The problem really comes after you have done a long cruise. Anything less seems far too short!!!:lmao:

I'm sure that will happen to us after this cruise! We've never done anything longer than a 7 day and this cruise is more than twice that. I don't know how I'll ever go back to a 4 or 3 day! :rotfl:

We are staying on the ship for the 2 day after this..I know it's technically a B2B but I am not sure how it will feel being only 2 days long..atleast I will have been on for 15 already :rotfl2:

We have to move cabins so on one hand, that's kind of a bummer but on the other..we decided to splurge since it's my birthday! They are still not sure yet if we have to get off or stay on. My Mom and Sister are joining us for the 2 day so I would like to be able to get off and go pick them up so we only have 1 car at the port - we shall see. Anyone who has changed cabins before...any advice on how it goes? We would really love to take some of our luggage off but not sure that's going to happen.

I would love to do the 2 day cruise after this one, but hubby says no :sad1: Maybe i can talk him into it over the next year :rolleyes1

When we did the B2B 2 years ago we had to change cabins. We packed up our stuff and brought it to guest services the night before we docked. It was then in our room like normal the next day. Obviously we've never done this when docked in LA, but in Canaveral we did have to get off the ship for about an hour before the would let us get back on. I think it had to do with security because we had to check in again before getting back on board. We were able to check in and board around 10/10:30. If we wanted to, we could have gone back to our car and dropped off luggage. I would imagine it works the same in LA and you could probably go and pick up your mom and sister.

ell still not sure which one of these things will play out but it seems like B2B is the one that is going to win out. To be honest this is the one I want the least yet it has the lowest price and I would get credit for 2 cruises on my way to Plat. CC level. Well who knows. I am still hoping that some cat 11 will open up on 10/16.

Maybe as the date comes closer and DCL gives out upgrades, a cat 11 will come available. I've noticed that cat 11 and 12 seem to come and go on a whim (at least online). Can be very frustrating when you're trying to plan a vacation.

Oh how true this is. On the 10/16 sailing over the last 24 hours there has been all ctas, to just cat 5 as of a hour ago.

Oh there i, but they are not sharing this secret thats for sure.

We run into the same issue when tying to book through the cast member website. You can only book specific dates depending on what they have listed as available. You never know if a specific date will come up or when so you have to check multiple times a day. The date could be listed for weeks, or just hours. It's totally random (at least to the non-DCL person)

Not to change the subject abruptly, but any idea how many formal nights there will be? and i can't remember, do you have to be formal or can i wear dressy slacks? do people care if you wear the same thing over and over?

i'm facinated by those who want to get off the ship and get their cars. presiume you are flying from la to fla and going home??

thanks for a fun and informative blog!!

We just returned from BTB-the TA and the continuing Mediterraneran- 25 days on the Magic and it was great. We did not have to change rooms but we did have to get off the ship and go into the terminal in Barcelona. We had to check out and then back in. When we went back on the ship it was eerie. It was like a ghost ship, The only place open was Cafe Cove.
We got to know a lot of the crew and enjoyed most of the shows- even the second time around.

I think there were 2 formal nights on our 2008 and 2 semi-formal. I don't think anyone cares if you wear the same again...they are several days apart. My Mom wore dressy slacks and changed the top she wore.

We are flying fromLA to Florida and having the car dropped off at the terminal will make it easier when when we get back.

New topic: Has anyone ever used Dreams Unlimited? I booked this cruise on the ship last time, but I know if you switch your reservation to a travel agent you get on board credit from them as well. So, I am trying to get a quote but I keep getting an error message. Has that ever happened to anyone else, or is it a "Mac" thing? I have a new Mac and it is forever blocking things I want to do (this could be why they don't crash like PCs).

It might be your computer. I have never used them myself since I am a TA but I have met several people who have and they have enjoyed the extra OBC.

If you have access to another computer, you might want to try that.

I have a mini Mac and have had no problems getting thru to DU. Keep trying, I don't think it is a Mac thing. This is my first time booking with DU so I can't really give any advice yet.

In '05, there were 2 formal nights and 2 semiformal nights, with a plethora of themed nights.

That's nice that you were able to go back to your room. I guess because we were switching rooms, they didn't allow us to. Honestly, it wasn't too bad though. It was only a couple of hours and we were able to roam around everywhere else. I was able to get a lot of good pictures of the ship without anyone else in them. There were a couple of shots that i wanted and unless i took them at 2 in the morning, there was no way i was going to get them without other guests in them.

Starting your laundry was a great idea! Definitely don't have to worry about other people on the ship doing theirs

I would do a B2B again in a heartbeat...now if only i can talk my hubby into it...:)

I'll be on the Wonder for a 4 night this October 31. Do they 'trick or treat'? My DGS may come and that may be a deciding factor. I have been trying to get my DGSs to go for a couple of years but they just aren't ready to leave Mom and Dad. I would love to bring them on the PC, but there is not much chance of that!

I've used DU twice...once for 20 of us for a cruise last Nov and then this cruise. Merrie Thomas has been great to work with. Keep in mind everything is done by email so if you don't have a problem with that it's fine.

I believe when you transfer an existing reservation DU reviews it and will determine whether you get the full OBC or a reduced amount before the transfer is made. From what I understand DCL doesn't give DU the full commission on transferred reservations. This way you can decide if you still want to make the transfer to DU.

I love that word, plethora. Course I would have said miriad. Anyway. Decision has been made. It is offical we are no longer crossing the Atlantic. We will be doing back to back sailings. 10/14 and 10/17. We got the same cabin for both so that's good.
