French toast casserole?

Does anyone have a good french toast casserole that you would be willing to share?

French Toast Casserole

1 loaf (10 oz) French Bread cut into 1-inch cubes 8 eggs
3 cups of milk 4 tsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla ¾ tsp salt (optional)

Topping: 2 Tbls butter/margarine/cubed 3 Tbls sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon Maple syrup (optional)

Place bread cubes into a greased 9x13 pan In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt if desired. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or over night. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Dot with butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the top. Cover and bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve with syrup if desired.

I add a splash of flavored creamer to our french toast and french toast casserole. Love it. :)

I've made the Paula deen one and my one tip is to bake it a bit longer and make sure you use all the bread called for. The only time it messed up for me was once when I used less bread and it was majorly runny. ( and by less I am talking only like a slic or two)

Here's the one I love that they used to have at the Main Street Bakery at WDW.

Enjoy,

French Toast Loaf
Main Street Bake Shop
Magic Kingdom
YIELD: 1 Loaf
Ingredients:

12 slices day-old white bread (preferably a homestyle white, not Wonder Bread type)
8 oz. butter (chilled and sliced)
Brown sugar batch:
9 oz, light brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Mix together and set aside.
Batter:
10 oz. heavy cream
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and refrigerate until ready to use.
Method:

Liberally spray a loaf pan with Pam or other vegetable spray. Layer three slices day old bread on bottom of pan. Sprinkle 1/3 brown sugar mixture on top of bread, then layer 1/3 of the butter. Repeat these steps two more times. Top off with three more slices of bread (should have a total of 12 slices of bread). Press down with hand to compact bread into loaf pan.
Slowly pour 16 oz. of batter over top of loaf, covering completely. This may take a little time, to allow it to fully absorb into bread and flow into spaces at bottom. (Take your time here and pour into corners. Lift bread at corners a little to get into bottom quicker if you want.)
Place loaf pan on some paper towel in case of overflow. Cover top of loaf with parchment paper and wrap top tightly with aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator and allow to sit overnight.
Heat oven to 325º F. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until internal temperature in center of loaf is 160 degrees. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Place a plate on top of loaf pan and invert to remove from pan. Cut into slices and serve.

Praline Baked French Toast
6 tablespoons Butter
1 cup Light Brown Sugar
2 tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
1/2 cup chopped Pecans
2 Eggs, plus 3 Egg Whites
1 cup Orange Juice
1/4 cup Sugar
1/3 cup Milk
1 teaspoon grated Orange Rind
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 (16 oz) loaf French Bread, cut into 12 to 15 (1 inch) slices

In a microwaveable dish, combine butter, brown sugar & corn syrup. Microwave until the butter has melted & the brown sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute. Pour the mixture into an ungreased 3 quart oblong baking dish or a 13 x 9 inch pan. Sprinkle with pecans.
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg whites, orange juice, sugar, milk, orange rind, cinnamon & vanilla.
Arrange the bread slices over the brown sugar mixture & pecans in the dish. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices. Cover & refrigerate for at least 4 hours to overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until toasty. Serve immediately, each piece with some of the praline sauce that forms on the bottom of the dish.

A nice addition to Paula Deen' is some dreid fruit, my favorite is dried assorted berries!

French Toast Loaf!!

the one warning I have from this - you need to make sure you put something under it in case it may boil over :rolleyes1

and if it does boil over - and starts smoking - you'll be able to test your smoke detectors! :rotfl2:

Psammie's recipe is pretty close to the one I clipped out of Working Woman several years back, although that one was much simpler. We've been using it on a regular basis ever since.

Working Woman French Toast (for two persons)

4 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
3/4 cups milk
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
10 slices of bread

Dip the bread slices in the other mixed ingredients and lay out on a butter-coated oven-proof dish. Cover with the remaining ingredients.
Bake in a 425 degree oven for 20 minutes.

All of those other recipes sound great - we'll start playing around with the above recipe by adding a dash of Grand Marneir. Yummee!
