From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

Hump day! I like that part but how did it get to be the last day of June already??? I find it amazing how fast time can go.

St. Thomas - I love St. Thomas (or always have). We have done Megan's and Saphire beaches, toured and gone to St. John. I think it is a prettier islant that St. Maartin. I guess, depending on where they drove you through - it can be sad and run down.

I still have no idea what we will be doing on any of the islands. I found a photography tour online in Aruba but come to find out - they don't offer it anymore. DH would have enjoyed that and I would have enjoyed the scenery. They need to pull it - or offer it again. I get stuck on the first port and haven't done much of anything else.

Well, take care and have a good rest of the week. Anyone have any grand plans for the Fourth? Not me - DH is at camp so it will still just be me and the pups.

In St. Thomas we like Paradise Point a lot. That will be my part of the St. Thomas conversation. As for the 4th. I am working. Please no one feel bad, I start at 3:30 PM and off at midnight but we are running a really reduced flight schedule so I will get to do a lot of nothing and get paid for it. I always love that.

It's already July here ;) My eldest turns 13 this month !

I love working public holidays here - double time and a half where I work.

We saw TS3 on Tues. - lovely movie. Aside from that, nothing much new, although rather bummed about the state of the $Aus...

Have a great day / night.
Cheers,
Sally (only realised y'day that my sig doesn't post when I use my itouch *pout*)

DH works a lot of holidays too. Not 2 straight days & nights, more like 30 hour shifts. But that's not restricted to holidays only. It's at least once a week, sometimes twice. Anyway, we get sad when he has to spend holidays, birthdays, ect working these long shifts but due to the nature of his work, it makes us all very thankful to be healthy.

As far as the 4th, he's actually off!! We are planning on having a cookout and swim party with some friends - that is if we don't get rained out. We have rain in the forecast through the weekend.

But, he will most likely be working Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. They are supposed to get Christmas OR New Years off but because of this cruise, he is working both of them to not burn so much vacation time.

All this talk about working and time off is really making me excited to be off from 12/31/10 - 1/23/2011 for this trip. :thumbsup2 I haven't taken off 3 weeks straight in over 12 years.

It's sort of sad really - that at least here in the U.S. the concept of long relaxing vacations has almost vanished.

One of the things I like most about the longer cruises is they really force you to relax - I know it sounds odd, but I hope they never make the Internet fast and cheap onboard. It would eliminate the last escape....

I agree, no smartphone or laptop for me...I don't want to be found unless it's a true emergency while on vacation.

I think that's why I love the Little River area on the coast...our cell phones don't work at the cottage we stay in.:cloud9:

This is another reason I don't do excursions. I rather stay on the ship and veg out than go running around some island.

Thats like me, I feel bad when I miss others birthdays, mines is ok at work, just feel bad when I miss Lens, but needs must.

Cause I work mega shifts at the weekend, 44hours that is like a whole week, so I work a week then off a week, If I take a week vacation I get 3 weeks off:thumbsup2

I used to choose to work New Year over Christmas which helped the party goers out, and we never bother with New Year. But, I would have thought you wouldn't want to be working at New Year.

I do like to get off the ship - especially on the longer cruises. But it's not uncommon for me to do 1/2 day tours so I can get back to the ship for lunch and enjoy a relaxing and quiet afternoon on the ship.

In fact, on the Med cruise, the only full day tour I recall doing was Rome. On the last PC cruise I did a full day "Sierra Madre off-road adventure" - and don't regret it - it was a blast. But the rest were 1/2 day tours.:cool2:

That is why I always say to each their own. If I want to run around on Vacation I go to WDW. For me cruises are a time to do nothing but eat and drink and use the Hot tub or cove pool.

We won't be buying an Internet package or leaving cell phones on because Dh wants/needs to totally escape. He can nevr truely get away except when there is no cell/Internet service. Last year while driving through North Dakota, I mentioned something about it being 2 straight days with little/no cell service, DH smiled and said "Isn't it great!" Most people respect his time off; however, there are a couple who do not.

He does like to get off the ship though. He loves to see and do new things. As long as he does not have pagers and phones attached to him, he's happy. Of course, he loves the sea days too. That's what I think is great about this cruise as it's a great mix of sea and port days.

This is so true. With this itinerary if you like time at sea you should be happy. If you like port time you will be happy.

I alwasy let me opp shift decide, makes no differance to me as long as I get cruisng:thumbsup2

I am working on July 2-6 no time and half here. Only get those at Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Xmas Day. We don't really like excusions we have done 3 in our 9 years of marriage. Only 1 was with the cruise line. This past Jan we just hung out on the 2 port days. So nice. On those days we like to sit in the hot tubs or jump in the pool for a little while. Or take in a movie.

MUST have internet - so I can harass DH with all the things he's missing by staying home to ski!
