Ok, this happened last night at Wendy's and the Dis is the first place that I thought of. lol DH, DD5, and I had gone to Wendy's for dinner. DD and I went to sit down while DH waited for our food. He was not standing right up at the counter, but another family was. Part of our food was sitting on the counter. The boy about 11 started eating the fries off of our tray. I happened to see it but DH didn't. The older sister of the boy must have said something, because I saw the look on the boys face and him say, "shhh". I kind of laughed inside, but spoke up and told DH to ask for fresh fries. The other family started giggling. DH is VERY shy and I could tell that he was not going to ask for fresh fries so I walked up there. When I asked for fresh ones the girl acted kind of mad when she tossed the old ones in the trash. I leaned over and whispered why I had asked for them. They had been sitting there awhile anyway, so I honestly would have wanted fresh ones. I hate when they put your fries on the tray before the rest of your food is ready.

Anyway, my question is.....How would you all have reacted? I didn't say a word to the family, but they kind of got the point, I think. Funny thing is, a friend of mine had told me that he had done the exact same thing once (eating someone elses fries)and I was thinking about that when I saw the boy start eating our fries, lol.

I would have done the exact same thing. You handled it well.

I either would have asked for fresh or not eaten them at all. :crazy2:

I would have done just what you did. DH always start to eat the fries when they put them on the tray! :thumbsup2

I think you handled it well. Even if someone hadn't started to eat our food...if our fries were not steaming hot and fresh, I would have asked for new fresh ones!

I'd have placed the fries in front of the other family saying: "I believe these are yours now"

And THEN I would have asked for fresh fries :thumbsup2

I would've asked for more, or spoken to the person eating them. I'm a nice person as long as you don't touch my french fries.

You know, I think I would have also handed them to the other family before asking for more fries. I would have also told the girl at the counter that if there is an extra charge, give the bill to the kid's parents who ate my fries.

This happened to me a few months ago at a local McDonalds. The cashier placed my fries on the tray....still waiting for burger. Small child waiting with his mother looked at my tray and proceded to reach his hand for my fries. I told him no, so he stopped. Thought I was not looking and reached again and this time was successful with getting one. He takes a bite of it and I guess he did not like it, because he went to put it back on my tray. :crazy2: I grabbed his hand and made him eat the fry. He was not too happy about it, but I was not happy with the fact his mama had not taught him better manners.

Glad to see that I didn't overreact. I actually did think of saying something along the lines of, "you can have these now". But I didn't want to be mean or embarass the kid much more. I admit that I did tell my DH to get fresh fries OUTLOUD because I wanted the kid to know that I saw what he did. DH was oblivious though. He thought I was crazy for suggesting that he go ask for fresh fries. He's NOT one for confrontation. He probably would have watched them pick them up off the floor and still eat them. Not me.
