Frogmommy's "Time for a change" thread - comments welcome

Congrats on your November goals! That is wonderful! :jumping1:

I'm sending you some healing :wizard: . I just got over being very sick myself and it is not fun. :sad2: Hope you feel better soon!

Have a great weekend! I'll see you when I get back from WDW! :sunny:

Well hi everyone. I've been MIA the last couple of days. I had a nasty cold that pretty much forced me to rest. I managed to do pretty well with my diet but skipped two of my workouts. At least I got Friday's planned cardio in. I'll have to do both upper and lower body workouts tomorrow to catch up. No big deal if I get it done early enough.

Tomorrow is the official weigh in day. I've been stuck at 183 so long I think I might faint if it says something different tomorrow. Friday it was at 182 but today it was back at 183.

Ty Amy, Beth, and Tracy for your support. Last month was kind of yucky but I made it! I'm looking forward to doing better this month.

Tracy I hope you have a fantastic time at WDW!! I've always wanted to go in December.

Ok, now for today's totals:
Go lean - 1
hummus on WW pita - 3
2% cheese melted on tortilla - 2 (I had one very small wedge)
about 3 oz round steak - 5 (guessing)
1/3 cup potatos mashed with 1% milk and promise spread - 3 (again guessing)
brocoli - 0
1 wasa cracker with RFCC and olives - 1.5
2 hersheys kisses - 1.5
4 marshmellows - ???????? (guessing 2)
more go lean with FF yogurt - 3
64 oz water

We went to the zoo tonight for their Lights before Christmas display. They had a big marshmellow roasting pit, so of course DS and I tried some. Tomorrow DH's band is marching in the local Christmas parade, so we will all go to that. I hate to say it, but I kinda hope it rains so we can stay home. The darn thing is scheduled in the middle of DDs nap and we will ALL be cranky if she doesn't get it.

Heyyyyyyyyy, only 11:30 on a Saturday night! Think I will go read some journals!!!!

Glad you are feeling better--it is NO fun being sick!!

did it rain today so you didnt have to go to the parade ;)

have a great day!

Hi, Heather! Hope you are better from your cold. Thank you so much for visiting my journal. I really appreciate your support.

I can't wait to hear if your scale cooperated with some downward movement today. I know how lazy and stingy those scales can be! ;)

I was going to hope for rain for you today so that you don't have to go to the parade, but then I was thinking about how icky it would be for anyone who has to be in the rain and I'll just wish you a good day, instead! :teeth: Jenn's marching band did spirit/stands music (she did Honor Guard and then the colorguard just danced and cheered in the stands) at state football championships last night (they lost :( ), so they are done now until they start practicing for Disney in March. I hope your DH gets a bit of a break now with "just" concerts to prepare for and perform.

Have a great day, sweetie!

Hi!

Well, today the scale moved!! I now weigh 180lbs!! Never thought I would be so happy to weigh that much, but after weeks of 183 I am estatic! :cool1: And I get a new clippie!! I also got in 50 minutes of upper and body workouts, so now I am all caught up.

Ty Jen and Cam for your support! Today was beautiful, but I didn't go to the parade. (Cam, if it had been raining the whole thing would have been canceled). We decided that DD really didn't need to go - we would have needed to get there an hour early and I just couldn't see waiting on the side of a road with a 1 1/2 yr old and a 4 yr old, especially without help. DH took DS with him though. DS was wearing his nice khakis and a button down shirt, just like Daddy, and marched the entire parade route passing out candy. I've been told he was adorable :) (like I needed to be told :p ).

Today was good. I got a lot of stuff done that I've been putting off. I needed that. Diet went pretty well today too. I made a chicken recipe that I found from cooking light. It's supposed to be worth 10 points, but I used breasts instead of thighs and left out the olive oil. I also substituted uncle ben's for wild rice, and left out the butter. I'm guessing it was less than 10 points overall, but not sure how much. On the other hand, I had a small helping of green beans leftover from Thanksgiving. Mom initially told me that she would leave off the butter for me, but tonight she confessed that she didn't. Thanks mom! So dinner probably was 10 points afterall.

Here's the rest of today's food-
go lean - 1
open faced ham & RF swiss on wheat - 3
2 oreos - 2
1 wasa with RF CC and olives - 1.5
dinner - 10
chardonay - 2
WW desert - 4

I'm a little irked about the butter on the beans, because Mom assured me she wouldn't put it on there. I know it's no big deal to her, but for me every calorie and fat gram counts. We are supposed to go over there on Friday to celebrate Christmas with DGM and my DA, who is flying down to accompany DGM on the trip back. Now I'm dreading it because it's another big meal that I have no control over. Grr.

