I just received the following PM from a fellow Dis'er. They wish to remain anonymous, so I'm posting it here for them at their request:

"I was talking to my aunt ( Computer Wiz going into making online games soon ) She says yes they say they will close the game to see what the fans think. She says if we stir and get up there they will know what the game is capable of reaching. So depending on our response will keep the game open.

So basically they're just seeing what kind of fan base VMK has and to see if they can change it to pay to play."

The pay to play scenario is what a lot of us are hoping for, I know. I had also thought about the fact that it would possibly be necessary to close VMK for the moment while they revamp to pay-to-play. So not only do we need to keep fighting now, we also need to keep it up if it closes. We CANNOT get discouraged if they do close, and give up on VMK thinking that we've lost. Even if VMK closes, THIS IS NOT OVER. We've got to keep fighting (and we'd have more time to do it!)

It's a long haul.

It is time-consuming.

It's kind of boring writing and sending all those letters.

I know.

But it is so very, very worth it. Do it for your friends, and for the hosts we love, and for the only park fix we have outside the parks themselves. Do it for your escape from the "real world." Do it for the kids who still cry because they're losing something so important to them. Do it for the sake of those whose families have become stronger and more united through VMK, and for those children and adults whose quality of life has been in some measure improved by being able to play it. Do it because there's nothing else out there like it, and never will be.

It's worth it! Isn't it?

I would understand if they did have to close for a short period of time to convert to a pay to play format. It would be most thoughtful if they backed up all the player data and inventories and later restored it with the re-opening.

Yea that would be a good idea.

I would never pay to play :
- a game even more if the game started as a promotion / free game
- VMK knowing that there are so many things I dont think are fair in the game (like the best awards, ... )

What would be nice if VMK is going to be a pay to play game in the future is to be able to give people you want your character so they could enjoy your items if you dont need to start all over

PS: If ever VMK could stay open after the closing on May 21th, why are they releasing so many new items ? They could have an online shop and people could buy the items with real money too q:

I hope they're smart enough to do that. :thumbsup2

I would be happy to start over. Everyone would be equal. I just want the game back. I will miss seeing and talking to my friends.:sad1:

If they were to convert VMK to pay to play, I would hope we would be able to pay per household with a limit of atleast 5 or 6 per family.
Since there are some families that all play together.

I was thinking the same thing the other day. :goodvibes

This would be the ONLY way we could still play. There are 3 of us who love VMK and enjoy playing with each other. $80 a person (based on POTC and penguins yearly fees) is just way too much and we could not afford that.

Yes. They have to allow for all the families that play together that may have the same IP. :)

I don't know why they would have to pu a limit on the number of accounts per household. That would just mean more money for them. But I can understand putting a limit on the number of characters per account.

Having a limit on the household would be a plus to VMK so they can lessen the number of Mules made. That's how I see that both the players and VMK would be happy since VMK isn't too fond of having Mules in the first place. And it is a plus to the players that have more then 1 or 2 members of the family playing along with them.

They better not be dumb like ToonTown. ToonTown ripped off lot's of families. You buy a account. You can create up to 6 characters/6 slots. You can only play 1 character at a time. If you try to log in another, the first will disconnect.

So many families were mad over this. Yet, they still have done nothing.

I would pay to play, but ONLY if I could retain DocHT and all of her stuff. The thought of starting from scratch and losing all of my loot would definitely impact my decision.

Well if we all lose our stuff and start from scratch. It would be fair then to have new players come in and have nothing that we already have. Then that would turn out to re-releasing items, and there are some that really don't like having items re-released.

That's just my view on it. If it came to pay to play I would like everyone to start fresh in fairness to those who will be joining as a Guest.

I would pay to play regardless of keeping my items or not, if we lose our items then all of us do, and so it wouldn't be too unfair. I just love having a game like this that makes me feel like I'm in the parks. No other online game has the Haunted Mansion, therefore no other online game is worth playing.

Its funny but one minute you give up hope, then the next you pull back and regroup and think hmm maybe they are bringing back vmk after the 21st. Its well worth whatever we have to lose to keep the game up, its never been about the rare for me anyway. Pay to play is such a good idea as long as you dont have to face their bans. That 10 yr ban has to go. Why not....offense #1, 24 hr ban. Offense #2 Week ban Offense #3 Ban that character totally, but not your ip.

Why do they think we would not pay to play vmk but they think we would play to play that tacky toontown? Go figure.

I just don't buy it..
Why in the world would VMK say they are closing FOREVER if they had any intention of staying open?
Look at the # of ppl logged in lately, it is dropping daily!
After all this mess there are many that arent fighting..just washing their hands of the whole thing and moving on.
If they Do stay open or change over to a pay to play, they have lost ALOT of potential customers.
If they were going to do pay to play from the get go, they should have just said after May 21 VMK will be pay to play and we will have to close the kingdom for a week to reorganize.

This whole ordeal has left a bad taste in alot of players mouths and I just dont think they have any intention of staying open or reopening as a PTP
it just does not make any sense from a business perspective AT ALL

Don't doubt it till it happens. Corperations no matter what there name and how nice they are all do things like this. Just keep fighting.
