From Oil Wells to Jingle Bells-Bells,pg.66, See you in September!

My friends made the sacrifice for me in there along with a little bottle and it was time to use our fastpass for Soarin'.

I originally took this picture from Soarin' and I was going to try to pass it off as coming from behind the Canada pavillion where the waterfall is back there.
Just to see if everybody was paying attention but I know someone is going to believe it and never read the joke/expanation so I passed on it.

FrigidNovember242.jpg

The first timers maybe would have bought it, but not the veterans.

Which brings us once agiain to,,,,,,,,,

"Catch the hidden Mickey"

Are you ready?
This time we are going to get it.
It will be right on the side of the golf ball.
Look closely and you'll see it.

FrigidNovember243.jpg

There, right,,,,,,,, THERE!

?

Ok, I know, I missed it again.

I see it. It is right there.:magnify: Don't you see it? Oh wait, that's right; you can't really see at the moment. :rotfl:

Since you learned how to use the video on your camera, next time you go, take video of this part. Then when you get home, you can play the video and pause it at the precise moment. I bet you'll see it this way. :thumbsup2

This is what we call the Epcot Charge, I used to be good at this but now I'm just a shell of my former self.

Mrs. T and I don't partake in the running of the bulls. We usually just stand aside, finish our last beer and take our time leaving. Crowds clear out and this is when I can take some better pictures.

Diane was, and is, the best!

She's fast, great 0 to 20 speed with excellent lateral movements and great field of vision. She's also hard to bring down.

If we have a NFL season this coming year, maybe the Bears could pick her up as an undrafted free agent. Then they might be able to make it back to the Super Bowl.

This guy was moving along at a fast rate right along the small curb, when suddenly he just collapsed.

He did not appear to trip, or stumble, but it was the way he fell that bothered me.
He didn't try to catch himself, not at all

Normally, you might twist your body, maybe jump to the side a bit, anything to lessen your fall.
But most of all, you will throw your arms out, palms ready to meet the ground first to break the fall, this is why many people actually end up with sprained or broken wrists from a fall.

This guy did none of the above.
He just went down, and went down HARD!

He landed on his side, and I could see his head bounce off the concrete a bit at the end.

I have to admit,,,,,, I hate to admit,,,,, my first thought was that he was WAY overserved, especially sometimes when it's really cold out it can hit you when you first go back outside into the cold.

But that didn't make any sense now, he was obviously in the bus stop charge for a while now.
Yes, amazing how many thoughts can pop into your head in 2 seconds, but what happened when he went down was;

Smidgy saw it and immediately took off running back the other way looking for a cast member;

I hurried over to him which was only a few feet away and pulled down his jacket a bit that seemed bunched up around his neck and started asking him if he's allright.

Almost immediately too, from behind we heard,
"Oh my God, Henry?" and a woman ran over.

She also did the "Henry, are you allright?", but she was standing to the side doing this while I was leaning over him.
But what bothered me the most was that I didn't think he was ok,,,, matter of fact,,,, I wasn't seeing him breathe!

Lying on his back with his eyes closed I could see he was white, clean shaven and somewhere in his thirties, next to whom I'm assuming was his wife stood two little kids now starting to cry.

I was staring at him really hard to look for a sign of him breathing and leaning over closer and closer because I'm not seeing any thing.

His wife than said to me that earlier in the day he had tripped and hit his head, since then he's been dizzy occasionally.

Uh oh,,, uh oh was all I was thinking, he probably had a concussion earlier today and hasn't taken it easy at all, all day.

Just then he gave a little "gasp" and his eyelids fluttered a bit and I realized I hadn't been breathing either until then.

His eyes opened and I could tell just how wrong my first guess was on why he fell down and I felt even worse as I helped him to a sitting position.

Just then, Smidgy returned with a cast member who already was calling for an ambulance on her walkie talkie.

We were'nt sure what to do and more cast members were showing up and trying to get rid of the crowd so we reluctantly left.

It was a kind of quiet ride back, but I knew, that family was spending the night in the hospital, maybe more and I just felt terrible knowing their trip has come to an end, no matter how well it turns out.

At the resort we waited until just about closing at the food court before we got anything and I used a counter service on the chicken parmisagna but our hearts weren't really in it.
Some things take awhile to shake off.

With that I'll say that we don't know how things turned out for Henry and his family, all I can assume and hope for is that all worked out ok and that's the way my mind is going to remember the whole situation.

Not much to say here, but to give each of a thumbs up :thumbsup2 for stopping and helping out. Most people would've just continued on their merry way because they're in such a hurry to be the first on the busses. As we've read many times, it's all about the ME attitude. So who knows if anyone would've stopped had you and Smidgy not stopped to help. Even though I don't know you personally, through your stories, I feel like we've been friends a long time. I can tell you're truly amazing people. :grouphug:

But we still have one full day left on this trip, so come back and join us at Animal Kingdom, won't you? :cheer2:

I'm back. It's tomorrow and we're all waiting. :rolleyes1

Asking my opinion is the LOGICAL decision, I am honest, trustworthy and knowledgable,,,and if I don't know, I'm proud to make something up.

for example,, if you stay at Riverside, in the bayou section, this can be your view first thing in the morning on hyour stroll to the food court.
And it's even prettier in person.

10-03-2007-13-1.jpg

I don't want you to make stuff up. I would expect you to go and ask the great and powerful OZ (aka: Smidgy). If she don't know, then you can make stuff up. I'll admit that is a beautiful view though. Hopefully DW and I can stay on-site soon. My vehicle gets paid off next year, so we'll see what I can come up with.

Technically Smidgy would be consider the Great and Wonderful Princess Ozma of Oz princess:, who is the real ruler of the Emerald City...As in the original book, the Wizard of Oz himself was considered a Humbug wizard :wizard:. So if you wanted the Wizards opinion, I guess you could ask Nebo :rolleyes1

Sorry, I've been reading the entire collection of The Wizard of Oz stories from L. Frank Baum...I'll return you to your regularly scheduled program now.

On a side note...i agree full heartedly with DH (AKA: Mr. Thumper_Man) about you and Smidgy being amazing people. We don't have to know you in real life to know that much. :grouphug:

Poor Henry! At least you and Smidgy worked together to get him some help.:goodvibes

Poor Henry... and poor you and Smidgy for having to witness that. But bless you for offering your help. Not that I didn't know this already but you two are just plain good people.

Uh uh, nope. What we did was something that amouned to nothing, DIane did more good than I did by getting help fast.

believe me, I have no problem accepting credit if I do good, but I'm no doctor, the best I can say I did was to keep him from being trampled.

The photo of POR is fab-u-lous. Makes me even more excited! The weather here has been a high of about 73 every day for several weeks, and looks like the weather in Orlando is just a bit warmer at a high of 78-80.

Can NOT wait!! There will be a lot of Spring Breakers as it is our counties Spring Break. I will probably do a short survey of my students to see how many of them will be going to the world. I bet it is a few!

Just a couple more pics from Riverside:

Ok, one more of the quiet pool in the Mansions:

AHhaahaaha,, led you right into that one, I know, now you'll never enjoy that pool without screaming first!

I'll wash it away with a Bayour quiet pool pic:

Just out of curiosity, have you and Smidgy ever caught the Bob Jackson show?

I don't think we have, we saw the performer in the River Roost back in '94 and he was really good,, and funny too but the last times we stayed there our schedule didn't line up with his performances.

Hey Nebo.. it's been a while since I have been on here.. seems life keeps getting in the way of time spent on the DIS. Darn it!!!

I have a couple of pictures JUST like this.. that was a most amazing tree... The stills i took don't do it justice because of the blinking/strobing lights in it too.. I ended up taking a couple of videos just so i would remember how awesome it was.. of course i did the same for Ozzy's light show too.. Funny though, i look at those videos now, and it still just doesn't seem to feel the same as being in that big throng of people and being completely awed by the spectacle (hey they should name it the Spectacle of Lights).. wait i think they did.. darn stole my idea!!! LOL

My hopes are that Henry had a speedy recovery and he and his family were able to resume their magical visit.. Great that you stopped to try and help (not that i woud have expected any different from you and Smidgy.. makes me wonder how many people just looked over and kept on walking..

Anyway, i'm back and trying to catch up.. Wishing were back there right now.. I think another christmas time trip is definitely needed!! :cool1:

Hi Frank, welcom back again. I have a better idea on your last line: "I think another HOT SEPTEMBER trip is needed! Yeah, that works just fine for me" and I tell myself that henry and his problems all worked out just fine, maybe Disney even comped them a couple of nights! Yeah, that's what happened.

I was down there 2 years ago at this time and stayed at POR. We absolutely loved it there! DH and I saw Bob Jackson our last night there, he is fantastic! Family friendly too :thumbsup2. You can find videos of his show on YouTube. Hmm, that reminds me, I got DH a CD of Bob Jackson for Christmas, wonder where he put it? :

Moosemama? "And just where have you been young lady?" Do you know what it's like to wait up night after night wondering where you are?" :happytv:

So, I take it you like Bob also?

You actually were kinda funny. :rotfl:

You guys were super cool and if we didn't have relations to be had at the guest building, you'd have probably gotten tired of us following you around all night.

Hi Purp, I take it you didn't see anything of the Henry incident when you went back to Pop? This was right after Illuminations.
It realy was cool meeting the two of you, wish we could have spent more time together.

Oooh, I like that one. I usually stick to the tried and true, "Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow." But I like yours better.

My alternative line was, "Put it off till tomorrow, you've done enough damage for one day!"

Used to watch it. But even with JLo and Tyler, it's jumped the shark for me.(and yes, I actually did see the original jump the shark episode of Happy Days.)

I watched the Fonz jump the shark too, I think the new and improved way of saying the same thing now is "Jump The Couch" as in Tom Cruise on Oprah.

Nothing worse than a laundry quandry. ::yes::

Doesn't that seem like it should rhyme better?

It's the little things that amuse you, isn't it.

always

I'm picturing a rather pooh sized person in classic Tourist with a capital "T" outfit on the right and somebody like Jimmy Walker (Dyn-o-mite!) in CM clothing on the left.

This was a definitive "You really had to be there" for this. After I followed the directions I never expected the effect seeing the two of these doors side by side would have on me. The doors just jumped out at me Iwas so surprised, and I think I scared the woman passing by behind me when I suddently hyena laughed looking at the doors.

Maybe you could be the new turtle in Turtle Talk!

As for the Henry episode, I'll be brief. I can see by your post that it affected you. Very good of you two to offer assistance. But I'm not surprised at your reactions. You both seem like very decent people and I wouldn't be posting here if I thought otherwise.

You betcha! :goodvibes

Atta way PecanPonzi, great post.

You're right! If we can't be opinionated on your TR, then who's can we be? BTW, it's after midnight now which makes the tomorrow you mention, today. So where's the update? Sheesh! :goodvibes

( man I really got to get some sleep... 8 more hours... 8 more hours... 8 more hours... )

Trip report tomorrows are not necessarilly,,,neccesarilly,,,,dang I hate that word, is there a spell check here? the tomorrows in reality.
something like that

The first timers maybe would have bought it, but not the veterans.

I see it. It is right there.:magnify: Don't you see it? Oh wait, that's right; you can't really see at the moment. :rotfl:

Wouldn''t you have thought that I would have thought of doing that myself when I was there? by the time I did it was too late to reset the camera in the dark

Mrs. T and I don't partake in the running of the bulls. We usually just stand aside, finish our last beer and take our time leaving. Crowds clear out and this is when I can take some better pictures.

Well, yeah, if you're not stahying on site there aren't really any bulls to run with, unless it's maybe Boozer, Rose and Deng.

If we have a NFL season this coming year, maybe the Bears could pick her up as an undrafted free agent. Then they might be able to make it back to the Super Bowl.

Nah, won't happen, not since she tested postive for Pixie Dust!

Not much to say here, but to give each of a thumbs up :thumbsup2 for stopping and helping out. It really is cool sometimes to not have to worry at all about driving, bring the Sunny D's, little bottles, whatever you want,,,, and yes, the bus ride is part of teh experience,,,,,gotta do that too at least a couple of times....... I think you'd also like Riverside a lot,,it's really just the microwave you'll really miss from a studio type place.

Technically Smidgy would be consider the Great and Wonderful Princess Ozma of Oz princess:, who is the real ruler of the Emerald City...As in the original book, the Wizard of Oz himself was considered a Humbug wizard :wizard:. So if you wanted the Wizards opinion, I guess you could ask Nebo :rolleyes1

hmm, not quite really sure, but I think I have just been dissed!

:grouphug:

We really both appreciate that coming from a couple of Wildcats, but again,,,,, it wasn't like she or I went out of our way to help Henry,,,,I'm sure anybody would have done the little we did, we just happened to be first.

Sorry, Nebo, work, school and family has left me little time for the DIS since the new year, until I broke my ankle two weeks ago :sad2: Now I'm getting caught up on homework and the DIS while I spend most of my days on the couch.

And yes, DH and I loved Bob Jackson  I highly suggest looking for his videos on YouTube. He's a great performer and keeps things family friendly. We have a friend that goes to Disney almost every year and has seen Bob many times. He swears that Bob remembers him from year to year.

Boy, that hasn't happened in a while,,,, just lost everything when my typing got sloppy by the Shift and Caps Lock keys. But I'm ok, I don't really want to pitch the computer through the window, that would just complicate things further.

And probably land on the Santa Fe when she pulled in after work tonight.

Here's the deal, I do sometimes like to stray from the beaten path of of "then we did Test Track and then we did Spaceship Earth", and talk a bit more on actual thoughts, that, even though driven by Disney, are still the proprietorship of this lone, feeble mind.

I have the feeling when I"m done here you wil either find me with behavior disorders, or normal, or someone you are glad doesn't live in your state.

I am honest though, and this, and thems, are some of the things I have noticed concerning Disney trips.

Probably the biggest thing is;
I don't care if you are staying at the Poly for 10 days with the hopper passes and water parks joined by free dining the whole time,,,,, if there is something bothering you in real life,,,, personal, work, whatever,,,,,, it will be the defining and prevalent mood for most of the entire trip.

Or you can stay at Sports with a parking lot view and be so broke you're lucky to get a hot dog at Casey's and have the best trip of your life!

Where and why am I going here?
I'l tell you.

(Yay)
sorry Ponz, couldn't wait.

As you can tell, this current December trip was hardly one of my favorites,,,,, what with the cold, and the back problems,,,,and there is no hiding it,,,, when it comes to retelling it, these really aren't the best Disney memories I've had.

But I have to try to make them such, or who would want to read it?

You all know how much I like to make lists, but I AM going to stop short of rating the trip reports,,,,,, but man, what a difference between writing about the Oil's Well part of the trip compared to the Jingle Bells part.

Now, the things that can control and have the biggest influences on a person's mind stil cannot be explained.
They can, be totally irrational, without logic.

AS I am sure I am sounding now.

Ok.
In 2006, I finally quit reading other trip reports and finally ventured out on my own,,,,,,,If It's Tuesday, this must be Epcot.
by the way, my early trip writers that I read were Tiggerbell and Lexmelinda, Happyhaunt and zzub,,,,, thine i wanted to play mysel,,,, and it was pretty crappy, but I had a lot of fun.

It only went for 16 pages so I printed it out even and is fun to laugh at now and then.

Second report came almost immediately after, a free dining report from Pop....

It too was fun,,,,,but all the new restaurants made it interesting to write.

And this is the main thing I have learned by now,,,,,,
O M G , it is so much easier, and more fun, to write a report about a place you haven't been to before, or at least not beaten to death on previous reports.
Another reason why this report is so hard to make interesting.

My ideal report?
Oh boy,,,,,,, what a report I could write about a Loooooong road trip to Disneyland from Chicago,,,,,,,never been to Disnyeyland, it would be all new, maybe include a stop in Vegas, Carlsbad Caverns,,,,,,, Branson? Hoover dam? and on and on,,,,,,, but just having it be all new stuff would make it incredible to write about.

That would be my idea trip.

But let me tell you about a "past" weird, makes no sense, ideal trip I'm reading about.

In may of 2007, we went to Disney for the Flower and Garden Festival. This was the "Trip, to end all trips". But the strangest thing was the mindset we had that entire year.

Where Diane worked bartending was selling the business, more than likely she was losing her job after ten years there.

The company I worked for was about to have the bank close the doors on them permanently,,,,,, which did happen the end of August,,,,,,we didn't evey know that we were, and had been, out of health insurance at the time of May,,,,,but for some reason it didn't panic us. ]

We, I, she, had every expectation of getting newer, and possibley better, jobs in the near future.

This began the middle aged crazy time of Disney trips, starting with the May trip.

For some reason then, we just weren't worried.
It became a great trip, and even more importantly, a great trip to write about in a report.

By the way, I thought the first half of the current report, "The Deathly Oilwells, Part one" was pretty good.

Except for the Brazilians and the soccer groups causing crap,,,,, it was a good trip and I had new stuff to write about, Vero Beach, Beach Club Villas,,,,,,,and I even tried to make the Brazillians interesting,,,,,,though I can't say I enjoyed doing that.
This is where you really need stars like Turtle Lady, my new friends on the beach hurting themselves laughing watching me try to climb back up the sand hill,, or even crotch scratcher guy, those are the important people of a good trip report.

But this is what I've found out.

When it comes to reliving great vacations,,,,,,,pictures are teriffic,,,,,,terrific,,,,,terrriffic,,,,,,,GREAT!, but Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats reading and old trip report!

About two weeks ago, I started readin the May of 07 trip report,,,, this is one that lasted 7 months and I remember writing it so well cuz at that time at work,,,, it was mostly show up at work and you may get paid for some time spent there,,,,,it was really screwy with only 7 of us left out of 145, and, well, the end was no longer negotiable, we just kept hoping somebody with some money would either ride in and save us or buy us out cheaply,,,,,,,,,.

I spent most of my time at work either trying to help my "owner" out with stuff on his computer,,,,,, or doing call outs from work on some really crappy puters we had then.

But we weren't really scared, and that's when I started the trip report "Still Feeding Nebo".
I think it was one of the best,,, it certainly was a fun trip,,,, and it was a fun trip to do a report on,,,, not just from reliving it, but knowing the insanity with us will continue in September and actually get to meet a lot of the Dissers making me laugh on my report..

And this is exactly what I've been doing the last couple of weeks,,,, I'm only up to page 31,,,,, but I am having a blast reliving all the chapters,,,,,,, and especially,,,, all the comments and post you guys chipped in with.

Ponzi,,,,,,,, you were made for that trip report,,,, you would have had a blast!

What made it so good was that I had gotten better doing this stuff,,, it was also only my third report on Disney so not quite yet overdone,,,,,(overhard?)
but it was also including a lot from Universal, and including a new place to stay there for us, Hard Rock Hotel,,,, it had fights,,,,,,some cool first time stuff on the way down when we stayed in St. Augustine Beach and tried to take the car on the beach after 21 days without rain,,,,,,,and lot's of cool stuff at Disney....

I guess what I'm doing is, is telling any of you to click on this report if you just want to read and have a good time,,,,,,so yes, that's why I will sound pretty darn vein saying i'm reading my own stuff,,,,,, but oh man,,,,there has been enough going on in my/our/ lives lately,,,,,, that nothing, and I mean nothing, can bring these "Pop In" memories back so clearly,,,,,,,, what's really a shame is that the thread has been closed,,, for ages now,,,,,but I know a lot of you ,,,,Ponzi, Thumper, Bob,,,,,,,Kiersten,,,, would have had a field day with a lot of the chapters,,,,, ;heck, me too if I could have at it again so I guess I'm just giving Still Feeding Nebo a seal of approval if youve nothing to do and are just looking for some laughs.

How can a time when we both lose our jobs and careers in two months be a special time in our lives that we look back on with fond reverence?

Can't answer that.

But won't deny it , either.

Nebo,

Can we buy you a new keyboard? Methinks your coma (oops I mean comma) key is stuck.

I'll need to go back and read those old TR's when we get back (4 more sleeps!!!), but as a new reader of yours, I want you to know that you still keep it engaging. Heck, I've got most of the information I need from those "Unofficial" guys, so that's not what I want from the TR's. I read you for the color.

And thanks to fellow Canuck Ponzi for the extra laughs too. You two and Smidgy should go on the road. The Smidgy, Nebo and Ponzi show (yes Diane gets top billing; only fair, she has to live with you). Sounds like something that should air on Nick (or TVOkids in Canada).

BTW - in answer to your last question (probably some 30 pages back) about where we stay, we are TS owners, so always stay off-site. We usually stay at our unit at the Sheraton Vistana Resort (March break week), but also own a couple of float weeks at Silver Lake Resort over beside AK. Alisa and I love Disney, especially with the kids, but we also love discovering everything else that Orlando has to offer. We keep finding more fascinating stuff to do every time we go down. That's what keeps it fresh for us,,,,

Boy, that hasn't happened in a while,,,, just lost everything when my typing got sloppy by the Shift and Caps Lock keys. But I'm ok, I don't really want to pitch the computer through the window, that would just complicate things further.

Been there, screamed at that. Actually it was just as I'd finished a post on your thread. I stared uselessly (ya know, I just spell checked "uselessly" and it said it was right. Then I Googled it. Still right. But it just looks weird. To me it looks like it says 'use less-ly' def:an article or item that should not be used more... ish) at the screen for 5 minutes. Sighed. Started over. What are ya gonna do? :confused3

Here's the deal, I do sometimes like to stray from the beaten path of of "then we did Test Track and then we did Spaceship Earth", and talk a bit more on actual thoughts, that, even though driven by Disney, are still the proprietorship of this lone, feeble mind.

