French Market is changing menu

Ate at the French Market yesterday and LOVED IT. I ordered the roast beef...it was great. Good size portion of meat, it was tender and tasty, the peppercorn sauce was great. I thought the mashed potatoes were excellent and even enjoyed the veggies. Arrived at 11:30, no crowds. Sat in the shade and listened to the jazz band. Perfection.

My friend had the salmon and enjoyed it very much.

I'm glad to hear this. The Roast Beef looked good to me too, I'm hoping to try it in October.

We were there the other day and were sad that the menu had changed. DD and I loved to share the fried chicken. I ended up ordering the clam chowder and DD had the kids chicken meal and ate my salad as well. It was alright. Good, but not what we had gone there to eat.

I would love to hear more reviews about this pasta dish, it looks SO yummy. I need to know if it is worth the money though, ya know?

Does anyone know if they have small packets of honey that can go with the corn bread, I must have honey on my corn bread:thumbsup2

mm-mm, yummy cornbread, I love it with butter or honey butter, and prefer mine to be baked with honey. :) I may be related to Winnie the Pooh! for I love honey, too! :) someone needs to make an emoticon that shows the pooh mister or just a little face, licking his chops, insert here, please! :)

Vala, that sounds like a very interesting, historic and beautiful location to which you live.
My father was born and raised in Austria, alas I am not fluent in German, and I am not happy about that either! :( anyway, he had not made creamed potatoes that way, it does sound rather tasty, the more I think about it.
My father is from the type of kitchen, where he loves sardines, ligonberries, head cheese, milk rice which I love, is that a dish that is made where you live?
polenta, of course sausage, as well as other dish's.

Historic not so much - it's a really tiny village. But it's only about half an hour to Heidelberg, some people may know that town. It's a rather well known wine region here though.

Milk rice is very popular in some Southern regions of Germany, yes. We make that dish too. The more North you get, the more the dishes differ. Polenta is a very "Southern" dish. It's most popular in Italy and parts of Austria.

I was born in germany i dont remeber how to speak it any more it. It was my first.

German is very easy to forget if you don't train constantly.

Sorry for OT everyone.

I'd love to hear reviews about the pasta dish too. French Market was one of the restaurants we were eyeing for the next visit.

Vala, :flower3:

No need to apologize, I have a tendency too, to go a bit off topic, o.k. sometimes, way off. Oh well! this is America, free speech and all. :)
Feel free to send me a message, to talk about anything that you like, your written English is most excellent. Maybe you can help me with my German? :)

it was my first, then came to america and told I had to learn english then my dad stoped speaking german with me and stuff i think i could relearn it prety easy and have thought about it. good meeting you Vala

My wife really liked the pasta dish even though it tasted a little ham like. She though that the portion was small, but ended up being very filling! She said the pasta wasn't overdone and the veggies in it were just right.

The cornbread I give an A+++ to- it was so yummy.

Good meeting you too, Jade. :)

If I can help refresh your memory if you decide to start relearning German, just drop me a line.

Dang it, the fried chicken dishes were my favorite in the entire park (besides Club 33). And now they take it away. It's the French Market, for goodness sakes. This means plenty of cream, plenty of butter. Trust me, I'll be walking it off all day. :headache:
