Hi all--

I am planning a day at HS on Fri 11/22. I was planning to try to RD SDD since it seems like that is the best way to do it without a FP. We have a FP for TSM from 9-10 am. Complicating factor--DH can't ride roller coasters d/t injury, so w/o a FP I have to do standby with DS1 and then standby with DS2. If I could get 4 FPs then I'd use DH's with DS2. Also, my family hates to get up early so they are already grumbling about getting up at 7 to RD for a 9 am park open. We would like to do ToT, SDD, Saucers and TSMM.

Kiddos love fireworks and I think after watching a video, they'd like JBJB. How would you optimize SDD wait time for an afternoon/evening visit the Fri before Tday? I'm wondering if Fri night=more local customers?

Bottom line--would you try for RD or show up around 4/5 pm and try SDD closer to park close? I am assuming that later afternoon/evening lines will be longer for ToT and elsewhere than if we went at 9 am, but of course they don't do fireworks at lunch time.

TIA!

Why can't you take both kids through the standby line? You can sit with the younger one and the older one will be placed into the row in front of you (admittedly with another guest in next to him). If this won't work for you, ask about rider switch - stop at the entrance with both kids and they will set up a return time for you and DS2. You'll then wait in standby with DS1, ride, and then go into the fastpass line with DS2.

Are both kids tall enough to ride SDD? It seems like a pretty intense, fast ride for a one year old, IMO. Perhaps even for a 2 year old. My kids are 12 and 10 now so it's been a while but they found Barnstormer pretty intense back in their toddler years and it's a much shorter, slower ride. (I'm assuming DS1 and DS2 is indicating the ages)

If you can ride, you can use child swap and just go with the second kid instead of your husband. Ask for the ticket when you get into the Standby line the first time. I don't think I'd put my two year old with a stranger where they can't see you.

ETA: If you try for SDD closer to close, you'll likely miss the fireworks since they are typically happening right at park closing time. I'd probably plan for an early start, midday nap and come back for fireworks.

I think she probably means that she has 2 boys, DS #1 and DS #2.

Thank you for the info! Sorry for the confusion--one kiddo is 6 and the other is 4. Both have ridden SDD before and love it. I should have said DS6 and DS4, but I meant kid 1 and kid 2 in my original post,. My bad, I'm too much of a DIS newbie!

Thank you also for clarifying rider switch. I thought that it was only available if a person didn't meet the height requirement, e.g. kiddo is too small. I didn't realize you could use it if an adult can't go on or doesn't want to ride. I will bring DH in line and he can wait with one kiddo while I go on with the other one. I'd also be okay with DS6 going with someone else in front of us if DS6 is okay with it.

Sounds like maybe the morning is still the better bet. I have no idea what Friday night lines look like at HS but will keep looking at the app the next few weeks as our visit gets closer.
