 before the safety drill
  • Meet on Deck 10 during sail away party
  • Kids Meet & Greet/Post Card exchange
  • Room Tour
  • Scout Patch Swap & Badge Work, for any boy/girl scouts in group
  • Wenches (Ladies) Lunch in Parrot Cay
  • Kiva and Kiva Friends Meet
  • Pirate (Men) Brunch in Palo
  • Wenches (Ladies) Tea in Palo
  • Verandah Open House during day of PC crossing
  • Hawaiian Shirt Contest
  • Scrapbooking Swap
  • Pirate Procession before dinner on Pirate Night
  • Grown Up Princess Night & group photo (with tiaras and all)
  • Mickey Bar Soeed Eating Challenge
  • PJ Breakfast in Lumiere's
  • Group photo by the Flying Dutchman on Castaway Cay
  • Rugby on Castaway Cay
  • Travel Scale Share (for those needing to make sure luggage is within weight limits)

I really like this list, there are a lot of things to go on.

I like that idea, but will they? Maybe a mixology session. They did one for us on the TA that was very popular, covered all different types of liquor. Maybe calling it a tropical shirt contest would be more appropriate seeing where we are cruising. Why don't we ask our guys and report back what they think. Also, I know some of our group are males. Maybe they could weigh in. val
I think it is a good idea to have the guys get together while we do the Champagne girls. DH would be interested in the mixology, or any general tasting would be fine.

On the TA cruise in September we were suppose to have our luggage out by 10:00. My DH has restless legs syndrome so we were walking the halls at 2:00.m. and people were still putting out their luggage and they were being picked up. One couple with 2 kids had 16 bags (plus each had 2 carryons she told me). She was still getting them ready and putting them out. Mom was right, some people will be late for their own funeral.

val

I suppose this is my German nature. I might put out the luggage a little early, but I would never consider putting it out later than it is supposed to go out.

I think the reason why they brought this forward was that people complained about the noise and they work on the premises that most people don't go to bed before 10:00.

Guess what...

I can't believe how this is creeping up on us. There is so much in between as well. I will celebrate my birthday, having various Christmas meals and our work Christmas Ball. Then Christmas and new year itself. Before I will know it January 5th will be here and I will be on my way to Florida.

On the last PC cruise we had a photo scavenger hunt on one of the sea days. I wish I'd kept a copy of the list because it was so well done. Each photo was worth a certain number of points, depending on how easy/difficult it would be to find. And to ensure the photo was actually taken during the game and not at some random time prior, someone from the team had to be in the photo with whatever it was you were looking for. DH and I had a great time. Even DS (then just 3 1/2) joined us toward the end and had lots of fun.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

Thanks for keep us updated. This sounds promising.

Well, I finally seem to get into planning mode. I have ordered most of my supplies for my Fish Extender gifts. Once they get here, I get get busy making them. I also ordered the business cards to add to the Fish Extender gifts.

Secret Mickey is under control. I found so much stuff which I think my Secret Mickey will love and it is great fun always looking out for something more.

I also ordered my t shirt. I went down the Vistaprint route. I ordered the business cards from them and just added the t shirt on.

I ordered a new semi-formal dress, which has been custom-made in China. I got another dress from the same seller and love it. Normally it takes about a month for the dresses to be made, but I ordered this one on October 19th and got an email yesterday to say it has shipped. Normally it takes about a week to get here so hopefully I will have it by this time next week. I can't wait to see it. We will have a Christmas Ball on December 10th and I will wear it for that as well as for semi-formal night on our cruise.

I just wanted to throw something out there. I might live to regret this, but here it goes anyway. I did a number of jewellery making workshops on the Transatlantic Cruise and they were a huge success. If there is interest here, I would be happy to offer this on our cruise as well. I would modify what we are doing for this cruise so that people who did it on the Transatlantic could do it again.

I would love to do another one Corinna. I would also bring my last one to finish off. I did mean to borrow some tools from you later in the cruise, but you know what it was like, I just got lazier and forgot!!! I only have a couple of beads to put on and the clasp though.

Love to do it! Make a plan and PM me so I can put it on the first page.

I would be interested in a scrapbooking swap if anyone else is. I could help organize unless someone else wants to.

Also, thought I'd share. On our last cruise we did a "Sunrise Club" and met up on deck 9 I can't remember if it was at 6am or 6:30. Coffee, tea, coke, and lots of laughing..maybe some people would be interested?

Count me in for SURE on the sunrise club. Unless I sleep a heckova lot better than I do at home, it will still be deep dark when I make it up on deck.

Might be intersted in the scrapbook swap too - depends on your plan.

