I realized that the chicken didn't taste so much par boiled, as steamed. I think they roast the chicken, but in the citrus sauce which is watery.

The Citrus Chicken in description, does sound tasty, however, if in reality it is quite the opposite, then I cannot say that I would definitely order it.
I will be interested in reading more reviews on that dish as well as others that are on the new menu.

We'll be eating there tonight, I'll try to take photos of the dishes we see and order and post them later :)

Uh-oh! The pork sandwich was one of the ways I was able to convince my dad and step mom to join us again on our next disney trip. I really don't want to have to break their hearts. Anyone know where else they might have a version of that pork sandwich?

MAybe the river belle terrace?

Here are some photos of the items we ate. I had the Plantation Citrus Chicken and the wife had the Pasta. Word of warning- I don't think this dish is actually vegetarian. We were going to go back and ask but they were SO busy. My wife took a couple bites and thought it tasted weird, I took a bite and it tasted like cheesy ham. It might just be the mixture of cheese though, but the menu doesn't actually specify that this is a vegetarian item.

As for the chicken, it was actually quite tasty! Same for the biscuit. The veggies weren't really my deal, so I had double potatoes which I really didn't like either- it had caramalized onions in it, which I thought just tasted... weird. I tried some of the veggies and they tasted very bland. But the chicken was good!

We probably won't go back as I don't think the price warrants the dish.

The FM changes out their menu for dinner time.

I'm hoping that they keep their pork and french dip sandwiches for lunch. :hyper:

Thank you for sharing your photos. :)
The chicken does look tasty, I have not tried creamed potatoes with caramelized onions in them, not sure how I would like that taste.
The meal looks a tad bit small, with exception of the double serving of potatoes, was your meal reasonably filling.?
I personally like not to feel stuffed, but rather to have my once vacant interior, feel quite nice and comfortable.

No one should get mad about it. :) It's the right thing to do. I think with good tasting healthy options, people will have more energy to enjoy the parks, etc., etc.
I agree. It's always an effort for us to find something for my DH to eat in the park; he is on a medically restricted very low-fat diet. I'm thankful Disney is good about providing more healthy options (along with the not-so-healthy items we love to eat) so he isn't stuck eating salad all day long. :goodvibes

i just talked to my sis and she swears the bread bowls are yummy there. I had my heart set on trying one. No fair. I eat healthy at home and in fact I am on a diet now, but when I go on vacations I say good-bye to healthy eating. I like to try new foods and not have to bring my fat-free dressin and Equal with me .popcorn::
OH well, that is the way the ball bounces.

The meal was actually fairly filling. We looked at the plates and thought "We're paying how much for this???" I hate going away from a meal feeling overly full because I hate leaving food on my plate at Disney. But this was just enough, and I didn't finish the potatoes. I hate onions SO much, and I wish I knew they were in there. :/

I noticed that the majority of people in the line were ordering the chicken salad or the chowder in the bread boule with the side salad.

And it took FOREVER. It was so busy in there but we really wanted to give the new food a try. They kept running out of food items, but the new food wasn't ready so there was a constant hold up.

Mashed potatoes with caramelized onions are quite popular around where I live - I'm in a village in Germany near the French border.

It doesn't taste as weird as it sounds at first, I promise. ::yes::

I'm a Texan and I make my potatoes that way quite a bit. I get lots of compliments when I make it

Well, I love the changes.....looks tasty, well priced, and a baby step healthier. I really wouldn't classify anything served with that bread as "healthy" but certainly fresher.I applaud Disney.

Unfortunately, for you fried chicken fans, this item will disappear as well as their other sandwiches. Stay tuned.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :sad1: :sad2: :mad:

hehe...like I can't get fried chickken anywhere else on the planet.....

Vala, that sounds like a very interesting, historic and beautiful location to which you live.
My father was born and raised in Austria, alas I am not fluent in German, and I am not happy about that either! :( anyway, he had not made creamed potatoes that way, it does sound rather tasty, the more I think about it.
My father is from the type of kitchen, where he loves sardines, ligonberries, head cheese, milk rice which I love, is that a dish that is made where you live?
polenta, of course sausage, as well as other dish's. These all being what he grew up eating, what I cannot ever figure out, is his taste in lard sandwich's! the thought of eating that just makes me cringe, but then I was not a child in WW2, either.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Happy dining! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :)
I was born in germany i dont remeber how to speak it any more it. It was my first. The potatos look yummy to me but my dh has just decied we will skip it. since its the only thing even slightly appealing.
I think its awsome when i meet ppl in germany or have lived there and stuff I just wish i had lived there longer, could remember more. I bet it is butifule where you live some times i wish i just could pick up and relocate. I have dule citizenship,but not my son or dh lol
(sorry to highjack thread) just though it was cool
They don't serve gumbo any more- they have 1 jumbalaya though. There is a little stand closer to Pirates that sells gumbo though I think.
