From the Sea to the World - Completed!

That was a very nice, long update!

The Flower & Garden Festival looks really beautiful, I guess May ist a good time to got to WDW.....

I'm so glad Biergarten did not dissapoint! Actually the cheese soup is a tipical dish someone would cook for a party, so I think it kind of fits very well.

What is the litte white or yellow ball next to the Pretzelroll? First I thought it was whit chocolate candy, but then maybe it is only butter.

And I didn't know you like beets!!!! Only pickled ones?

That HAS to be the best dining review I have ever read! How wonderful to know that you found the food authentic! That really means alot to me. :) Biergarten was my first EVER Epcot t/s restaurant- when we were in our 20's and Pods and I were dating. It was not a buffet back then. But it did have the same entertainment- so fun!

I do hope that one day when I make it to Germany you will tell me where to find the best pretzel rolls- someday..... :)

Trying to squeeze in a little DIS time.

You got some fantastic nighttime pics at DHS. :thumbsup2 I have been to WDW both at New Years and July 4th over the years. I always opt for the fireworks at DHS on both occasions. They are really good fireworks displays, and even though there are rather big crowds, at least DHS isn't as maddeningly :crowded: and crazy as MK and Epcot on those days. I guess I need to work in a trip sometime around all the Star Wars events since I am also a big fan. :yoda: :darth: :chewy:

Great review of Biergarten! I haven't ever eaten there but your review has me moving it up my list for a future trip. I always wondered if I would find enough there I liked to make it worthwhile, but I saw quite a few items on your plates that looked really good! Glad to hear that most of them earned the Magdalene "Authentic German" Seal of Approval! ::yes::

Congrats on the new place! Hope it is starting to feel like home and everything is getting all settled. :goodvibes

Wonderful report on Biergarten. I have been there 3 times and really enjoyed it , but had no idea if the food was authentic , I just knew that it was good . They have a poast pork they carve and that was wonderful.Carol had some german decent in her and was raised on many german foods and she went to town in there !!!!

Glad you and Carol enjoyed it there as well!

Love the Floer Fest pix !! I have been twice for it and just loved it !!The very first Disney Trip was during it and we were very impressed .

What a first impression that must have been! My first visit to Epcot was during food and wine - and I did not like it as it all just seemed very chaotic.

Loved all the photos

I am so happy that I could give you a hint about quark. I know that there must be something similar in the US, lovalldisney who is from Wisconsin posted about a local dairy product once which seemed to very similar to quark. I forgot what it was called though...

Cynthia will be very happy that you were enjoying coffee on the verandah.

I was thinking of her every time i had some coffee on the balcony! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Not a very magical experience, I'm sure.

Here in Germany it is considered to be a sign of good luck if a bird does its business on you - so maybe it is magical? But I guess not the type of magic the average Disney visitor seeks...

Mmmmm...can't go wrong with pie.

:thumbsup2

Me too! I remember being disappointed when I saw that Disney didn't keep it like this all year round!

I wish they would do a little bit more to Epcot year round. Looking at old pictures, it seems much more well groomed in the 80s on a regular basis than it is now.

Future Dole Whips!

Oh, the poor little pineapples!! Do you shout out "future steaks" when you see a cow????????? ;)

Thanks for the detailed review of Biergarten! It's great to know that they get enough things right to satisfy a German visitor! I have never tried this place, but I think I'm going to have to go.

I can really recommend it! I know that you are happy with simpler dishes and while some of the stuff might appear a bit outlandish, it really is rathe basic home cooking, just in disguise! And if everything fails, you just need to eat apple strudel until you are full!

I just sat here for a "Magdalene-fest" and got all caught up! And what a perfect time to do so -- to catch your review of Biergarten. I am really glad to hear that it was a hit in the authenticity department! :thumbsup2 I really wasn't sure that it was. I knew that we liked it, but wasn't sure how "true" it was to real authentic German cuisine.

I'm also glad that you enjoyed your cruise so much (yes, I had to go waaaay back to catch the end of the cruise ), and that you were able to catch some fireworks at DHS. It really sounds like it's been a wonderful trip.

Great to see you here! I am not good at keeping up to date with other people's reports either - I need to do a "Captain-fest" one of these days and a "Glen-fest"...

