frig question

Hi! I have been pondering this issue! So this is just a question and I hope I don't sound too cheap! We are tent camping with our 2 sets of twins (4 kids) from Sept 19-29. I really want a frig. I checked out A Baby's Best Friend and you can rent a 1.8 cubic foot mini-frig for around $6.40/day. Walmart sales the very same one for $64 dollars. (So it would be the same price as renting for 10 days)

We will be very short on space because we are driving. If I stopped and bought one when we got to FL do you think I could sale it before we left? I would be more than willing to just get half of what I paid and it would be only 10 days old.

Thankkkkkkkkkkkks!

I feel you could probably make arrangements with a fellow DIS'er to split the cost/share the fridge, but I do have a better suggestion. If you are planning to drive and use a cooler anyway, you could purchase the thermo-electric cooler at Walmart for $62.88 instead of the small fridge. This cooler is made by Coleman(they also have another cooler by Igloo that is a bit bigger but costs @$25 more), and you can plug it into your car lighter-plug on the drive down, and then use the included adapter at your campsite using the regular electric outlet. I purchased this cooler a few months ago, and used it in my hotel room over Easter, and was pleased with it. It did not require more space in our car than a regular Coleman cooler, and it kept the drinks and water cold on the way to FL. I keep it plugged into a regular electric outlet in my utility room at home with bottled water and Gatorade in it for the kids to grab on their way out the door to soccer and cheerleading practice. While it doesn't hold quite as much as the small fridge, it is lighter than the regular electric fridge, and it can be used in the car as well as at home. I can't wait to use it in my brand new 2004 SUBURBAN my DH bought me this past weekend!!

Mic,

Thanks! That is a great idea! I would even feel less guilty because I could use it for groceries every week too. I buy groceries on base and it is 20 miles out. I had icecream sandwiches melt on me this week!

Thanks for your time!!:)
