I thought last year I was able to ask for carrots instead of fries. I would do that and then ask for grapes instead of a dessert. (On the dining plan)

I have gestational diabetes right now and that is going to be my plan of attack this year as well. Fries are one of those things I love love love!!! And well, its just better for me not to even try them at this point. I'll end up wanting lots!

I like to indulge more on vacation than I would at home, but I still can't eat fries constantly. I have a sensitive stomach and I would not feel well, especially since we go to WDW in July and it doesn't mix so well with the heat. However, I do enjoy my fries too, so I voted for sometimes fries and sometimes fruit. When we were at WDW in July 2008 for 5 nights, I only ate fries once. I had them at Cosmic Ray's with my burger and they were very good. Otherwise I had something else. I also substituted the dessert on the DDP a couple of times at CS lunches. Once at Pizza Planet I had a very nice chicken salad for lunch followed by apple slices for dessert (which I didn't care for too much anyway because they tasted like they had a preservative on them...I knew they would to prevent browning, but I didn't know how much I would actually taste it). At Cosmic Ray's when I had the burger and fries, I got the strawberry yogurt for dessert and gave it to my son who was 14 months old at the time and really enjoyed his yogurt. DH had the chocolate cake there but I was not in the mood for cake.

I always got the apples when we were there. They were always fresh and a relief from all of those fatty potatoes IMO.

That's not to say that I didn't snitch a few of DS' fries though. ;)

Okay I hate to say it but I'd go for the fries. I also have a huge craving for salty foods. I try very hard to be healthy and eat well at home. But when I'm on vacation I tend to put that thought to the back of my mind. :lmao: It is nice to know that they do serve apple slices though, maybe I'll change my mind and switch to apple slices a few times.

I love fries, but I also love an occasional bunch of grapes.....I have to count my carbs so sometimes those 17 grapes are just what I need ......

On our past trips, I've always opted for the fries. However, I've recently worked very hard to lose 15 pounds and I hope to not gain it back on our trip. I will probably eat fries a couple of times, but will opt for fruit most of time. Part of the weight loss was changing my diet and I crave fruit more often now. I just can't handle as much fried foods as I used to. I also used to have a huge sweet tooth but one small piece of cake last week almost made me sick.

I'm not a huge fan of fries, and I don't really like the WDW CS version at all, so I always opt for the fruit.

Only problem is that those apple slices taste gross. We love apples, I just got a bushel at the orchard, but I don't know what those things in the bag were.

By the time I get half way through the week, I'm ready for a change since most CS/QS offer similar fare. So for me I like to alternate so I'm not eating the same thing every day. JMHO.

I don't think it's one apple slice unless they've downsized further - it's a little sealed plastic bag of apple slices. They also had little bags of baby carrots. The apples doubtless have some sort of preservative to keep them from turning brown.
