Fridge?

I have a little one who was put on amoxicillan for ear infection and that stuff needs to be put in a frige. How much are they or will they give me one for free. We aren't planning on using it for anything else, so I'd hate to spend the money for that. We didn't even think about a frige until we saw the sticker on the medicine bottle that say must be refrigerated. If anyone knows the answer please help. I can show them the medicine bottle when we check in to prove that it is a medical necessity.

I don't know how the Polyn will handle this - at WL the bell services stored it in their refrigerator and I came got it use it and gave it back. This was more a problem for them because then I needed to take this stuff 3 times a day. So I hope they have changed the system.

They used to (and sometimes still do) provide a fridge free for medical reasons. Evidently many people took advangage of the services and they discontinued it. Even though I never did it I do think that 11 a day is way to expensive for a hotel fridge.

The experiences I have heard of with a free medical fridge lately have been a shoebox size fridge which would be fine for you but I don't think they will guarantee it before hand. I wonder if just keeping it in the ice bucket and keeping the ice refreshed would keep the medicine cold enough.

I would check with my pediatrician and see if they have a chewable if your child is old enough. Much more convenient for the parks etc. If not perhaps if you explaine the situation the dr could switch your child to another antibiotic that does not need to be kept cold.

If your not doing a mid day break that afternoon dose could be an issue - I guess a soft sided cooler could be used in the parks.

I have always had great luck with my ped on stuff like this, they are used to it.

I wish the chewables would work however, she is only 17 months and a VERY VERY Late teether. She only has 4 top and two bottom teeth so she doesn't chew very well. Anyhow, the good thing is the antibotic that he put her on is every twelve hours so she can take it before we go to the park and then when we come back for night night!! I hope they still do have the little medicine friges as that would be perfect since I truely have no plans to use it for anything else. Well wish me luck! Thanks

They will provide a fridge for medical reasons. Just call guest services. Your other option would be to purchase a small cooler (like the igloo mini-playmate) and keep the meds cool with ice.

1) People recently (within the last year) have been posting that they have been provided a refrigerator free of charge for medical reasons. Some of the hotels reportedly are providing those little shoebox size ones; some are providing bigger ones. Ask at the desk when you check in. Be sure to check your statement when you check out to see that you were not charged for it.

2) They had stopped providing refrigerators free of charge for a while. We had heard the same reason that tjmw2727 posted; too many people without medical needs were saying they needed a refrigerator. So, the choices people with medical needs were given were to pay for a frig or store it behind the desk like spicycat had to.

3) You might want to check with the Pharmacist to find out if refrigeration is required for the brand of Amoxicillin you have. Depending on the brand, it may not need refrigeration. Sometimes refrigeration is recommended to improve the taste. Sometimes it's to increase the safe storage time from 10 to 14 days. I'd still probably want to store it in a refrigerator if possible, but it's nice to know if you have any options.

Yep 17 mos is a bit young for chewables <g>! I would take a minute and call CRO if you can to see about requesting a fridge for medical reasons and have them note it on the reservation. Can't hurt especialy since they won't even guarantee a fridge if you are playing for it!!

Just in case, maybe you should consider bringing a small lunchbox or soft sided cooler. I imagine with new ice a couple times a day this would even do the trick.

We asked for and got a fridge for no charge at the ASMu last May for my mom's insulin. It was a small one, maybe 18"X18" but it worked fine for what we needed. We just asked at check-in and they offered it for free, we assumed we'd have to pay. Good luck!

I let CRO know when I make my reservations that I need to refrigerate my insulin. At AKL I got a dorm-sized refrigerator and was told if charged at check-out to let the front desk know. I had been expecting the smaller sized cooler (which would be fine for my needs)
