Ooooh, creepy :scared1:

Just kidding, of course! Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. It brought back great memories for me. POFQ was where we stayed in 1992, our first trip to WDW with our children, then 4 & 7. Back then it was just Port Orleans! We loved it, and the only reason we didn't stay there this past May was because I wanted to try something new. We stayed at POR, which we liked enough, but on the boat to DTD I was looking at POFQ with second thoughts!

Ok, I JUST booked May 2-6 at POFQ for me and my mom. Now, I just need to concentrate on keeping it a surprise until Christmas and not making any slip ups before then :rolleyes1

I think you made a great choice. We stayed at POFQ in 2002 and will be returning there in under 3 weeks :Pinkbounc We loved it. I found it to be very clean and not at all creepy. The only shady people I saw were the ones dressed up on Halloween night ;) One of the main reasons we chose POFQ was because of the compact size. On our last trip the kids ranged from 1 to 7 years old so we did not want to make them walk around a huge resort. My Mom also loves it because she has bad knees and after walking the parks all day, she likes to be able to get where she's going quickly at the resort. We were in building 4 and it never took us longer than 6 or 7 minutes to get anywhere (even to the boat launch) and that was with toddlers! Be happy in your choice and have a great time!

What's so funny?

Sorry! :teeth: I just wouldn't associate the word "creepy" with any Disney property. I'm sure you're a fine person but your post and the subsequent reply just made me laugh. :goodvibes

Okay, I knew I was going to stay here but this definitely clinches the deal. I love the pics. My mom will love it here and my daughter will love that awesome slide (she cannot go down it cuz she will only be 3 but will love the way it looks!)

We are going to have a GREAT TIME at POFQ!

Oh, go to Boatwrights at POR -- it's AWESOME and only a 10 min walk away (unless you are a VERY slow walker - not mentioning any names! )

This is a great thread! I just booked POFQ for Oct 21 - 24 with an AP discount. We stayed here in '99 before we had children. My DD thinks the pool looks cool and I can't wait to experience it through her eyes!

A couple questions:

Does anyone know how late the lounge stays open? I believe it is called Scat Cat's?

Also, how late the pool bar is open? My DH wants to make sure he has someplace to go in the evening. He is very spoiled - we always stay in the Epcot resort area and he goes to ESPN everynight.

Thanks for any help!

This is from allearsnet.com:

"Yes there is one lounge called Scat Cat's Lounge and one bar. Scat Cat's Lounge is located in the main lobby building. The hours are : 4:30pm - 12:30am. You can order alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
The bar is located by the pool and is open from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. You can order alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages."

Ok...we are POFQ pros. We stay here all the time. Whenn it was under renovation we were put at the POLY for the same price and I was so sad, I didn't like the POLY as much as POFQ. You can tell by my signature I stay there a lot. Most recently April 29th-May 9th. We were in Building 1 and walked from there over to POR food court in 15 min and that was pushing a stroller. My 70 year old mother walke it with us...so I know for a fact there is NO WAY from bldg 7 to the food court it would take 15 min. And creepy? I highly doubt that. If any one has any questions PM me...I'll be glad to answer them on this resort. We are off again to POFQ on Oct. 27th! Yeah can't wait

For a small resort POFQ is very popular. We tried to book a room at POFQ for the wine festival in October but were unsuccessful. It was all booked up. Fortunately we were able to book a room for our November mini trip. Let me know if Eliot Dyson is still there. He was on vacation during our last minitrip :guilty: & we really missed him. He's one of the main reasons why we enjoy this resort so much.

Ok. Everyone has their own tastes regarding Disney resorts. Myself, I stayed at CBR in 2003 for 2 nights. It was 2 nights too long. Talk about creepy. Try having to walk alone to your room from the bus stop at night across a dimly lit parking lot. First time in 15 visits to WDW that I actually did not feel safe at a Disney resort. Way too spread out for my taste. Won't stay here again.

Now for POFQ. Have always had excellent service and experiences here. I find the grounds very charming, especially early in the morning when everything is just waking up. Love taking a walk around the grounds, listening to soft Dixie music playing in the background, lovely fountains, and the quiet "streets". I've never found it took 15 minutes to get anywhere at this resort, but that's just me. Usually less than 5 for me to get to the foodcourt, main building or bus stop. Even at night or early in the morning, have always felt safe at this resort. I'm very excited about staying here again.

Katgarcia & Maddhatir,

Thank you for the photos. They are really nice!

WOW!! That looks like the same room we were in this August. I wonder if all the rooms have that same pic of the nuns walking in that square??

Anyways, we loved this resort and will definately book there again.

Just wanted to add that we just got back for POFQ and it was amazing. We loved the pool.

Watch out for the Beignets they are messy!

The pictures of this resort are great! We stayed there last May and loved it. Our daughter was 18 months at the time, and it was so easy to get around. Everything was so easy to get to. We are now going back December 3-6 and my parents along with DH, and DD's new sister who is 6 months. This is my parents first time staying on property!! The beignets were awesome. We discovered them on our last day, but we have been talking about getting them for a quick breakfast!! Getting so excited about this trip.......... :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Boy, if DWWisher thought POFQ was "creepy," I'd hate to hear what they had to say about the Haunted Mansion!

15 minutes to the Food Court from BLDG 1? I would get up in the morning and jog from POFQ to POR and back (1.7 miles) in about 18 minutes. I could walk from BLDG 1 to the FC and get lost twice along the way and still make it in half that time. DWW is totally exagerating!

One poster asked about the "relative size" of the resort. The distance from BLDG 1 to BLDG 7, the farthest points at POFQ, is about the same as from the Main St. Hub to the Castle Hub at the MK.

Ahhhh...

Two weeks from now, this first timer to WDW is going to stay at POFQ and I can't hardly wait

Couple of questions for you seasoned pro's. I have read that to request a special sort of room (such as 3rd floor, non-smoking and non parking lot view), you have to do that at the time of your reservation.

Has anyone done a room request via fax, and if so, how did that go.

Also, how does that Magical Express work out for everyone. It sounds too good to be true.

When we booked the vacation, the Express was booked to, but, do you also have to make reservations as well?

That's it for now. I have to trolley off....

I am counting the days!!!!!

:cool1: :cool1:
