From Detroit down I-75, 10 hours driving - where will we be?

Doing a search on Mapquest, 10 hrs from Detroit on I75, will put you approximately in Dalton GA. 10hrs 22mins.

If you're planning on stopping for the night I suggest you skip Dalton and get south of Atlanta. We stopped in Dalton on our first drive down. We hit the morning traffic backup almost as soon as we got on 75. Last year we didn't stop until we got to Macon. If you decide to go beyond Atlanta you'd be getting through fairly late. So you can skip the bypass and just follow I-75 right through. It's a breeze during light traffic hours.

Keep in mind Friday traffic can be horrendus. If you leave at 1:30 pm expect to hit cincinnati during rush hour. Once past florence kentucky it should be smooth sailing. You should miss lexington rush hour by at least 1/2 hour. If you have the along I-75 book it mention's that with the coupon books you pick up in the rest stops you should be able to get the Wingate in Dalton, GA for $59.00. I have stayed at this wingate and it's a nice place to stop. The next morning if possible get a early start and since it is saturday you shouldn't have any trouble getting through Atlanta. I wouldn't bother with the by-pass. Dalton to Orlando according to mapquest is 528 miles or 8hrs 49( I always add an extra 90 minutes onto this time for gas and other stops) . I would take the macon by-pass as it is shorter than driving i-75.Stop at either the florida welcome center or the Ocala Fl. AAA Disney welcome center for a nice break.Give us a driving report when you return and enjoy the drive. Susan

Oops. Guess I misspoke. We take the bypass around Macon, too. Actually, we stopped for the night near the end of the bypass. It was great waking up knowing the worst of the traffic was behind us!!

We usually stop around perry Ga. or after but thats leaving at 4am. The one time we got a later start we only made it to Dalton. I agree if able to get past macon. Susan

Just keep an ear out on the radio to 750am, WSB. They do traffic on the half hour along with the news. They have been working on the interstates during the weekend, as an FYI.

BF and I drove down on 9/3/04 from Just south of detroit (it was a friday). We left at 3:00pm and ended up stopping at 12:30am (9.5 hrs later) just inside Tennessee. We did get stuck in some traffic in both northern Ohio and again in Cincinnati (there was a Bengals game) so we lost about an hour or so in all of that.
