Well, it's so cold that my digital thermometer reads "offline". The official temperature in my town is -24 and the windchill is -45. Yippee. I am just trying to justify why should I be going out in this stuff, again? Oh yeah, to drive my kids to school so they don't freeze solid.

Thankfully we are having a 40 degree warmup by tomorrow! we should have a whopping 10-15 degrees ABOVE ZERO as our high!

The plan right now is to go to the Science Museum and then maybe hit the Ice Palace if it isn't too crazy in St. Paul.

WOW!!! I thought our -9 was cold! You can keep it....k?;)

Stay warm!!

I am right with you.....
-26 F with a windchill of -44!!! Brrr........

Can't wait until the big "warm up"

I was at -27 when I got up. No way I'd be going to the Ice Palace LOL, I saw people on the news skating down there last night. They are nuts!!! I'll believe our 40 degree warmup when I see it. Heck, we won't even need hats and gloves with that temp!!

We were thinking of doing that on Friday! It has been WAY too cold to go see the ice Palace yet, and I want to see the Lewis anc Clark show at the Science Museum.

LOL! Notice how it is only us crazy Minnesotans who are on this thread?

Well, us crazy Minnesotans have to stick together LOL. Did you also notice, that no matter how cold, Minnesotans just keep on going. The stores are still busy, people still go out to eat, people go skating LOL. We are crazy.

Can a crazy Chicagoan check in? I heard that this is the coldest day here in 3 years. I know my van never got warm and, I was driving at least 30 minutes. Brrrrrrrr. Wind chills will be in the -teens to -twenties this afternoon so, that's even worse. I am sooo looking forward to going home after work and putting my flannel, FEETIE pj's on. :teeth:

All I can say is that winter sure gives me a real appreciation of the other 3 seasons of the year.

I was listening to the radio and it's the coldest it's been since February 1996. I remember that winter...pretty cold.

I remember 1996 very well. My dd was born in January of 96. The day I went in to the hospital, it was 45, they day I was released 2 days later, it was -10. It was downhill from there. That was the week of the big ice storm. Do you remember Christmas of 1996? I remember going to my aunts and not being able to park the car. She lives in Mpls, and there was so much snow that the streets were only wide enough for 1 car to drive down. Then the next day we went shopping and it was -28 when we got to Ridgedale. That, I think, is just about the coldest I ever remember going shopping in.

I know what you mean.
I remember that winter also! It was very cold.

I think that last 3 winters here have been pretty nice, I guess Mother Nature wants us to remember we DO live in Minnesota :)

The winter of 1995-1996 was the first full winter we lived in Minnesota. After that experience, silly us, we thought all winters would be like that.

I remember moving here in February of '95. When we left Seattle it was 50 degrees. That Saturday we went apartment shopping, it was warm by MN standards but dw and I were freezing at 18 degrees. We were bundled right to our noses and still shivering. The lady in the apt office took us to look at an apartment, we had to walk through the snow. She had a skirt on and high heels and didn't even bother to grab her coat as she took us outside. That was the moment we knew we were in trouble.

Yeah, but now you probably think like the rest of us. 18 is a mild winter day. Seriously. I think this weekend when it warms up, it's gonig to feel balmy.

I am in WI, 1 1/2 hours from Minneapolis. Today's high is -5 with wind chills of -30/-35. Last weekend it was 15 degrees and sunny. DH and I were both commenting how warm it was.

It's pretty cold here in Chicago (I heard the coldest since '97) but I'm having a hard time complaining. DD calls me every morning with the weather report from Minnesota--Today she said it was minus 24 with a minus 44 windchill. She actually broke down and wore a hat today. Finally she's figuring out comfort is more important than fashion!