We did a page swap on one of last year's seven day cruises. The ladies each chose a topic (signed up for it, so there was not duplicates) and made The same 12 x 12 page (or two) for each person (without photos). We got together one day to talk about our pages and swap. It was fun and great to have a head start on the cruise album when we got home.

Thanks for posting a list. It will help me with ideas for our little program...BTW as you all think of or plan an activity, can you PM me so I can add it to the program?? I am trying to keep up but sometimes I get behind. There have been a lot of ideas thrown around, but not all of them have been finalized and I want to make sure I capture what I can. Does anyone know when and where we are having Bunko and the other card game people talked about?

And, please pm me when you have a plan nailed down, so I can post it on the first page.

Remember the DREAM Float out is today at 11 am eastern, 5 pm in Pappenburg.

Good morning all! Just saying hi. We are getting ready to take the kids to WDW to celebrate potty success. Our DS3 has not had an accident for 2+ weeks and our DD who will be 2 next month has gone for more than a week!! Looking forward to NO diapers on this cruise! :cool1:
Maybe since there are so few kids on this cruise they'll let DD hang out in the club with her brother sometimes.

We would love to get together with everyone here in Central Florida sometime prior to the cruise. A trip to a WDW park would be fun. Please let me know if you have any interest. I'm thinking one of the following Saturdays:
  • Nov. 20
  • Dec. 4
  • Dec. 11

Once we decide who is interested and which Saturday will work best, we can pick a park. If admissions are an issue we can meet up at Downtown Disney or a resort. Even if you don't live in Central Florida but may be in the area, feel free to join us.

We will be at WDW on the 10 and will leave sometime on the 11. If you meet at a resort or DTD let me know.

Oh it is just so wonderful when you get rid of those diapers(or nappies as we call them) Enjoy your day.

DVC Members - have you tried yet to prepay your tips? The first cruise i took using points i prepaid on line. Second one i had to go to DCL by phone who made me call DVC who made me call DCL. When they again said call DVC, I told the DVC person what was going on and she took care of it, i forget exactly how. but this time she said basically "you cant pay on line for security reasons, but I'll connect you to the right person and they will bring you back to me". and the person that she conneccted me to had my name and addres and all she needed was payment method, and sent me right back to DVC where we concluded we were done, an that was it. So easy! But it seems odd if you use points you can't pay tips on line. did i miss somehting?

I dont think they give the servers enough so i throw cash in the envelopes too. the dining room servers are all so excellent!

I know what you mean - I drive my DH nuts worrying we will be late or not get something done in time. He on the other hand - oh never mind.

Kinda a scary isn't it? Big decision is do I not decorate the front of the house this year for Christmas. The thought of getting the final cruise stuff ready and taking down decorations is frightening. Every year my DH says we should go away for the holidays.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

We got our Vista tees yesterday too. Got to say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the shirts. Not as heavy as say the JC Penney's underwear but better then I was expecting. The image wasn't perfect but good for the price.

We'll have a DISboard activity for everyone. That is so great. Let's be sure to coordinate the date and times as much as possible.

At the risk of showing my age, to quote the orginal A-Team "I love it when a plan comes together" Val

My Dad is sailing in the Baja Ha-Ha from San Diego to Cabo and back to San Diego so it was nice to get an email from him today letting us know he's made it through their first leg to Turtle Bay. He took up sailing after my Mom passed away twelve years ago and has a great time with his friends on these trips.

My husband and I did the Baja HaHa last year and we have several friends that are on it this year. What fun! We will be doing it on our boat in a couple of years. I know he will have a great time.

Corinna, this would be fun. I can bring my tools again if you need them.

I got home last night after five days at WDW. What fun I had with my adult son and my friends that live there. We did all four parks and it was a 'hammer down' week but we saw almost everything and did a lot. I am exhausted but it was worth it. This was the first time we did the Dining Plan and it was great. We ate at Raglan Roads, 'Ohana's, Yakitori House and 50's PrimeTime. It certainly paid for itself.

So many great ideas out there for things to do on the cruise. We are going to have a fantastic time, no doubt about it! Here's one more or maybe it's already been suggested and I missed it. How about a meeting place after late dining for those of us older ones that just want to sit and relax but not ready to go to the room yet? On the WBTA we met at the Cove Cafe, had a drink, reviewed the day and got to know each other more. Sometimes there were 20 people and sometimes 6. Some showed up alone cause their partner wanted to go to sleep but they didn't so they could still socialize. Anyway, just a thought. It was very informal, no planning or sign ups necessary and no age limit, young or old.

I'm off to PM about several things so watch your inboxes.....hahaha

Have a great weekend!
