Woke up to sun in Florida! Finally it has rained every day this week. Going to meet a friend for lunch. Have not seen her in many years. I would love to stay at the Aulani but not own there. Possibly doing another cruise there and stay there afterwards or before hand.

Yeah, i fought DVC for years. then DD worked there and we got 25% off and i caved. so now i dont feel ever like we cant afford to go to disney because one of the biggests expenses is prepaid! plus we used it in places like New York where we stayed in a 2 room suite for a few nights, not far from central park for what didn't seem at the time to be a huge number of points, making that trip affordable (since we had more points than we were going to use in Fla that year), and pleasant. so it's not just disney. when we retire we plan on being there a month a year (or so, dependingt on which month) to be out of marylands snow!

Well, "uneventful" didn't happen here. Got a phone call at the pool - dh had crashed on his bike. verdict after 3 hours in ER - 4 cracked ribs and two stitches in his elbow. :( I dunno WHAT he's going to do if he gets wounded while I'm on the cruise, but for sure, I won't be flying home to hold his hand.

Oh no!! I'm so sorry!!! I hope he has a speedy recovery!!

Poor guy, ouch! Those ribs are going to be painful. Wishing him a speedy recovery.:flower3:

On the DVC topic, as much as I would like to buy some points for Aulani, we can't right now. I can see us using the resort for 3-4 nights before or after a trip to one of the other islands. I may even try taking our grandson, nieces & nephew for a week sometime in the future. We usually need 2 bdrm units so I find they are easier to get at the 7 month reservation point than studios. We have a week in Kauai coming up in Jan 2012 so we'll try out the new Aulani resort either before or after Kauai to see what it's like.

Poor Bruce - and probably poor Linda before he is back to normal. Tell him we said hi, sorry and to take it easy. And, you take care of yourself too.

Thank you! You're probably right. He'll take it easy for a while, but then he'll get antsy, and there'll be trouble. I will, and thank you. (I tend to be more the 'tough love' type of nursemaid rather than the 'oh you poor dear'.)

Well I was able to book Palo brunch for my wedding aniversary. We are doing B2B in oct and the sea day just happens to be our 10th aniversary. Also the 4day in this B2B is the second cruise.

Linda- I sure hope Bruce is feeling better soon- if he gives you any gruff let me know - we'll be in CT the end of the month (visiting Becky) maybe I can swing by on the way through and sit on him LOL. (That'll for sure remind him the ribs aren't fully healed!)

For those of you considering doing your own laundry on the cruise- I found a new (very concentrated) laundry detergent at Lowes yesterday. (Isn't it amazing how we went looking for paint and ended up looking at lawn tractors, buying charcoal and detergent????) but no paint??? Anyway its a liguid/pump bottle and says it will do 25 loads and small enough to fit in my purse with room to spare. I'm going to try it several different ways over the next week or so and I'll let you know how it works. It's called Method Laundry Detergent if you want to try it yourselves.

What a great suggestion! I'm going to get some and try it too.

Why didn't you get paint? We found that Lowe's Valspar (the expensive one of the varities) covered great! On the mom's house, we used only a little over half what we expected to need.

When you're driving to CT, you pass within a few miles of our house. Let's plan a meet!

Happy Independence day, all!

I am so excited DH said he would take me to see Toy Story 3 today. :cool1:

Did you enjoy it? We loved it...definitely needed tissues...

Happy 4th of July everyone!

We aquired two more foster puppies this week...we named them Stars and Stripes... they are not siblings but somehow came into the shelter together.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend..we are off to the movies and then home for a BBQ and fireworks.

We attended the DVC event last night for the new resort in Hawaii. It was a lot of fun and the resort looks beautiful. We can't add on any more points but it was fun to see.

Happy 4th of July to all, regardless of your nationalities! Here's to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...:cool1:

Sunshine in Texas this morning, glad to have the rain but also glad to see the sun!

I have a DVC & WDW question for this fabulous group...next summer we are planning a 3 day stay at WDW prior to sailing the Dream where my DSis will be married on Castaway Cay (insert your ahhhhs here!)...our home resort is Saratoga Springs which we love, but for this trip we will have 6 other:grouphug:families (mostly with young kids) and are considering a stay at AKL (for the view of the animals) or BLT (for the closeness to MK and it's cool factor). Which resort would you book and why? thanks in advance!!!