So you're waiting for a snarky comment here, aren't you? Nope. You may have "proprietorship of (a) feeble mind". But you are hardly "lone". Slide over and make room for me on the feeble minded bench will ya? :goodvibes

I have the feeling when I"m done here you wil either find me with behavior disorders, or normal,

Oh, no. I don't have to wait to find you with behavior disorders. That was decided a long, long time ago.

or someone you are glad doesn't live in your state.

Actually, I think it would be a hoot to have you as a neighbor. I can see two garages filled with tools and appliances that have been borrowed and will probably never be returned.

I don't care if you are staying at the Poly for 10 days with the hopper passes and water parks joined by free dining the whole time,,,,, if there is something bothering you in real life,,,, personal, work, whatever,,,,,, it will be the defining and prevalent mood for most of the entire trip.

::yes::

::yes:: ::yes::

Where and why am I going here?
I'l tell you.

sorry Ponz, couldn't wait.

Boo! Is there a stick out tongue smiley? This one looks too happy: :p Maybe this one: :crazy2:

As you can tell, this current December trip was hardly one of my favorites,,,,, what with the cold, and the back problems,,,,and there is no hiding it,,,, when it comes to retelling it, these really aren't the best Disney memories I've had.

Noticed that. But you're doing a bang up job on the TR! :goodvibes

They can, be totally irrational, without logic.

AS I am sure I am sounding now.

I was going to say something snarky here. But, you did it to yourself quite well, I think. :)

PM me when you write it... or maybe you won't want me to know about it! :joker: (it's starting to look like my goal in life is to use every smiley listed, doesn't it?)

By the way, I thought the first half of the current report, "The Deathly Oilwells, Part one" was pretty good.

:thumbsup2

Ponzi,,,,,,,, you were made for that trip report,,,, you would have had a blast!

Sorry, I missed it. But now I've got an excuse to go back and read it. :goodvibes

Nebo,

Just wanted to chime in and say that although they may be hard to write (you'd never know it, by the way), they are always enjoyable to read! I've been with you since "Honey, I Shrunk the Checkbook" (best title, IMO), but after reading that one, I went to read the rest of your reports and have been a fan ever since. I'm always so sad when you don't have a report going. I took a break from the DIS before our last trip and I think it coincided with the break in your trip reports!

I don't get to Disney as often as I'd like and probably won't be going again for a few years, so your reports are like visits in between trips for me. I enjoy the humor and the fun you and Smidgy find on your Disney trips.

And I know what you mean about the different feelings of trips. Our first trip with our boys was really great and our last trip, while I definitely enjoyed it, didn't have that same magical feel. The first one was a little more stressful - we went with my soon-to-be/now former SIL (we had planned the trip before she and my brother split up - thankfully we're still close) and being the first trip with kids we really didn't know what to expect. Maybe it's stress that fuels the need to let go when you're on vacation. Certainly sounds like you had plenty of stress leading up to the trip you're referring to.

Luckily, my kids felt the magic on both trips! My oldest cried when we left this year too (so cute - I always feel like crying when we leave too). During out first trip, his only meltdown occured when his cousin informed him that we would be going home the next day. It was so bad, two women in line with us saw me at the food court later and asked if he was okay!

So please keep writing Nebo! I need some laughter after a long day with two crazy hooligans.

Dude,

There's no shame in reliving old trips. I like to go back and look at the old pics and remember what it was like on that particular trip. Right now, I have the pictures from the past trip on a digital picture frame playing in my office. Good times! <sigh>

And thanks to fellow Canuck Ponzi for the extra laughs too. You two and Smidgy should go on the road. The Smidgy, Nebo and Ponzi show (yes Diane gets top billing; only fair, she has to live with you).

Nope. If the three of us went together, poor Smidgy'd be driven insane after the first five minutes. :crowded:

Nebo, "Aaaaaaaaaaaand, We're Off!!!"
pkondz, "our rockers?"
Nebo, "We rock!"
pkondz, "and we're rolling! Are we there yet?"
Nebo, "to see the Yeti! The wonderful Yeti of Everest!"
pkondz, "'cause we're off, we're off, we're off, we're off, we're off our wonderful rockers!"
Nebo, "Where's Smidgy?"
pkondz, "she threw herself out of the car about a mile back. Mumbled something about "preserving sanity"."

OMG pkondz, where did you find that smiley, and how long have you been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use to. :lmao:

I have watched WAY too much M*A*S*H, I read that and I was hearing Hawkeye and BJ in my mind. (Nebo had the voice of Hawkeye).

"Honey I Shrunk the Checkbook" is the first nebo trip report I read. It's been downhill ever since!:rotfl2: See how much of an influence you've had on me?

I'm really glad you've shared your trips with us; and your humor and good heart!:grouphug:

Sorry, Nebo, work, school and family has left me little time for the DIS since the new year, until I broke my ankle two weeks ago :sad2: Now I'm getting caught up on homework and the DIS while I spend most of my days on the couch.

And yes, DH and I loved Bob Jackson  I highly suggest looking for his videos on YouTube. He's a great performer and keeps things family friendly. We have a friend that goes to Disney almost every year and has seen Bob many times. He swears that Bob remembers him from year to year.

Hey! What did you do to your ankle? Hope your feeling better and remember, there is only one "I", in Vicodin,,,, the rest you send to me. I will have to look him up on Utube,,, we did like the guy we saw in 92 but can't for the life of me remember his name, but he was current events driven and also family friendly.

Nebo,

Can we buy you a new keyboard? Methinks your coma (oops I mean comma) key is stuck.

Sometimes I just can't pass up a good comma sale.

