Friends

I haven't played on VMK for at least a week, maybe two. Tonight I clicked the envelope icon and have a message that 14 people have requested to be my friend. I cross checked the names with the VMK/DIS thread and didn't find any that match.

How is it that if I've not been in game that people can ask to be my friend? Can they do that by visiting my room?

No, they probably clicked on you as you walked around and you did not notice the envelope blinking.

If you see me, say hello and we can be friends!

I never noticed the envelope blinking. The last one that requested was from today and that player was last on during the 12:00 hour. I didn't signon until after 6:00. The others requested between 6/29 and 7/14. Yesterday was the first I was in the game in over a week.

This happens, if you play games you pick up messages after each game so if you don't look at friend requests, you won't notice them sometimes untill you sign back in. I would have to say based on experience you probably didn't miss anything. these are likely people just picking you to ask because - your character is cute or they like your stuff, ie. Magic or outfit or they may have been listening to a conversation you had (some people are rude that way) or perhaps they were in the game with you and thought you did well so now they want to stalk you...I mean find you when you play. Anyway if you don't remember having a pleasant conversation with them you probably didn't miss anything and to avoid being repeatedly asked to go to someones room that you don't even know best to click ignore and move on. There should be a picture with the request. how is anyone suppost to remember who they spoke with that long ago.

This may be an "Exit" button bug issue.

When the beta first started, clicking the Exit button would crash the game out. More recently, the Exit button now exits the game gracefully.

BUT... checking with 2 characters on 2 computers, I've noticed that when I leave the game via the exit button for 1 character, that person remains visible and clickable in the room, a mute, lifeless statue... who can still receive friend requests

This is odd, because if you lose connection, the character disappears instantly.

I've come back to the game and had people ask me why I was ignoring them earlier; or come back and found 5 friend requests I don't remember seeing (and I DO look at the envelope button before logging out). I think it's an exit button issue.

Interesting theory JeanJoe. That is very much a possibility. I'll be sure to check the envelope before exiting when I play again.

That is also a good possibility, I have played two characters on the same computer at the same time and noticed that as well. one character crashed and disapeared from the respective screen, the other could still see him in the screen just standing. if you see someone walking but not moving or sparkling (from pirate) endlessly this is the case.