I think you have two great choices for your group. While I love AKV and have not stayed at BLT, you might want BLT if you plan on alot of MK park time.

DH is also working from house (his office is the formal one downstairs, we can't share office space:lmao:) until he can 'walk again' (broke the heel bone on Mothers Day, surgery was first part of June with dr. orders for no weight on it until mid-August at the earliest, praying:worship: he will be up to 50% speed for this cruise)
Sorry about your DH. Hope he's all better for the cruise :)

I think it's great what you do for these puppies! If I had a bigger place with neighbors further away, I'd do the same. Yesterday, while we were out shopping, DD wanted to go to PetSmart to look at the dogs (a shelter holds adoptions there during the weekend). I was hesitant because I know we don't need another dog and the shelter has a dachshund for adoption (saw it on facebook on their fan page). I was actually relieved that the weren't holding adoptions due to the holiday. Even though it's a no kill shelter, I might not have been able to keep myself from him as he looks like my first two doxies. Hopefully he'll find a home before we go back up there.

Whew, finally back from Long Beach!! Happy 4th of July all!!! For once, I have nothing planned but to catch up on everything I have let slide while being away from my house for the last month. My yard, pool, house all need a little TLC!!
Hello all!! Been kind of busy around here. I'm getting ready for girl's camp (for girls 12-18) that I am in charge of later this month.

We have a new grandson!!:yay: He was born yesterday morning!! He and his mom are doing well!

I don't think we are going to do very many excursions. We are mostly going to get off the ship and walk around a little, and shop. But I think that's pretty much all we will do. The only excursion we are thinking of doing is maybe a zipline excursion.
Congrats on your new grandson!!!! Post pics!
I used to not get why people would go off the ship and buy food. Then I realized that some people just want to try the local flavor. I get that, but I am with you. Why spend even more when you have, and I got this from a table mate on the last Panama cruise, pre paid food waiting for you here on the ship.
This is so funny, I was following along with this line of conversation, thinking the same thing until I realized that when we did the Medi Cruise in '07, some of my greatest memories were sitting around at the Piazzas trying the local foods! Can't believe I forgot about that--especially La Rambla in Barcelona! So, I guess what it comes down to is...sometimes it's worth it and sometimes its not!:thumbsup2
Well I am not going to be getting off because the empty ship will give me time to really relax and reach a level of relaxation I will want to reach as the busy holiday travel time would gave been going on. The Stupidity of things I get asked in the summer and Holidays is just amazing. Those two times of year I really work my rear end off so relaxing is all I want. Who knows something might sound cool in a port, if it does and falls into budget I will do it. Well off to DL. We are going to a DVC event fir the new HI resort. After looking at the point chart and knowing that dues are starting at 4.32 per point and the fact that you have to pay a HI tax every time you check out we are not even concidering buying, we are going to get the pins since we are pin collectors. Have a good one everyone.
As a frequent SWA flier, I can totally relate! I often feel so sorry for you all and the stuff you have to endure!
Carmen and TAC, please stay safe!! I hope the rain stops soon!
Carmen and TAC, I am glad you survived the rain--can't say that we have much in So. Cal, especially now, so it is so weird to hear of rains and floods, but I am glad you are getting a break.

I am so sorry about your DH--hope he feels better soon. I hear ribs are the worst because there is little they can do and it hurts like nothing else!
Happy 4th of July everyone!

That reminds me...Happy Birthday Banner!!! I have this weird quirk of trying to rescue any stray dog I come in contact with (drove my ex crazy). Last year I took my DD to D-land for the day and on our way home, a dog ran across the road right in front of me. No, I did not hit him, but I did offer to give him a ride. He happily agreed and we named him "Banner" in honor of the 4th. I found him a wonderful home and I almost forgot that today was the day he was rescued! So, take good care of Stars and Stripes!! I hope they find a forever family soon:cloud9:

Sherri, how is your dad??

Happy 4th All!!
