A friend of mine dyed her hair blonde several months ago. Her husband doesn't like it so she decided to dye it light brown yesterday. It turned a greenish gray color. She doesn't have the money to go to a salon to fix it. Does anyone know how to fix this? There isn't a Sally's or a store like that around. Our only resources are Walmart and CVS.

:surfweb: I would call the 1-800 help number on the box, they should be able to tell her what to use.good luck! :wizard:

My wife did this once. I'm guessing that her hair was really light blonde and she used a brown with the word ash in the title. Since her hair had no color and she used a color with a green base she got green hair. In my wife's case she used a bottle of red followed by a bottle of medium brown. This should give you r friend decent results. She should also expect it to fade a lot, particularly if she used bleach to make herself blonde. Plan on regular touchups in the final brown shade for a while to keep if looking decent.

Definately used something with ash in it to get green. I also recommend alling the 800 number on the box they can tell her exactly what to do to fix.

Thanks for the help. It's not devestatingly green, but it's bad. Maybe if she tries a red and a brown mixed that might work. We'll see!

My advice exactly. They will tell you about some sort of neutralizer you can use. It happened to a friend of mine. Sometimes depending on the company they will even pay your hairdresser bill. They paid for a wig for one person I knew but this was years ago. She used some blond bleach and she too had green hair.

Today however it would not be all that outrageous to have green hair she will be right in style.

ONe word of advice....tell her not to do ANYTHING till she calls the help line on the box.

Yep, ash = green on some hair types. Just like warm = red sometimes. She could get the same color (say light brown) but instead of ash or golden go with a lght warm brown to cut the green. If she calls the 800 number they will give her the correct color to use and directions (she probably won't want to leave it on as long)

I had bleach blond hair and decided to dye it brown. That was a disaster. I used ash just because I didn't want orange hair from using a "golden" toned hair dye. I waited a couple of days and redyed it again with a slightly darker brown and it was no longer green.

I feel so sorry for my hair :guilty: .

Good luck!
