Hi,
I have a friend who works for the Federal government and she is also a member of AAA (I am a member of neither). Can she purchase a 4- or 5-day Hopper pass for me and can I use without having to show ID that shows I am her? Don't want to do anything "illegal."

Thanks in advance.

Well.....I'm sure you'll get a variety of guilt ridden answers to this one, but I've purchased tickets for friends (on the gov't. discount) as a favor to them, and I'm sure they'd have done the same for me if the tables were reversed.

They didn't need any kind of proof when entering the park at all. They simply used their pass like anyone else.

I just looked at a park hooper pass purchsed through my DH's gov't. installation, and nowhere on the back of the ticket does it say 'military discount' or other such wording.

Go for it!!:)

Thanks for the info. PLEASE DON'T HATE OR JUDGE ME! Just trying to save some $$$ here, as DH and I are on a VERY tight budget (DH lost his job recently and we don't want to cancel our trip) and can use all the discounts we can get....

No judging from me!

Hey--that's what friends are for to help each other out! :)

Hope you have a great trip!

Is this a military discount? My DH isn't in the military but he does work for the federal govt.

Thanks,
Jeannie

My wife and I are both work for the government. We have purchased tickets for our friends before. You do not have to show any kind of ID when you use them.

I believe that any government employee is entitled to the discount.

No this is not a Military Discount, althought they have one, it is for government employees. I believe that any government employee is entitled to the discount.

Can you tell me where you purchase govermment discount hopper passes. Both my husband and I are government employees and I have never heard about special discounts on hoppers.

Thanks everybody!
So how DOES one go about getting the government discount? Would my friend's place of employment have that info. or is there somewhere I can look it up (did not see anything on the Disney site).

Thanks again

Dawn

My DH is a Federal Dept. of Defense Civilian employee.

They sell WDW park hopper passes (as well as various other tickets including Universal Studios and local amusement parks) at an office they have specifically just for that.

Don't know if it's like that all over, but that's they way it is here!

I know Disney had discounts on passes and hotel rooms for enlisted military since September 11th. You'd definitely need your military ID to get those discounts.

DoD gets discounts, other Fed Agencies do not. Buy a Disney Club Card and get a discount there. Or AAA.

We get our through General Electric Benefits plan. It's a good savings, and we can purchase twice a year, what ever we want. They are hopper only passes..no more waterparks, however. They have never stated that they are just for us.

Actually Blondie, it is not just enlisted that get those discounts. Officers are entitled too. All military must be active duty OR activated reservist though.:)

Just curious, would Veteran's Hospital employees qualify?

No, VA is not DoD. Only DoD. Besides, it's not Veteran's Hospital, it's Dept of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

First and foremost: Don't feel guilty about this! I don't know about others, but if I had a friend who had a 10% discount at a store and offered to purchase a dress or something for me, I'd take her up on it. (I'd probably reimburse her for the cost of the dress over the lunch I'd take her out on)

The same thing works for these discounts on Park Hopper Passes. I'm sure you're bartering with babysitting services or something similar for the price of the discount. Regardless of the "target" audience of government employees, Disney knows that these tickets are being sold.

We're only talking a few dollars here, so please don't feel guilty about it! Have a good trip and I hope your husband finds a new job soon!

You are right on the money LL. We wanted to purchase park passes on base a couple of years ago as gifts. I called WDW, and spoke to the clerk at the base ticket office. Both gave me the same answer - there is nothing against buying the passes for others, and no ID is required to use them.

Or, check with your friend and see if she is willing to buy you the tickets.

Also commonly known as Veteran's Hospital.
