Friday Night Lights

If you have direct TV, it started back in Oct and is about 1/2 over now.

NBC's rerunning start date hasn't been determined yet, but it is expected not to be until May/June.

Is this going to be Season 5? I ask because I've watched 1, 2 & 3 on Netflix and am anxiously awaiting 4 to be released :(.....I don't know why I had in my head that 4 was the last seaon. Glad to know I'm wrong :)

I think what is showing on Direct TV now is season 4....but I could be wrong.

Yes, Season 4 on DirecTV 101 continues through mid-February. The original thinking was that NBC would carry it this summer, but with the movement of Leno back to late-night, there is a chance that FNL will find its way into the NBC schedule before summer.

Oh YIPPEE!!! Thx for the scoop!

I just finished watching seasons 1-3 on netflix and they were missing the last episode of season 3. I read there was an episode 13 and my netflix only had 12!! I read the summery on Television without pity so I know what happens, but it was a huge one to miss seeing before starting season 4!

I cant figure out why this show isnt on a regular schedule. It should easily out draw the Marriage Ref & some other whacked shows on NBC.

I watched the first three seasons on Netflix also. I was wondering what was up with the fourth season being in limbo for so long. I'll have to celebrate on premiere night.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! I am so ready to see Saracen and Coach and all the others again. :yay:

I think part of the problem is that FNL has never had huge ratings and NBC poorly promotes the show. FNL is one of the most underrated shows on TV right now. I think the reason some people don't give it chance is because they think it's entirely about football or that it's completely focused on teens.

but we thought it was canceled. So glad to see it's not!

The show will end after season 5. Production on season 5 starts sometime next month and it will air on DirecTV in the fall and then in spring 2011 on NBC. It will be sad to see show go. I do hope Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton move onto great shows. Both have done award worthy work on FNL but they get snubbed by the Emmys and Golden Globes.

I am not going to give away any details of the season. However as an avid lover of the other seasons be prepared for a different show. It is just not the same. Granted you can't have high school shows last too long, but so much changed that it was hard to recognize. I personally felt they could have went ahead and canceled it.

not going to give anything away but season 4 is different from the past 3 but i think fans of the general dynamics of the show, the relationships as well as the wonderful acting will still be pleased.

I'm not sure I agree. NBC bent over backwards, early on, to try to get folks interested in Friday Night Lights, as much as they do for shows that they own, and more than they do for shows that they purchase the rights to broadcast. The simple fact-of-the-matter is that Friday Night Lights has limited appeal.

Friday Night Lights debuted to strong critical reviews. That, itself, often is a harbinger of a show that will not do well. Many (most?) American television viewers look to television for escape and fun and mindless diversion -- "strong critical reviews" tend to be reserved for shows that make the viewer think, make the view feel strong emotions that are not always "fun", etc. Those are indicators of what some consider "quality television" but not coincidentally indicators of what some consider "too much work".

The fact that Friday Night Lights is continuing, despite such poor ratings, is a tribute to how much NBCU has devoted to the series. They're willing to let it continue, willing to pay for top-shelf talent like Jason Katims, despite the limited ROI that doing so promises. That's pretty darned generous, and community-minded of them.

I am so happy to finally have a date. My family and I really enjoy FNL. I think by having such am inconsistent schedule they don't do themselves any favors getting more views. It's been a lot of work these past couple of seasons keeping track of when and where to find it. It's really too bad...