Just a quick post since it's so late. It's been a good day, though DH is getting on my nerves, lol. Did 25 minutes cardio. I think the meals look ok. Here's what I ate-

Go Lean - 1
hummus on pita - 3
krave bar - 4 (dumb)
1 wasa cracker - .5
leftovers from last night - 10
light beer - 2
Heartsmart ice cream - 4? I ate more than a serving
72+ oz h2o

Busy busy busy day tomorrow. It's DHs bday and I have tons to do. I couldn't sleep for some reason last night so hopefully I will tonight.

Congrats on that awesome weigh-in! You are almost in the 170's!!! Great job making up those workouts. If I miss one, it is just missed... :rolleyes1

My mom also puts butter on veggies. What is up with that? I put butter buds on mine. The kids even love it. They want to put butter buds on everything!

Maybe you can take some snacks with you for Christmas so you have some healthy options. You can pretty much eat anything you want, just make sure the portions are small. Don't worry too much about it, you'll do great!

Congrats on hitting 180. I love those round number milestones. They mean the most!

I'm glad that you're feeling better. Its no fun getting a cold - especially when the weather is so bad. Take care of yourself and don't push it. Your body needs its energy to fight off those cold germs.

Your mom and her butter makes me laugh! She sounds like my mom. My brother was on Atkins and very serious about it. She fixed Atkins pancakes for him for breakfast. She hated how heavy they were & added real flour & sugar to make the mix 'lighter'. She told me NOT to tell him but I felt I had to. She fixed pancakes about 2-3 times a week and I felt that was enough to do major damage. She couldn't understand how a little flour & sugar could hurt. I told him but I told him not to tell her. He just quit eating her "Atkins" pancakes.

Hi!

Hey Amy! Guess you're back from Vegas!! :teeth: I hope you had a wonderful time. I hope to get over to your journal very soon to catch up with you.
Ty Amy and Jane for dropping by. I don't know what Mom's deal was, other than she determined she was going to have a Martha Stewart Thanksgiving meal. I guess leaving off the butter for me wouldn't have been a good thing???

Well, the last 2 days have been crazy busy and I haven't worked out at all. :guilty: I know I can make it up, and maybe that's part of the problem. I did my DGM's Christmas shopping for her yesterday and celebrated my DH's bday last night. Today I went to a friend's house and ended up staying much too long. Another friend came over and started talking about some marriage issues. I didn't get home until very late. So, today is the first time I've missed a scheduled cardio workout since the end of September. Not good!

The diet has been ok. I ate light for the most part, though I did have a filet last night. MMM it was good. I also had 3 bites of turtle cheesecake. Today I was really good, and in fact I may be under points. However I maybe got 10 oz of water in the whole day. My weight hasn't changed, so that's good. Hope it's still good on Sunday.

Yikes, it's always so late when I come by here. I'm going to bed so I can have another crazy day tomorrow!

Hi, Heather! Hope all is going well with you. You must be so excited with how well you are doing with foods. Isn't it great to eat the foods you want as long as you are conscientious about portion size? I hope you will see all your effort rewarded on the scale on Sunday!

So, are you done Christmas shopping? Must be hard to do that with the kids, right? Is DH busy preparing for a holiday concert? Bet you can't wait for Christmas break.

Have a wonderful day!

Turtle cheesecake?!?!? :lovestruc Yum!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc Great job sticking to 3 bites. For me it would have been 3 pieces...

Actually we are not going to Vegas until the 27th & 28th. But we did get married last Friday!!! Thanks for remembering! :teeth:

Sounds like you are very busy! You will make up those workouts. That is awesome that you have not missed a cardio since Sept! You should be extremely proud of yourself! :cheer2:

Hang in there, the holiday hustle and bustle will be over before you know it. Enjoy it while it lasts! Especially with the little ones. :goodvibes

HI there!!!!

You did a great job on the cheesecake. Only a few bites...that is wonderful.

You are doing a great job! Keep up the great work.

Hope you are having a wonderful evening!

Hey!

Hi Cam, Amy, and Jamie!! It's nice to see 3 of my favorite WISH posters on my journal! :flower:

Cam, DHs concert was last Thursday. He has one more week of school and then a vacation. We ALL need the break!!

