From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

I am a newbie, never been on DCL. My original cruise was scheduled for 5/30/10 double dip. I was so excited I made a bunch of stuff for FE's, fabric banner, etc. When I had to drop out I sent it to a prominent member of the DIS meet. He also had to drop out. A couple of weeks ago I got a PM from someone on the cruise who received my banner and goodies. She was so thankful and graciously asked if I would make 6 more goodies so she could give them as FE gifts. I made them for free (she wanted to pay, I wouldnt let her, not even postage). Today I received my very 1st FE gift and I havent even been on a cruise yet. She was kind enough to send me one of her FE gifts and said she felt I was an honorary member of their cruise. All I asked for was a pic of her DIS group with my banner. I loved her FE. She is from Louisiana so I got beads, a bookmark and some sheriff's dept stuff. I have family members in law enforcement so every thing was extra special. I have some fond Mardi Gras bead moments too. My 1st Mardi Gras I fought for beads. Didnt go to Bourbon Street cause I'm a Disney girl not a "show me your ??? girl". So I was so tickled and thrilled to receive a FE today!!! Gosh, I cant wait for our cruise. They only had 15 people in the FE exchange. I have already made 100 FE's for our cruise so I hope they will participate. If not you'll probably get something from me anyway. Oh well, I just wanted to share my pixie dust moment with you.

DCLtravler - your Samson picture is too cute! Last year I gave a brittany puppy to our DGS and she's been the calmest one I've ever seen. Those two are best buds.

Tell me about it!!!! I always tell people who have never been on DCL thatit can be as much Disney or as little Disney as you want it to be. I don't think they believe me.

It certainly isn't 'in your face' Disney is it? We have friends who have only cruised on the Queen Mary 2, and only once, but just think we must be completely crackers, and even though they are still our friends, I think the female thinks we are a bit 'common' for sailing Disney!!! I love her to bits!!!

See I think people are bonkers for going on a ship that devides people by class. That's why the world goes round, right?

In understand that. Funny thing is I never even thought about that as far as Cunard goes. I just look at it as what you can afford, or want to afford, just like when flying, or even on DCL to a much lesser degree of course. It isn't a problem to me, though there are probably more snooty people on Cunard to be sure!!! That does put John off sailing with them but we would do Transatlantic with them any day!!

No, I really hardly EVER watch tv, but I do like stuff like that, I mis ER big time, never missed an episode.

Me too Alan, even if I was mega rich and in top class, I think thats worse than bottom class, makes me feel uncomfy, the once I sat in first class on an airline, I didnt care for it much either, tbh, made me feel uncomfy, I know its silly but thats just the way I am.

In the midst of the May Madness, DH decided to do a good deed at church and ended up crashing off 10' ladder -- he has broken/fractured the bone in his heel on his left foot and gashed up both hands & arms from the shattered glass of the artwork! He's completely down & out for the count...when he gets better I'm going to bop him upside his head (thinking heavy duty Gibbs-slap)!!!

For all of those in the medical fields -- my appreciation & thanks! You are truly blessed with a gift!!

So glad your DH was okay! Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

And Tammy, love the birthday photos. What a lucky little boy!!!!

As far as shows go, I really only watch 2 - The Biggest Loser and Parenthood. Both have season finales next week and I'll be out of town. I will DVR them but really hoping I can catch them at my mom's.

I also watch sports but not enjoying the NBA season. Sorry Alan, I know you are a Lakers but they have to be my least favorite team of any sport. I know they're good. In fact, they're great and will probably win the NBA finals, but when they beat your teams over and over and over, hatred just continues to grow. I am a Mavs fan. Grew up in Dallas and always will be a fan. The Lakers beat us SO many times. Then, when Nash went to the Suns, I followed him there. Well, need I saw more my I don't like the Lakers . I was hoping for a good series. Looks like it could be 4 and out for the Suns. After they swept the Spurs, I had hope. The hope is fading. However, I remember when the Mavs were up 2-0 against the Heat in the finals. 4 games later, the Heat had won the finals. I have been let down so many times as a sports fan. The Cowboys have been the ONLY team that has won a championship and that has been a LONG time.

Well, I'm leaving for Dallas tomorrow for a week. We're visiting some good friends, our parents, and my sister who is in the hospital till she delivers. She is due June 22 but they have scheduled an induction for June 8 because she has toxemia. I'll be going back for her delivery and just really excited about the birth of my second nephew. When her first child was born, I was very preggo with my son and therefore never got involved. I love her other little boy too, but I'm just really excited about the birth of her new little guy.

I'm with you Carmen about not wanting the Lakers to win, but it is for pure selfish reasons. You see, some of the fans out here are not very nice, and they look for any reasons to cause trouble. So they scheduled Randy to work the day of our DD's high school graduation (even though he requested it off) because of that. But if the Lakers don't win, he will be able to take that day off. So I will be rooting for whoever they are up against. Just don't tell Randy!!

I think there's a difference. First class seats on airlines are the only ones designed for actual human beings (as compared to sardines). I'm 6'2 and I'd love to be able to afford to fly first class. I'll put up with the awkwardness of being "elite" for a few extra inches of legroom any day.
