Sci-Fi is a fun place to eat. You sit in cars and watch old horror flicks like at the drive in movies. When I had my bakery, I stole a cake from there. They called it "The Cake that ate NY". I called it banana split. It was quite good. Three layers of Banana cake with chocolate, strawberry and pineapple fillings.

Oh now, that sounds yummy. I wonder if they still serve it. Places have a habit of changing menus just as we decide to visit. It happened with the room service menu on the Magic. We have never done room service apart from a cheese plate/Mickey Bar delivery and a breakfast when we had the Romantic Escape at Sea. But, I always fancied the tuna sandwich in brioche, or was it a cottage loaf or something. Anyway, I was going to have this one day among other things, and they flipping changed the menu and I didn't fancy the other stuff!!!

To be honest, they do need more items on there.

Does anyone know where we will dock in Manzanillo? Is it at the new cruise ship pier, where there are points of interest near the ship, or the old pier in the industrial area?

There doesn't seem too be much to do there? How many of your are staying onboard? If there are enough of us, do we want to plan something on-board?

I think so,new cruise ship peir. only beacause I want to go to the light house and they describe it as a 10 min ride away which is about right I think.

As for the cruise not selling - I can understand why so many people in the US wouldn't be able to book it, given the school year and the state of the economy. OTOH, I just about jumped for joy when it was announced, as it is my dream cruise, and it fits perfectly in the middle of our kids' Summer holidays.

I'm knackered, and I'm back at work in an hour and a half I need a nanna nap !

The word I'm curious about, and have seen used twice is "locuming". What the heck does it mean. Usually I am pretty good at figuring out things (all the abbreviations) by the context of the sentence. But, I cant get that one, lol






Wow! Lots of discussion on FE's. This is my first DCL and I am totally excited about this. Never having done this before, I based mine on 110, so I made/bought enough for 110. They are all packaged and set to go. I dont have much of an opinion, although out of all the posts & comments, I agree most with LindaBabe. Whatever you all decide is fine by me. If you cut it off at 100 and start another group, can we be in both groups?? I told you I am excited, I am excited about both giving and receiving.




Based on the descriptions of the excursions, it sounds like a 30 min ride to town. So, I would venture a guess that we are in the industrial area. We are copying Alan the shark and staying on ship in this port. This is also the night (6:30) that we have Palo ressies. Tami - love the shirts!! Did I read somewhere that while you were creating on VistaPrints website you got the "image not good" warning? And did you go ahead and use the image and this is how your shirts turned out?? If so, I know what I am working on tomorrow!!

I agree with waiting on the certificates for the captains name.

Regarding the FE - I am part of the dry erase board group so that is taken care of. I also ordered personalized laser cut pencils for the kids - I hope to be able to tell how many kids are in each cabin - if I run out I cannot buy more. But it is what I am able to do financially and willing to do with regards to packing.

If Jenns estimate of 80 is accurate - then if people plan for 100 it think we're good. I would not want anyone left out either but people do have to plan.

We are not doing anything in Manzanillo either - but if this is where the glass blowing factory is I was wanting to taxi over there and check it out.

We had a family change their plans in Cabo - anyone up for a private surfing lesson/day at the beach??

Love the shirts!! I am definitely ordering mine from Vista now after seeing how great they look and how they gave you no problem on the Mickey/Disney stuff.

Also love Sci Fi Dine in Theater- we are going for lunch on the WDW pre-cruise portion of our trip. It is one of the few places I've gone too ever since my first trip to WDW as a kid, I think it is such a cool atmosphere and something 'different' than you can do at home.

Tami – Sorry to be such a disappointment – story of my life.
Actually, when I saw how few shore excursions DCL has in Manzanillo I had thought about exploring private options – for about 2 seconds. I am an over planner and thinker, I even register with the US state department whenever we are going out of the country. Like they are going to do something for us if there is a personal problem --- not. My logic (DH) tells me the problems are mostly at the towns near the Mexican borders, but I can’t be stressed by planning a non-DCL inland trip in Mexico.
I was hoping to go on the whale watching Tinkerbel129 is organizing in Cabo but by the time I heard back from Pez Gato it was full and they don’t have a waiting list. They said they wouldn’t recommend another company. If anyone is on that tour and decides to cancel, could you contact me before you notify them so I might be able to take your place? Thanks
If we stay onboard in Manzanillo, what type of activity might you be interested in? Organized ship tour, mixed drink tasting, scavenger hunt? I’ll think about it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, I didn't wade through all 750 posts prior to signing up for the cruise so I didn't know the decision had already been made to cut off at 100. I guess my concern is that if I just spend $5 on each FE, that is $500 just in FE gifts. Plus most of us have to fly to at least one of the Ports which means that we have to carry 100 gifts in our luggage at least once.