That's what keeps it fresh for us,,,,

that Silver Lake resort looks impressive from the outside, ,, and yuour reasons are part ot the reason I want to move there so badly.......that Flatland state of Florida has just so many things that would interest me that it would take me years just to experience them all just once. Heck,,,, I've heard there is a tube ride along a river up near Lake City that is just gorgeous,,,,, it goes for miles and miles and you just float down this river in a Typhoon Lagoon type tube only in real life circumstances,, it sounds amaziing!

:confused3

The thing about losing a post is that you always have to spend twenty minutes at least trying to find it first,,,,,,,yep,,, the hardest step is the "denial" stage.

Actually, I think it would be a hoot to have you as a neighbor. I can see two garages filled with tools and appliances that have been borrowed and will probably never be returned.

Sounds about right; I had a neighbor once who collected other people's lawn mowers.

PM me when you write it... or maybe you won't want me to know about it! :joker: (it's starting to look like my goal in life is to use every smiley listed, doesn't it?)

Pretty sure I mentioned this before, but I once spent two hours trying to do an entire chapter in all just smileys, I thought it would be just the most clever idea, people would come from far away lands to read the Nebo Smiley report, I'd be famous, then rich, appearances on Leno, Letterman, publishing contract, reality tv shows,,, "Dancing with Nebo",,, "American Geritol", "CSI: Crime scenes ignored........ after two hours of working on it, I finally finished a paragraph. A half hour later I gave up and decided to just post what I had and the heck with it.

Then I found out there's a limit of a combination of pictures, addresses,,,, and yes, smileys that has to be under a totoal of 25. Yep, 3 hours of my life right down the toilly.
As Bugs would have said,,,, "What a maroon!"

Sorry, I missed it. But now I've got an excuse to go back and read it. :goodvibes

I may just pick out a chapter at random and post it here since I'm pretending we're in summer rerun season right now. Meaning,,, haven't started the new chapter yet.

Nancy, what i need is new stuff,,, and I probably need to step back for a while and clear my head fo Disney,,,,,maybe that way I'll have the passion to do the September trip,,,,, we do have a little bit going for us,,,,, we have 6 days for a Jambo House stay, and even though we've eaten at the restaurants before, we have only stayed at the resort a total of 3 nights back in '02, our first trip back to Disney and what brought us back together again.

And, we have never stayed at the Contemporary, either long term or temporary. (sorry) or much less Bay Lake Towers. What really has me worried though now is that gas by me is now at 3. 65,,,,,,,, and rising.

Dude,

There's no shame in reliving old trips. I like to go back and look at the old pics and remember what it was like on that particular trip. Right now, I have the pictures from the past trip on a digital picture frame playing in my office. Good times! <sigh>

yeppers,,,,, got a card in a digital frame myself,,,,, but it just sits there. But when you write a report for 7 months or so,,,,there are bound to be stuff you haven't thought of in a long time,, and re-reading it is like,, having a picture come to life and fill in all the details that are just out of view of the camera's lens.

Nope. If the three of us went together, poor Smidgy'd be driven insane after the first five minutes. :crowded:

Nebo, "Aaaaaaaaaaaand, We're Off!!!"

Hey BankerRoss, I missed that smiley first time through, you're right, never saw that one before.

Ponzi,,,,, I thoguht that was terrific,,, made total sense to me and to the point that it seems like something I would have written, too, if our places were reversed which is starting to make me a tad nervous if I think of that too much!

"Honey I Shrunk the Checkbook" is the first nebo trip report I read. It's been downhill ever since!:rotfl2: See how much of an influence you've had on me?

I'm really glad you've shared your trips with us; and your humor and good heart!:grouphug:

Hi Rozz,,, howyadoon? See,,,, even she is going downhill and yet,,,, happy about it! This can't be good.

Ponzi, I believe you are right,,,,,,,Smidgy would bail out of the car before we hit the Smokies!

Heck,,,, I've heard there is a tube ride along a river up near Lake City that is just gorgeous,,,,, it goes for miles and miles and you just float down this river in a Typhoon Lagoon type tube only in real life circumstances,, it sounds amaziing![/COLOR]

Ichetucknee Springs State Park - I used to be a park ranger there about 30 years ago :goodvibes It is a beautiful area! Not sure how you would like that cold spring water (I get the distinct impression you are not that crazy about cold in FL), it stays about 72 degrees year round. If you go make sure you get a tube that keeps your bottom up out of the water :lmao: If you float the whole length it's about 6 miles.

Holy cow, Nebo, it was 2007 you went through the job mysery??? Seems like it was just yesterday :confused3

I think posting select chapters from previous reports is a FABULOUS idea! It would be the shame to let them rot in the Disboard halls and Ponzi could add his color commentary! You had so much great stuff.

That should get us through to you September trip at least, you have so much great material.

NEBOITES, how do you vote??????

Nancy, what i need is new stuff,,, and I probably need to step back for a while and clear my head fo Disney,,,,,maybe that way I'll have the passion to do the September trip,,,,, we do have a little bit going for us,,,,, we have 6 days for a Jambo House stay, and even though we've eaten at the restaurants before, we have only stayed at the resort a total of 3 nights back in '02, our first trip back to Disney and what brought us back together again.

Well guess you'd better stay at the "new" resorts then! By September I'll be in total desperation to go again (I do okay for about a year after my own trip). Aren't there some restaurants that you haven't tried yet...will the new Fantasy Land be unveiled by then...the new Animator's Inn MIGHT be open...plenty of new stuff, right, right?? ;) (I feel like my great-aunt Hazel, she always ended every sentence with the words "right, right??")

And the gas is unbelievable, even now. Can't imagine what it's going to be then. It's $3.46 at the CHEAP station in our town.

