I have rented my points using a company but I have never rented points myself (directly). Well, my work colleague may be renting my DVC points in the fall. I have been playing around with a rental contract template that I will use for her and hopefully for future rentals, too. I am thinking of having a basic template but adjusting-according to the relationship. There are some grey areas (ex. loss of use, time, annual, bank points, lack of availability-if cancelled & refund policy). If anyone had any solid suggestions (protects me but is still fair for a friend but a little more restrictive for an acquaintance/customer), I'd greatly appreciate it!! Thanks!

Template Framework:
*Friend (1/3 down and balance 60 days before)...keep deposit but refund the bulk (2/3)
*Customer (Paypal, staggered...75% down, balance 60 days before)...any refund?

Make it simple. There may still be a template contract somewhere on the DVC Boards on the DIS.

Its not worth doing. Its like you are lending a friend money, if it goes well all is good, it goes bad you lost a friend. Tell them you don't have the points and let them rent through a broker.

I completely agree. I would never bother doing this — Maybe if it was just for a couple nights, but on the whole you’ve already spent more time trying to get the details “right” . Let’s just say you can retain $5 more per point than you would using a broker. Now let’s say you are renting 100 points. So, for $500 you get the privilege of additional worry and hassle. NOT WORTH IT IMHO.
