From the Med to the Panama Canal

Hi guys! Yes, I've looked at this option. Unfortunately, most of my friends don't share my love of Disney:rolleyes1. I even tried to talk my parents into going - can you say panicked look at the thought of spending two weeks on ship with Mickey Mouse:rotfl2: . I know, I know, I've tried to explain/ show them how wrong they are, but to no avail...

I am so glad that so many of you guys are still going. Makes me want to go that much more since it really was the "people" that made the TA trip:grouphug: .

I still lurk occasionally on this thread and I will definitely be back if they run some super deals like last time. :thumbsup2

I will put my feelers out for you and see what comes up. How old is DD?

I'm still here even though I'm not going. I would go with Anna, except for all of Katey's grad stuff.

Are prices really dropping? I thought they were going up. The ship is full, isn't it? It seems like they could keep prices steady with a full ship. I hope for Anna's sake they drop after the balances are due and people drop out.

We don't know about prices dropping, but a lot of cabins have opened up in the past 2 weeks. After the 10th it's going to be interesting.

I've been checking cat 12 prices since they started opening up again. We are in a cat 7 and I was looking on downgrading to make the cruise more affordable. I believe when I first started checking they were higher than they are now, but I could be wrong. I won't be surprised if they come down after this week though. I suspect they will get a lot of last minute cancellations.

It seems I had a cat 11 for one of my roomsthat was inthe 4K range, but when I checked recently 12's were in the 5k range, for 2 adults. I think it's a popular cruise and will sell well. They couldn't fill the boat for the TA and I suspect that's why it was a steal. I hope the August cruise has openings in May. I really want to experience the canal with Disney.

I just phoned DCL and got our 28 year old son, Mike a cat 12 GTY stateroom! Yeah, the price is much more than the TransAtlantic last year, but he really wants to go, so it's worth it!

Since he's going, Chuck and I can make ressies for Palo:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

:woohoo: :woohoo: Yea! I am so glad you were able to get DS a cabin! I saw the cat 12's coming up and thought of you.

As for pricing... You are right. It is definitely higher than it was on the first day. I have a cat 11 for just over 3k for the 2 of us (1A, 1 DD4). The pricing this morning on the cat 12's is just under 5k. The TA was definitely a steal - $2k for 4! I don't expect it to be that low ever again. But I'd be happy with $2k for 2....:rolleyes1 Do you think I could get DCL on priceline?:rotfl2:

Hi Ann, You guys from the UK are getting a darn good rate for this cruise aren't you? Ann, I know we briefly met on the repo, but I don't think I met your husband. Are you coming over early to go to WDW?

We arrive on Wednesday 8th but as our AP have run out we don't have any plans to visit the parks unless there is a Pirate & Princess Party. We will get our fix at the end of the cruise with 4 nights at the Grand Californian and our first visit to Disneyland.

We got a really good exchange rate for this cruise and have paid the same in Pounds for a Cat 5 as we did for a Cat 7 on the TA.

Ann

I think there is one on Thurs or Fri night. A group from the other site are going.

What is a pirate/princess party? Can someone give me details? It sounds interesting....

Just got back from a hellish doctor appt with Kenzie. :sad1: Came home with breathing equipment for her so hopefully tonight will be a better night of rest....Flyboy returns tonight to 2 sick girls, he is going to love this.....:lmao:

so sorry to hear that the girls are sick. not fun at all:scared1:

Ann, we are locals 15 min. from DL, so we'll be happy to help you with your planning. Actually there are several Californians on this little thread who are experts.

Yeah, Gydell, what is the the pirate princess party?

Karen, oooooo don't send us any cooties on the computer.

Anna needs a military discount (like we got last year) or CM discount (I'm thinking you go get a job at DL.)

Become a pirate or a princess in the place where dreams come true! Grab your adventure map and treasure pouch as you embark on a quest for treasure through Magic Kingdom® Park. Immerse yourself in pirate coves and princess courts. Be dazzled by Disney's Enchanted Adventures Parade. Experience the Magic, Music and Mayhem fireworks spectacular. If you wish, you can even come to the party dressed in your favorite pirate or princess costume*!

All of this, plus use of some of the most popular Magic Kingdom® attractions, will provide you with a night of adventure to remember and "treasure" forever.

I am at the port the night before the cruise so I know nothing about this first hand. I'm sure some on the other site know all about it.

It's official - We're out:sad1: . I cancelled this morning. Have an absolutely fabulous time everyone!!! I just keep telling myself that DCL is going to have to go through the PC at least one more time when they bring a ship permanently to the West Coast.:yay:

somehow I think it is only mostly official... we'll see what happens closer to the cruise.

I hope your right though. It guess it's only official when the ship blows her horn and I'm not on her!:thumbsup2

Interestingly, I have not seen my cat. 11 (or anything for that matter) show up on DCL's website today.

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself as I just signed up to this board.
This will be the third time that my sons and I have sailed on the magic. First was on the last west coast visit, then the Eastbound TA, and now we are looking forward to the Westbound PC trip. I just put down the final payment today so I am now starting to plan the trip for real! What will make this trip much more memorable will be that my sons and I will be doing it without any other family members on board this time and without a girlfriend in tow. I paid for the GF's TA trip and when she got back, she could not take living with my sons anymore and split. (her loss) I guess I will just have to explore the "singles" lunches this time on board. Both my sons are moderate to severely developmentally delayed and have autism. Those on the EB TA may remember them as the two biggest kids (now 23 & 21) in the Oceaneer Lab running around with the 12year olds and having a blast. With luck the captain will allow them to join the other kids again and I can have some time to relax too. If not, then we will be doing a lot of walking while at sea. If anyone hears that they are dropping the "3rd in the room" price like they did on the TA, please let me know.

Look forward to meeting everyone, hopefully before the sailing date, but if not then on board.

Steve