Mike Ditka once said , "Living in the past if for losers."
Maybe,,,, but I guess I had better not see you ever take a look at pictures of your wife or kids or grandkids.

So, if you feel like it, we are going to travel back in time tonight to May of 07, almost 4 years ago and no, I can't believe it's been that long either. I didn't pick this chapter out for any special reason or because I think it was that much better then the others,,,, maybe just because it's about Universal and I'd really like to go back and stay there someday soon and see Harry, like it appears a Canadian friend of ours is going to be doing in the very near future.

Anyway, hope you enjoy spending some time here at the Hard Rock Hotel Pool.

Trippet 7 ..You didn't really say that, did you?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know, I thought I had a little extra time when I got home, and so, decided to give Mischief a bath. She's the cat that sneaks out all the time.

It went better than I thought it would. She seemed to like it. I didn't mind it too much. No blood was drawn. Boy,
if it wasn't for all the fur stuck to my tongue,,,,

I had said I was going to be opinionated this chapter, and there are going to be enought Dis. Uni. comparisons made, to alienate almost all readers. It's sunday afternoon, and we bolted and went down to the pool. One more picture, only this is what it looks like either early, or late, in the day.

It really is a pretty cool looking pool, still have no idea whatsoever what these "gazing balls" are supposed to be but I'm not gonna argue with them.
05-30-2007-44.jpg

Only not now. It's about two in the afternoon, we just want to relax for a bit, and build up the "precautionary" suntan.
I hate having to wear "glop".
For protection.
From the sun.
Geesh

It was sort of crowded when we got down there, but , go ahead, try to find a couple lawn chairs together. The one side is a zero entry side, with a nice sandy beach. You know what?

I have about had my fill of "sandy" anythings after St. Augustine Beach.
I'm still finding sand in orifices I thought I had finished cleaning out.
So we were looking on the other side. Besides, why do I want to hang out where all the "zeros" hang out?

So now we have at least 200 people all disguised as towels!, and the make up was just great!

So many towels, so little chairs. Don't you just love it when folks leave for their room and just leave the towels on the chairs? You can't tell if any body is sitting there or not.
So , we finally found two together, sat down, and if on cue, a new tape, or CD, started. No wonder these seats were empty. Trust me, the Hard Rock really tries to live up to it's name, if not in song quality, then in volume.
The speakers were on a stand in the bush right behind us.

I love music. All kinds, cept opera. And this certain song by Madonna that Diane likes to sing at karaoke, Hanky Panky. But, I digress.

This soundtrack by the pool, is piped in everywhere on property. EVERYWHERE. Except in your rooms.
After 15 minutes by the pool, in front of these half blown out speakers, that are so loud as to be distorting, I was starting to lose my mind.

Na, hey, it's just me, I'm getting older)
(hell you are, it's just crappy songs, through crappy speakers

And as we're sitting there, I'm trying not to look at Diane. I know, If I make eye contact, she's going to complain about the speakers right behind us, and we'll be packing up , moving again to different chairs. So, I don't look to my left, where she's sitting.

I just sat there, looking around, listening to the pool ambiance, sucking it all in, and the comments that would come through during the quiet parts of the "pooltrack soundtrack."

(Timmy, we're over here, yes, see us? c'mon honey, kick your feet, that's it, "ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!" there you go, you got it, swim to mommy now, "MY SHARONA",,,,,,,

After awhile, I was starting to feel like I was on the verge of losing my mind again, but I really didn't want to go look for new chairs,,, then I guess Diane got tired of waiting for me to look at her, and smacked my arm
a good one.

She really wanted to tell me something, so I leaned over as far as I could and stared at her mouth, hoping to at least be able to read her lips a little over the music.

She was trying to get the words out fast enough before another song started, but she wasn't quick enough.
We both leaned over, and I could see her lips move, and that was the frightening part.
They seemed like they were right in sync with the next song, that was blasting in my ear.

The important message that she was trying to tell me, and the reason she grabbed my arm, was;

"I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight toker."

I looked at her in bewilderment, and thought I was losing my mind after all. After I did this to her , she leaned back again and gave up.

It wasn't really that hot out, wasn't even sure I was going in the pool.

Ah, some decisions are made FOR you.

After Steve Miller got done loving my peaches and shaking my trees, hmm, maybe it was Dianes, anyway, by now I am on a hair trigger.
HAIR TRIGGER!

And then it came on.
It!
Probably the worstest everest nastiest song ever made in the universe of bad song making.

I recognized the beginning, and within two notes, I was seen flailing my arms, and screaming on the way into the pool. And I couldn't beat the first line into the water.

"EVerybody was Kung Fu fighting."
Just before I hit the water, I saw there was six people right behind me.

I dive underneath.
"And it was fast as lightning"
" In fact it was a little bit frightening"

HUH? Oh CRAP! That's right, they have speakers under the water. I knew this, just forgot about it in my escape.

No, don't even think about "escape". " Do you like pina colada's?" "Getting caught in the ",,,,, Stop it! They'll play that next!!

Ok, honest, it's a lovely pool. At 8 in the morning.
Now that I'm wet, we went down the pool slide once. Have you ever seen a '69 Camaro with the hood scoop added on to get air to the carborateur? Well, that was my nose when I hit the water. For about 4 seconds, the entire pool went dry, until it all drained back out of my nose.
And it's a big pool!

Ok, wer're going to take a short break here, be right back.

