Last year we paid about $270 per person ($1083 total) for 1 stop flights with short layovers in Georgia on Delta. We travelled on the 21st of August and were scheduled to return on the 28th. I had watched prices for about 1 or 2 weeks and I booked not even 5 weeks in advance of the flight.
This year, we are planning to fly out on the 17th of August, returning on the 26th. For non-stop flights, I saw fares for $303. That was in the beginning of the week. Today, the fare is $330! I know I would be comparing apples to oranges in terms of 1 stop flight vs non-stop flights in two different years. And I'm not a frequent flyer, this will only be my second time. But it seems like the outbound fare may be decent. All the other airlines are at least $320 and over per person.
My question is should I go ahead and book the outbound and wait and see about the return fare?
I would hate for them to go up anymore.
We need to be on non-stop flights because my DD hates transferring planes and is afraid of flying. We got stuck in Florida during the hurricane and were re-booked on a non-stop flight. She preferred getting one flight over and done with. It was a lot smoother I would say.
Thanks for any help.

Jet Blue always is almost $2,000 for the four of us. It seems like the fares are high in general, but Delta is way on top so far. Our dates are kind of set in stone due to the children's summer activities and school starting in September. I won't be looking around much longer, because there is no way I'm buying if it increases to $350 or so.
