From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

Well, a four legged addition. We have a new lab 'puppy' - he is 8 months old. Walter (choc) and Tracker (the new golden).

ok, not on the ship, but i live in a relatively upscale condo complex here in LA. sunday morning (mothers day!) i was trying to do laundry. we have 2 washers and 2 dryers on each floor, and i believe 16 units on each floor (all 2-3 bedrooms).

i put my 2 loads in the wash, which is a 31 minute cycle.

at that time, in the dryer, a load of clothes had finished being dried (you can tell b/c until you open the machine door, it reads that there are 0 minutes left of the cycle).

i came back 31 minutes later to put clothes in the dryer, but the load remained untouched. my clothes remained wet in the washer.

i left and came back about 10 minutes later. still there.

so u put one load in the dryer, and waited 20 whole minutes before i came back, and saw the clothes were STILL there. now, the clothes have been sitting in the dryer for at least an hour, untouched. so i pulled them out, left them on top of the dryer, and put my second load in.

about 15 minutes later, i heard the laundry room door SLAM shut, then the sound of a laundry basket hitting the tiled floor, so loud i would believe it was thrown down.

i think there was a VERY unhappy person. but you know what? those clothes were sitting in there, DONE, for no less than an hour. who knows how long before that they were actually done. and personally, i think an HOUR of waiting is more than fair.

but this person clearly didn't think so.

Just poping in to say hi. Well Lynne the Transatlantic is dead. We have decided on one of four cruises. The 10/16 sailing to the Western, the 10/23 sailing to the Eastern, the 10/14 3 night, or the 10/17 4 night. We may do back to back as those 7 nights are $500.00 cheeper than a actual 7 night cruise. Now we just need to figure out the option. I think back to back will win out. I personaly would like to go on 10/16 as my friend, photocrjr will be on that cruise. We will see. One deal breaker is we have to be able to book a cat 11.

I am GREEN, yes green with envy if you choose the B2B. Both Linda and her DH Bruce and I did a B2B last November and had a blast. The time on the ship while we waited for the ship to be cleaned before the started boarding was great fun. We had an awesome time. My only advice is to be sure to have the same room so you don't have to move - but I am sure you already know that.

I am GREEN, yes green with envy if you choose the B2B. Both Linda and her DH Bruce and I did a B2B last November and had a blast. The time on the ship while we waited for the ship to be cleaned before the started boarding was great fun. We had an awesome time. My only advice is to be sure to have the same room so you don't have to move - but I am sure you already know that.

I know. If we have to move, no big deal for me. I rather just do the tradtional 7 day but we shal see. I will fight fir one thing. DW will fight for the other. Then I will just do what all good husbands do, I will do what she wants.

We did a B2B last September and loved it. The day in Port Canaveral was a fun day. When we came back onboard after checking in, of course there were no welcome aboard speeches, so we each introduced each other and applauded!!!!

We did a 3 and 4 day B2B two years ago and i will agree that the Port Canaveral day is a lot of fun! You basically get the ship all to yourself. Nothing is open and you can't get into your room, but being the only guest roaming the ship is a cool experience. Actually, if i remember correctly, the Cove Cafe was open so you can get drinks there. Unfortunately, we had to switch rooms, so that was a bit of a hassle. But a B2B is definitely worth doing at least once just to experience it.

we have done the middle of october cruise twice now and had perfect weather twice, no night shift buddies, but never mind, i will train Len up.

That's nice that you were able to go back to your room. I guess because we were switching rooms, they didn't allow us to. Honestly, it wasn't too bad though. It was only a couple of hours and we were able to roam around everywhere else. I was able to get a lot of good pictures of the ship without anyone else in them. There were a couple of shots that i wanted and unless i took them at 2 in the morning, there was no way i was going to get them without other guests in them.

Starting your laundry was a great idea! Definitely don't have to worry about other people on the ship doing theirs

I would do a B2B again in a heartbeat...now if only i can talk my hubby into it...

The problem really comes after you have done a long cruise. Anything less seems far too short!!!

I'm sure that will happen to us after this cruise! We've never done anything longer than a 7 day and this cruise is more than twice that. I don't know how I'll ever go back to a 4 or 3 day!

I know what you mean. We did the Medi (11 days) and then our next cruise was only 4 days. I was so weird to not know the crew and other people and have to get off so quickly! The B2B sounds good though...I will have to try that! Of course, the ideal B2B is the one that someone here just did with the TA and Medi. Ohhhhhhh how I would love that!
RE: cruise choices, not that my 2 cents are worthh a ton, but we did the Oct.23 Eastern last year (technically it was the 24th for us ) and we loved it! We docked on Halloween and then went to the party at the Magic Kingdom. Having only done summer cruises prior to that it was fun to be on the ship for the whole Halloween vibe and then to come home and start thinking of Christmas! I only had to decorate for one holiday! Yahoo!

RE: cruise choices, not that my 2 cents are worthh a ton, but we did the Oct.23 Eastern last year (technically it was the 24th for us ) and we loved it! Having only done summer cruises prior to that it was fun to be on the ship for the whole Halloween vibe and then to come home and start thinking of Christmas! I only had to decorate for one holiday! My mom has done an October cruise every year for the past 10 or so years. I've gone with her a couple of times and i think it's one of the best times to go. We've been over Halloween once and that was a lot of fun. Every gets dressed up and it's great to see the different costumes. Even the CMs are dressed up (though, it's usually just the Cruise Staff). The weather has always been good for us, even at CC. I would definitely recommend a cruise in Oct.

We have only done one 7 day and I still felt like I didn't have enough time onboard! I don't know if I could do less than a week. I mean, I guess I shouldn't say that until I try it but it just seems so short. We are throwing around ideas for fall 2011 and if we choose to cruise for that vacation, it will be the Western or a BTB on the Dream. I like the ideas trying out the Dream, CC twice and of having the ship to mostly ourselves on PC day but don't like the idea of Nassau times 2. I'm sure though we would enjoy just staying on board one of those times.

It's definitely a different experience going from a 7 day to a 3 or 4 day. I never feel like i have enough time on the ship. Mostly we do the shorter ones in order to get our "disney fix" They are cheaper and give you just enough DCL to make it to the longer cruises. I was actually just talking to Ben today about doing a B2B on the Dream next fall! He won't go for because he doesn't want to do the same thing twice. But for me it's nice because you get to explore the Dream more, and like you said, two days at CC! I'm not a fan of Nassau either, but i rarely get off the ship on port days anyway, so that doesn't bother me too much.

I will say that the only downside of B2Bs are the meals and shows. They repeat so you don't get something different each night.