Amy, I'm so silly for forgetting about your Vegas trip. I've been such a scatter brain recently. Anyway, that cheescake was YUMMY but since DH ordered it for his bday cake I figured it would be rude to eat more then a few bites. :rotfl: I did finally get all my workouts in for the week. I know I should be proud that I haven't missed a cardio up until recently but at the time I felt like I had let myself down a little. No worries, I'm over it now! :teeth:

Jamie, that willpower will come in handy this week. I need to bake some Christmas cookies for my son's preschool class. I'm planning gingerbread (supposedly lowfat), butterscotch cookies, and shortbread. The shortbread recipe has been in the family for generations and is sooooooo good. I wish I didn't have to make them until next week. It's going to be very hard keeping these cookies in the house until Santa gets here!

I've been running around like a nut trying to get all the Christmas stuff up and done. I did manage to get in all my workouts, finally. I've been eating OK I think, but I haven't been writing it all down. My meals have been good, it's just the snacking that I have to be careful of.

Today was the official weigh in. All week I have been at 180, until yesterday when I was 179. Then, of course today I woke up at 181! Ah well.

Have a good week everyone!

Hi there!!!

Happy Monday! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Yum, those cookies sound so good!!! I know you have the willpower to stay away!

Hope you have a wonderful Monday. Keep up the great work!

Jamie

Cookies are tough - but you'll get by without doing too much damage, I'm sure! Great job catching up on your workouts! You are really dedicated! :cool1:

I think your scale and my scale are long lost twins... I hate it when I can lose 2 lbs one day only to gain 3 the next day. But as long as the overall trend is downward, we should be happy, right?

Keep it up and watch out for those cookies!

Hi-

Ty Amy and Jamie for stopping by. I did ok with the cookies. I didn't like the gingerbread much so they are still around. The butterscotch were REALLY good so I sent them into hiding at Mom's house. I still have to make the shortbread, but the plan is to send every last one with my son to school. It's a good thing because they are pure butter.

I'm doing ok with the diet. Made my own chicken chili in the crockpot tonight. Very yummy and also pretty low points - though I'm not sure how many at this point. I admit I'm sorta winging it right now, just too much going on. The working out is going much better this week. I'm staying on top of things so I don't have to double up later. I'm also making a concerted effort to get all my water in. I really think it will help.

Akk, I am super lame when it comes to keeping up with the other journals. Now that DH is home in the afternoons I have been teaching homebound students (too sick to go to school for extended periods of time) or flute lessons everyday - it's cut into my computer time!!!

And right now I'm starving. Not good since it's nearly 12:30 am. I'm off to see what I can find so I won't toss an turn tonight. I think I may have some FF yogurt, so that's the plan.

Wow, you really are a night owl! I have to be to work at 7am, so even on the weekends I am in bed by 10pm (unless we are at a party or something).

Isn't it great giving goodies away? How is your eating going (besides cookies)? Great job sticking with those workouts. Have you noticed any physical changes?

Keep it up! :cheer2:

Yikes, I've been neglecting my journal lately. I hope to get with it again in about a week. I do have good news to report - the scale showed a 1 lb loss for the week. YAY. I hope I don't go completely off track this week. I've got 3 big dinners to worry about, not including Christmas day. I also need to make sure I don't skip any workouts because there is no way I can make them up next Sunday.

Hey Amy- Yeah I guess I am a night owl. I get up between 7:30 and 8:00 so I can afford to stay up a little late, though after midnight every night is probably pushing it. Some days this is literally the only time I have to post. My diet has been pretty good the last few days. Today it kinda took a hit when mom dropped by with dark chocolate covered almonds and cashews. I need to bury them in the backyard.

I'm going to post on the challenge threads and head for bed. Have a good week everyone!!

Congrats on the loss!! :cool1:  :cool1: You can make it through the holidays with no problem! As for the 3 dinners, try to plan out what you are going to eat and stick to it as much as you can. You can do it!

Great job sticking with those workouts! :cheer2:

Hi!

Ty Amy! I was excited that the scale finally landed in my favor on an "official" weigh in day. I think the holiday dinners will be ok for the most part. I'm cooking 2 of them, so that helps.

So, I attempted my cardio workout today. I got 10 minutes into it when my stationary bike self destructed. Drat, DRAT, DRAT!!!!! I gotta get my cardio in. Fortunately my brother has a bike that I can borrow, though I'm not real sure what kind of shape its in. If that doesn't work out I'm going to have to find a used one. I can't afford to buy a new one, especially since I'm already tapped out for Xmas stuff. Besides, my plan was to get rid of the bike and join a gym once I go back to work in the fall. ARGH!!!!!!!!

Today was ok other than that, though I'm hungry right now. DH had a rough day though. He and my mom went to visitation for a collegue's 2 children. They were on their way to visit relatives Friday night when their car crossed the interstate median and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. I just can't imagine what their family is going through. It's devistating.

I'm off to find something to nibble on.