If you chose to spend that much on an FE gift then for YOU obviously 100 is too many. so I suggest you decide how many you wish to give and go with that.

I did a rough count from Jeff's list on the website quickly, so I may be off by a couple, but I got 79 rooms listed as FE participants as of today. I still stand by my opinion of having a cut off of some sort, either the date or the amount, say 100 since several people have used that as their benchmark and/or already bought that amount. I see the perspective about others joining later but the suggestion to have a second group and also those who want to deliver randomly to whom they want will solve that- my position is that whoever I give to will be those on the list that were excited about this enough to have signed up and planned for months. Sorry, thats just me, I'm a big planner and I appreciate those who can commit in advance and make things easier for all the planners like me out there. I put a lot of effort into my gifts so I want to know what I'm doing and for whom, not scrambling at the last minute.

It sounds like this may be something that people feel strongly enough about that we can have a poll posted on the website. It can be 3 choices- cut off date of 11/6, cut off at 100 staterooms, or no cut off at all, and we could vote. This seems simple enough that we can at least come to a decision so we're not debating this endlessly. Thoughts?

Can some one help me.
I am going to book a dream b2b on the cruise, I was worried about there being no inside cabins available so ....
Ive booked but not paid deposit for a b2b with DU.
When I get on board if there are indeed no cat 11s availabe, can I cancel du booking and swap to booking same cabins on the ship to the discount?
Maybe I should book direct with disney to make this possible?

I found it easier to book direct from DCL so I had control of the reservation when I went to rebook on board. Then I named DU as the TA during the rebooking process. When I did this for the Panama cruise I was able to keep my same cabin assignment and get the discount and OBC.

I have a Dream Nov 2011 reservation I'll need to rebook on board in Jan.

We'll be at the BWV for the two nights before the cruise. We're still trying to decide if we want to mess with a rental car now that it's just the two of us.

Thank you Kay for posting the shirt pics. Yes, when it was time to check out I received a message that the graphics might not be that good, but I ordered anyway. On the woman's one I added red rhinestone mickey heads for the ports and a few clear and blue rhinestones around the border. It's really cool.

Val, I'm not really disappointed in you. But you sound a bit like me. I tend to over plan. This vacation I'm not planning anything. It's nice having someone plan for me.

Linda, please forgive me if I'm interpreting your response incorrectly, but when I read this I felt a negative vibe. You seem like you are strongly saying how "you" dont need a poll to make your decision- but that is exactly the point of a poll, so that the group as a whole makes the decision that appeals to the most people. Just like we did for our official logo, I'm sure each person had their favorites because they were all so nice, but we did a vote to come up with the majority favorite. I was merely suggesting a poll because it does seem that there are many who agree with me about doing a cutoff point, but there were also many who agreed with you about letting it continue openly and allowing people to do as they please, so a vote would help make a decision.

Again, sorry if I'm reading too much into your comments, but I am just being honest and I felt a bit turned off after reading your post. If I were the only person who felt a cutoff was needed I would have left well enough alone, but as you know there were many who replied and agreed with me, so I suggested a vote. I feel that your reply was indicative that your opinion was somehow more valid than mine and the others who agreed with me about a cutoff.

I guess in summary I dont get what the big deal is about having a poll, its just a simple vote that Jeff already said would be easy to post on the website. If the results end up as no cut off point against my personal opinion, I am totally fine with that. I get the feeling that when people are opposed to a vote they are really just afraid their point of view will be over-ruled and they might not get their way, but I know for me I am fine with whatever the majority chooses, so I dont see what the big deal is.

We're staying at BLT. We're arriving on 1/5 and meeting up with some friends we met on our other cruise as they are spending the week at WDW. Really looking forward to seeing them!
