Friends, family on app?

The Disneyland app does not call it "friends & family."

  1. Open the app
  2. Select the hamburger menu on the bottom right
  3. Select "My Tickets & Passes"
  4. On the top right side should be a blue plus sign - tap on that
  5. Select Link Tickets & Passes and follow the directions

No ability to add friends or family to your account on the DL app?
No - that's exclusive to MDE for WDW. DLR doesn't have user profiles like what's used in MDE - they just have tickets.

The replacement at DLR is to link the tickets for everyone in your party to your app - what LKing is describing above. DLR doesn't limit how many people can add a specific ticket to an account, so everyone can have access to every ticket. (The other workaround is to create one account for everyone in your party and have every app log into that account.)

Oh ok. Got it.

I did link my WDW Magicband to the account, but I'm assuming I won't be able to link my husband's band? Right?

With MagicBands at DLR, you attach them to a specific ticket. So you can pair it to your app account, then assign it to his ticket.
Paired up his band with no problems. Will wait till later to buy the tickets, as I don't wanna chance us not getting to go and then having a couple of one day tickets to DL.

But, come to think of it, that might not be a bad thing? We would have to eventually make a trip out there to use them, right?😆😆 They could be used at a later date? Or not? How does DL deal with such?

Lol - I can come up with a reasonable excuse to buy them if it helps make the trip happen 😆

Honestly, it's a little bit tricky. WDW makes it so much easier to switch tickets, but DLR functions a little more like a "paper ticket" park (even though everything's digital now).

Basically, one-day tickets are in Tiers from 0 (cheapest) to 6 (most expensive). Tier 6 can be used whenever, but you'd be overpaying if you used them on a lower day. Once you've bought a ticket, you can upgrade it, but I think you still have to either call Disney or go to a Ticket Booth / Guest Services to do that - there's not an online version like WDW has in MDE. (I haven't done this in a while, so I'll let someone correct me.)

The only thing to look for would be if the day you want to visit might be a potential sellout. Those are pretty rare, but not impossible. (July 17th this year because of the anniversary, some Saturdays during the holiday season, etc.) The ticket calendar can be a decent gauge of that. But if it's a relatively normal timeframe, you'd probably be fine waiting until closer to the trip.
