Alan - do you not like OKW?? That is our home resort (and SSR from an add on) - in fact, I think that was the only resort available when we purchased back in '93. I love it there and have never stayed in a room that looked it's age. We have also stayed in the BWV (LONG walk to the room) and SSR but that is the extent of my wanderings. There are a few others that I would like to try out someday though.

HOT, HOT, HOT!! It could snow tomorrow and I would be thrilled. This just isn't my cup of tea. Linda - how is Bruce getting along? I hope some better each day.

Take care everyone - sounds like those of you in Texas are in for more rain. Bless you and be careful.

Gail, i'm with you. Other than transportation OKW is my fave. done BWV and SSR and looked at most, but like the size and quiet of OKW. and decor - homey not glitzy.

we didn't get so hot here in maryland like they predicted - only got to 101. My SIL in florida (west coast) isn't have this kind of heat!!

Just heard about the 5.4 rolling though Anaheim this afternoon. Hope all you local guys and gals are OK.

Yep! We are considering taking 'build an ark' classes at the community college this summer, due to the amount of water! It looks like we'll be on the rainy side of the next tropical development too.

To those on the East Coast, stay:cool2:cool and don't overload the powergrids! To the West Coast, sounds like a rocking:dance3: good time...hope everyone is okay regardless of your location!!

Everyone here is fine... we didn't get much but a rolling sensation..the epicent er was much farther away...just getting tired of the rocking and rolling! :)

Oh Oh Oh, I'm so excited. Just popped on my DVC page for about the 100th time since I tried to book a few weeks ago, and our wait list has come through for VGC!!!!! What a surprise. I was just expecting the usual page to come up and lo and behold!!!!!:yay: 4 nights in a Studio!

Congrats on the VGC! :thumbsup2

After reading about the bad weather and earthquake some are experiencing I'm thankful for being in Nor Cal as our weather has been just fine and no rocking and rolling here. Everyone take care and stay safe.

You made me think of my upcoming B2B in Oct. I really want to stay at my home resort if AKV because a friend of mine got the club level there. So because of late planing due to the cancelation of the TA in sep. I am in at OKW for the same amount of points. So far no luck on my wait list but that is alright. I am thinking about canceling my waitlist anyway and going on the waitlist for my stay after the B2B at BWV. Right now we are going back to OKW.

We are also wait listed for BLT for 3 nights after the TA cruise in October. We are booked for 7 at the BWV, but friends are at BLT. We are 4 months into that wait list and as it is a busy weekend i don't think it will come through, so I am going to cancel that one. We will try another time.

I quite fancy staying at OKW. We own at SSR and love it there, but OKW would be a change. We love BCV though.

Hmmmmmm, maybe cruising is not for you. Just kidding.

Good Morning everyone!

Bruce is still fairly uncomfortable, but the blessing is - with this heat, he's ok with staying quiet inside by the A/C.

Tonight is my Stampin- up party - I'm excited!

Stay cool everyone!

Is there room for me in the class? Hubby might need it to cruise up 288 if it keeps on raining! Actually, as long as there is time for it all to soak in before the next big round, I'm happy for the rain (as I'm sure you are too) as it helps keep the temps down and the grass green!

Hope everyone in the Northeast is staying cool! I know how hot those temps are for us and we're more acclimated to them. I'm sure it's not very enjoyable for y'all. Stay cool and be safe out there! Everyone in Southern CA, hope all are okay. Earthquakes really freak me out. We visited CA once and I loved it and will visit many times I'm sure (in fact, we have a trip to San Francisco planned for October and obviously LA in Jan). However, due to earthquakes, don't think I could ever live there. I think I'd rather live near the coast and risk hurricanes! At least we have a warning before a big one and have a chance to leave if we want!

Hate to hear that some are leaving this cruise but at least you can enjoy the Dream! And to the newcomers, welcome aboard!

Does anyone know where we will be able to pick up basic groceries when we are at the VGC? I know we could have a delivery, but for what we would want that would be expensive. We don't mind a walk. Mainly breakfasts and snack food, perhaps a lunch or light meal, bread and cheese etc.

I don't suppose we will want much for a day or so anyway!!!!!:lmao:

Have made 3 ADR's for Jan. We come in on Sunday. Late Birthday celebration plus my Mom will be staying with us for 4 nights. Tried to get Ohana no luck so will try Kona this time.

Anyone have insight on how likely the closing time/fireworks time for Wishes fireworks at MK will be the few days prior to the cruise? I want to have dinner at California Grill on 1/5 after the fireworks, which right now are scheduled at 8:00, so I was going to make an 8:45 reservation. I'm considering though also making an earlier dinner reservation there for say, 6:00, in case they move the fireworks up to 9 or 10? Is that likely or is it more likely to stay 8:00 since Jan is a "slow" time?

Do you want to go to the MK to watch the fireworks? We have seen them each time we eat there out on their deck - second best spot besides the park in my opinion. I always felt that once WDW released their hours, they stuck to them. Also, the park itself closes at 8:00, that is another indication that they will be at 8:00.

And, I am jealous. I had considered the night before at a DVC resort and doing dinner there but changed my mind. But, I could change it again...

I have seen the fireworks a few times from the deck at California Grill, and while it is nice, I've "been there, done that" and now much prefer it in the park if possible, meaning if I have the ticket, I'm going to the park, and if I'm doing a less-park time trip, I'll watch from the deck then. We have 2 day complimentary park hoppers, so we are doing DHS and AK during the day, and Epcot/MK for fireworks each night to get the most out of the tickets. My plan is to go to MK for the fireworks and then walk back to CG for a later dinner which is our preferred time to eat anyway.

Given the popularity of CG, I think I will doublebook 2 times just to be safe in case they do change the times.

tried for 'Ohana as well. When I could not get anything at all for 1/5/11 thinking that was strange I decided to give Member Services a call. Well after a long time on hold the very helpfull and funny Member Services person said it looks like there is a problem with the system as he could book breakfast but not one dinner after 1/1/11. Just thought I would share that.

Complimentary park hoppers = no brainer for being in the park. Lucky, lucky. I saw that there was no light parade so that pretty much seals the deal for me and not going. I actually like that better than Wishes.

I enjoy the SpectroMagic parade too, but after seeing it twice in one night on New Years Eve this past year (we had to sit in our "spot" for 6 hours waiting for the midnight fireworks), I'm not bummed its not running that night. It is a great display though!

Hi Everyone. I dropped off the board back the first of the year when life just got plain too busy. When I started reading again, I promised I wouldn't post until after I had read all the posts. Well, guess what? I'm finally caught up!

My sympathies to all going through troubled times, either with aging parents, family illnesses, job loss. It sounds like the karma that has followed my family around is spreading itself around. Hopefully life will be better for everyone soon.

I need some advice from some of our DVC cruisers (and it looks like there are several of us :)). Debate aside of which is better to cruise on points or with cash, I find myself in the position of either needing to rent some points out (which I've done before), paying with points and cash, or cancelling:scared1:. I thought I had it figured out where I could use points for Joe and I and pay cash for Carly. When I talked with member services the pointed out that the 630 2012 points I wanted to use couldn't be used until March 1 -- a little late for this cruise. Has anyone rented points out like that? I have a listing on the rent/trade board, but can't imagine anyone would want to trade and transfer their current use-year points to me in return for my points that would go into there current use-year.

Sorry to be so long-winded and needy in my first post back, but I'm at a real crossroads and am open to suggestions.

I look forward to being more active. Oh, and I'm still willing to coordinate the FE gifts for our overseas sailors. I was thinking of the wristbands if noone has spoken up for them yet.

Thanks for listening,
Tenya
