WOW! It was a crazy night at work. 10 admits 4 of them mine! Wish we had computer charting! We did whale watching in Alaska. Still unsure as to what to do. Thought about a snorkel tour but on the cruise critic board they said it was not very good. So still up in the air with that. I would love to do the junlge cruise in CR but hubby has no patientce for a 75 min bus ride and then another one back. He feels it is a waste of time. So we willl hang by the ship. For Cabo really just want to see the sea lions and the rocks. Will look some more at shore excursions. Less than 5 weeks till our Oct Disney vacation.

As far as I know I am allergic to all forms of incect replant. I really don't want to try something new. I'd rather not go rafting than look like a gigantic rash for the last week if the cruise.

You could write a soap opera about my life. Down to 2 days (yesterday) before wedding and everything is going well. In fact it was going so smoothly I jinxed myself. I said it worries me that I'm not worried at this point.

Well yesterday about 3 pm. We get a call from our son who is driving here for the wedding. This is the son with the dog whose neck was broken (she's doing much better). This is also the son who is unemployed, as is his wife, with tons of bills, etc. He also spent over a year living in my back yard in his motor home.

Anyway, back on track...he calls and says he is in Bakersfield (about 4 hrs away) and he has totalled his car on the highway! Ran into the back of someone because he was watching his wife give the dog water!!!! Plus because they arent working they only have PL & PD insurance so there car is gone no coverage for it. DS is a hypochondriac and had to go to the hospital by ambulance, no he is fine. Talk about drama

So DH left here at 7:30 last night to drive over 4 hrs each way to get them. Its 4:30 am now and they still arent here. Wedding rehearsal & dinner are tonight, reception needs to be decorated at noon and cakes arent finished. Centerpieces need to be made...it's going to be a very long day.

Thank you for letting me vent, lol

. Also we are in wdw for a week before the cruise. Has anyone used garden grocers to get their groceries? How were they for service? Thanks so much

I have used Garden Grocer several times and always got what I ordered and it was waiting for me at my resort when I arrived. (They do keep refridgerator stuff in a fridge at the resorts.)

Wine Meet and Greet - Part 2

Ok guys, I'm working on getting the wine meet and greet hammered out. Right now I'm looking at the first sea day, probably around 2pm, in Diversions or Cadillac.

Here's where I'm stuck. Doing a trayed party for 40 people is a little bit out of my reach, even if I charge a nominal fee per person. Keeping things as transparent as possible, for 2 hours, we'd basically be looking at over $1000 before corkage fees even came into play.

So, what I'm going to look at instead is seeing if I can finagle the space for 2 hours for a flat rate, have a table set up with 40-50 wine glasses, an empty table for us to place our bottles on as well as handling self opening and pouring (I'll handle bar duties if needed :)) and ordering 2 fruit and 2 cheese platters for the event. (The platters apparently feed about 12-15 people). If I can work it out to handle that for about $500, I think that ends up being reasonable for people to throw some donations in to help offset my cost.

I was just checking on travelocity site to see how how many cabins were available (still 7+ in many cats) and noticed that Secret Porthole Cabin 5520 is available at the cost of an inside (10A). Thought someone might be interested as I know how popular these room are!

WOOHOO! Just switched to 5520 and saved more than enough for tip $$ :woohoo: I am buying you a drink when I get onboard! :worship: I love these rooms!

I had been checking for one of these rooms almost everyday up until PIF (even a day or two after) and then decided it was hopeless as the chances of someone PIF and then cancelling 1 of only 6 rooms was pretty slim.
We booked the day the cruise was released over a year ago and by the time I got someone on the line they were all gone.

I'll miss the steamer trunk but I'll just bring extra store hangers instead.

:grouphug: I hope they arrive soon and you can relax and enjoy. :wizard:

We started school on August 2 to allow for extra "vacation" days ....

I home school Haley as well. We started early too - one week. Plus, we only plan to take 2 days during Thanksgiving (vs. 5 like the school district) and 5 at Christmas (vs 10 like the school district.) We take Labor day and Memorial day off but those are the only other holidays we take and it seems like every couple of months, there is some sort of school holiday. During the cruise, we plan to take advantage of port educational opportunities when they arise, but really that is any port adventure. However, on sea days, I don't plan to have her do any school work. I understand that there are those that have to in order to comply with schools and such but since we don't have too, we're going to just let it be vacation. :goodvibes Even not doing anything on sea days we'll still be ahead. Those are nice to have for when her Daddy is off of work during the week we just want to take a family day (he works a lot of weekends).

CONGRATS!!! We too are in a SPH and more than a year ago my DH saw one pop up and switched us too with savings galore. :woohoo:

:cool1: Yay!!! So glad you got it! I guess because the penalty date isn't until 10/8, there will still be a few rooms open up until then.

We do not actually have to justify it but it is preferable if she does something. It doesn't have to be super educational - just something in that port (meaning - if we opted not to get off at that port and she played in the kid's club all day with video games etc...it wouldn't feel quite right counting it) She is registered through a private school here but regardless if she was through a private school or on our own, we have to account for 176 days of school in CA.

I get creative on the sea days :) Anything type of "talk" about the port or the canal or a galley tour etc... works. Her school only asks that she do something where she learns. We started school on August 2 to allow for extra "vacation" days on days where we just don't do anything but usually we get to count everything. I homeschool her M-T and she attends an art class and a writing class on Friday. So we don't actually have to take her out - just notify the "school" that she won't be there those Fridays but we don't need permission at all.

There are so many different flavours of homeschooling, the important part always must be what is best for the child

Who knows the child better than his parents?

Looking forward to meeting everyone on board

I'll copy this up to the front page. If you get 50 people, it works out to $10 per person.

Perdy, I like Wegoshop. The person's name is Marge (I think) - she's local and shops whereever you prefer. Actual cost plus $17 service fee at last use.

No problem...it's what friends are for! It will all work out - will be thinking good thoughts for your weekend.

How effective is this if you are moving around? I had never heard of this, and thought it would be great for the shore excursions! However, I was reading the Directions for Use, and it states, "If you move, allow a few minutes for the unit to rebuild its protection." So I'm wondering if it's not the best repellent if you're on the go.

It's been great for DH, he uses it while going all around our ranch property and he's never still for long.

Oh no! Nothing ever seems to go smoothly around weddings. Hang in there!

Good/bad news on the doggies. I received a call early this morning that someone picked up our Lab (Gus) over 7 miles away and I brought him home. He's lost about 15 pounds, but otherwise in great shape. He goes into the vet later today to get a spot on his shoulder checked out. No sign of our Border collie (Tink) yet.

So pleased to hear about Gus. I'm sure with lots of love and care he will be back to his normal self. Hopefully Tink will turn up very quickly now too.

Happy to hear one dog made it back. I can't imagine the relief yet disappointment that it's only one. Hopefully, Tink will be home soon too.

We are in escrow! If all goes well we close in 30 days!

How does this tie in to the cruise?

We weren't sure which way were going to get to LAX.... now we know!