Again, You Said what? trippet 7, verse nine, chapter 45, stage 3, highway 57,

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leaving the pool was wonderful. Don't get me wrong. I'm on vacation, and the driving part is done. At least for awhile. We are finally at our destination, and even though the pool area was less than "fulfilling" it was kind of funny though.

We laughed.
Ah hah hahha hhaa
Well, actually, that was Diane laughing.
Ah hah hahha hhaaa.

Ok, ok, it was me. I knew I spelled it wrong the second time. I have a stupid laugh.

Not Diane, though.
She has a very hearty, delicate laugh.

"Right?" "Snort?"

We find our way back to our room, only because the pool is the only real access this room has. As far as our room? um, well, I can't. Show you much I mean. Evidently, we had a really bad time with film this trip, I never had this problem before, but almost half of what we took, didn't come out.
Yes, all of you with digitals form a line on the right to lambast me. But I never had this problem before. The only thing I can figure, and if any of you can verify what I'm about to say, please, feel welcome to do so, Is that my film was too old. I had two throw away camera's, and my trusty Canon Shure shot.
Which turned into a Maybe shot.
Then a Your guess is as good as mine , shot.

The throw aways were bought last year, from a bargain bin. So, I'm guesssing they were old from "last year". And the multi pack of 800 film was also from last year. Same bargain bin. In retrospect, if it was old film discounted at that time,,, um , ok, you get the picture.

Oh, a funny. ha ha , get the pic,,,, ok, I'll shut up now.

So, let's do it the old fashioned way, I'll describe it. You know how good I am with words.
( we're doomed)

Hard Rock Hotel rooms are huge. Bigger than AKL or WL. Bigger than the Dolphin, if you have ever stayed there. Not as big as GF, though, or Portofino Bay at UNI. When you check in, there is a CD in the package, this is for use in your room CD player, which cranks up pretty loud. You also get a 32 inch plasma tv in your room, a wet bar, and these two, gigantic stuffed logs that were sitting on each bed.

Next to the bed is a table/lamp combination with a recliner next to it. This is where my shorts and suit went if they weren't too wet.
Across from the bed was the dresser, in the middle, tv on top, bar to the right, mini bar below that that you don't ever want to touch or they will claim rights to your first born if you take anything out of it, and , across from my bed by the window, just across from the recliner chair, that is HOME.
The table with two chairs, tons of brochures, pamphlets, advertisements, high speed cables, where we mostly sat.

And which is right next to a window that doesn't open, with a view of grass and some hedges.

We walked back in and it was freezing. I checked the thermostat on the wall, It said 75.

"YOUR DONKEY it's 75 in here."

My reality said it was about 68. I cranked it up a bit more. No, you don't have controls like in the other resorts, just a thermostat, like at home.

Diane said as we walked in, "Kind of chilly in here, isn't it?"
"Yup"
"Did you turn it up"
"Yup"

"Ok, you're going to make me ask the right question. What did you turn it up to?"

"80".

"WHat?" Why,

"Because it says it's already 75 in here, and we both know it's wrong, so, let's see what happens."

It is now about 4 o'clock, and we still want to get down to a park and at least get our tickets through the automated machine down by the turnstyles.
Maybe even go in and do a couple of things before they close. As I'm taking off my suit, she asks me,

"You thirsty?"

"Yes, I'll have a manhattan, thank you."

I see that little "shake of the head".

Then it ocurred to me. I threw on my suit again, and ran back down to the ice machine and filled the bucket up. Wasn't far at all.

As I'm changing again, and she's making my drink, I know what I heard.
Oh yes, I know.

"Drinky winky, let's get stinky."

Now, for those of you that are new readers, this is a lame takeoff of a line used ofter in last trip report's, trip report. From my good friend lexmelinda who once tried to give me technical instructions on how to post and this and that, by ending it, "Easy peazy, lemon squeezy."
And it stuck in my head. Like it's a Small world , does. I couldn't get it out of my head. Used it at work. Used it everywhere. Once bought 3 big biker guys a beer at the bar and when one of them held up his beer in thanks and said, "Dude." I responded, "easy peazy, lemon squeezy."

Almost got me killed.

So, when Diane said this, the obvious takeoff from it, I was;

"WHAT?"

"What, "WHAT?"

"YOu know what I mean when I said "What"?

"No, I don't know what you mean. What do you mean by "what?"

"Ok, fine, you wanna play this way, do you? Then, just tell me, what did you just say?"

"I don't know, I was mumbling to myself."

"Oh, ok, fine, deny it."

"Allright then, you tell me what you thought I said."

"You know friggin well what you "thought" I said. "Easy peazy,,, no, crap, hold it,,, you said, " Drinky winky, let's get stinky."

"Steve, I never "Drinky winkied anybody in my life, and certainly didn't start now with you. "

I'm not buying it. I know her.
And then my mind flash forwarded a few months to a courtroom;

"You see, Your Honor, she told me "Drinky winky, let's get stinky."
"And then she denied it."

"If that's not mental cruelty, I don't know what is."

And then I pictured my self getting taken away again.

So, I did just what she said but didn't say she did even though I know exactly what she said that she says she didn't say.
huh?

I had a couple,
fast.

No, I didn' t get stinky, but I caught a silly buzz, and right before we headed on out to the parks, she took this picture. Which, amazingly, is about the only room pic that came out. And , of coarse , the one I never thought would, or hoped would.

05-30-2007-08.jpg

Old habits die hard?

Uh oh, I can tell by the look in their voices, not good.

"Your Honor, may I request a new jury , please?"
hishonor: "The courtrooom has decided to grant you your request. "Easy peazy,,,,,,

goodnight guys, hope you enjoyed tonights babbling, see you all soon,