Your reports about Biergarten were what got me interested in the first place. And I am very glad that I went. It was really lots of good food there!!

Yes, I only like the pickled red beets! I once had them roasted - not good at all!! But I would be willing to try them again if necessary.

And I really think that May is quite a perfect time to go. The weather was really wonderful for us. It was generally nice and warm during the day without being oppressively hot and it was not humid. And some of the nights it did cool down so that I needed a jacket. Other nights were still really warm. Similar to our October trip, but a bit warmer. Of course, things can vary from year to year. I remember one year when everyone with a May trip came back from days and days of rain without end.

I agree on the cheese soup - but did you ever have a cheese soup? I don't have any memory of being served a cheese soup...

The little ball is indeed some butter, I thought I had mentioned that?

To be honest, I would prefer it if it were not a buffet. It's interesting that it has not always been one! I think I read once somewhere that some of the entertainers there have been working at Biergarten since the opening of Epcot in 1982. That's amazing!

And when you come to Germany I will most certainly help you to locate the best pretzel rolls!! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I am starting to feel very settled in the new place! There are still a million things to do of course, but most of the urgent things have been done!

I wonder whether Biergarten will see a significant increase in patrons thanks to my glowing review and approval! :thumbsup2 I am happy to hear that you are willing to try it! As I said to Mark, a lot of the dishes are far less exotic than you might first think!

It's interesting that you prefer the DHS fireworks shows. But I have heard really great things about them, too. And I can understand the crowd argument very well! I really need to get myself to WDW at some point for either of those dates to see the spectacular displays!

Love your review of the Biergarten! It is one of DH and my favorite places there. We have a tentative plan to go back in 2014 sometime and I really want to try all new places, but we will most likely have one repeat-- I don't think we could be there and not go. Glad to hear it is mostly authentic.

I've never heard of that, maybe our Dad told you, when we were little - before we found out we shouldn't believe everything he tells us?

Hail, hail, the gang's all here...! Iiiiiiiii'm baaaaaa-aaaaaack. :) Taking it slow and easy, and only subscribing for now on yours and Glenn's. We'll see how it goes.....

I've missed this place and all the lovely people!

By Air to the Sea:

Lovely chapter! The only other airline that serves as nice a spread (liquor and food) is your very own Lufthansa. :D

Welcome to the US!

Chapter 2:

Yay for a chauffeur! How awesome is that?! I don't like Cool Whip; the real thing is so much more amazing. Your view was fabulous! Wow! I know exactly how tired you were.... ;)

I had wanted a new screen name for such a long time! Now seemed like a great time to make the switch! :)

Olives or Grapes

I still think we'd travel well together. Because that's my kind of morning right there! Coffee, pooltime, out-of-the-ordinary breakfasts, and unidentifiable tidbits while lounging.
Pineapple mojitos sound amazing! Especially around a tropical pool.... if I close my eyes hard enough, just maybe. ;)

If that's "magic", I'll stick with an everyday existence. :crazy2:

Oh, the poor little pineapples!! Do you shout out "future steaks" when you see a cow????????? ;)

Well, sure. Doesn't everyone? :rotfl2:

I could eat a TON of apple strudel! :thumbsup2

::yes:: :rolleyes1

The next chapter after Olives or Grapes (but I can't remember the name of):

Outlet Malls... meh. Shopping just isn't my thing, but I do love that little box. That was one of my favorite rides as a small child.

Funny, we had Arby's for the first time in about 15 years the other day. Good choice!

Steak- we have that more often. A lot more often. Yum!

Water Chapter:

It's so weird how the East Coast (particularly the Southern East coast) is so very different from the majority of the West Coast. Ours is very rocky and rugged and wild comparitively. Pretty in a very different way. Come visit sometime!!!!!

Your 5 Guys looked good, but I"m afraid I can never go back. Last time I was there I got a long, icky hair in mine and I nearly threw up. In fact, I'm just not a big fan of burgers in general anymore. That was about 6 years ago. :( Their fries are definitely perfect though... thick cut and so fresh! :thumbsup2

Hope you're enjoying Paris!!!

When is your next trip again? Any plans to finish this report before you go? And what about some DLP pictures?
